Sexist Men, Women May Be a Good Fit: Study

Curiously, didn't ask participants about their attitudes towards men. Link here. Excerpt:

'For both sexes, those who seek uncommitted trysts rely on assertive strategy, survey finds.

SUNDAY, Sept. 4 (HealthDay News) -- When it comes to aggressive courtship strategies, sexist men and women seem to be perfect for each other, new research suggests.

U.S. researchers conducted two surveys: One included 363 college students at a large Midwestern university, and the other was a national Internet poll of 850 adults.

The male and female participants were asked about their sexist attitudes toward women and whether they were willing to engage in uncommitted or short-term sex. Men were also asked how often they used assertive strategies to initiate relationships and women were asked if, and to what degree, they found these types of advances desirable.

The researchers found that men who favored casual sex were more likely to use aggressive courtship strategies, while women who were also open to casual sex were more likely to respond to such approaches.'

How is assertiveness when pursuing sexual gratification sexist? Answer: When a man does it. When a woman does it, it's all about women's empowerment.

I think the phrase "sexual fulfillment" sounds better than "sexual gratification" as the latter sounds rather tawdry. Thugh I do agree with your analysis of the feminist double standard regarding when a man does it vw. when a woman does it.

As a further note, the word "sexist" has lost its meaning to me, as generally used in the mainstream media. The default meaning seems to be so-called discrimination etc. against women, and the word can only have meaning when it applies to discrimination against men too.
