'Smoking is the main reason why on average men die sooner than women across Europe, according to research.
World Health Organization figures on death rates reveal tobacco-related illness accounts for up to 60% of the gender health gap in most countries.
In the UK, women live an average of four years longer than men, although in recent years the gap has been closing.
Second to smoking, alcohol accounts for about 20% of the disparity, the journal Tobacco Control reports.'

BS
The main reason why men die sooner on average is we are subjected to a lot more stress in our lives than women. We work harder, we work longer, we are more likely to lose our children in divorce, we are discriminated against in school and in the law, and we are constantly attacked for who we are.
The main reason men die sooner is misandry.
Well said, Rand
That would explain why men smoke and drink more. It's very likely that just a non-causal association. I wonder if the study measured work hours, stress levels, job deaths, etc.
