Psych studies ordered for jailed homeschooling dad

Story here. Excerpt:

'Unspecified psychological studies or evaluations have been ordered for a jailed father who, in violation of the procedures of the government-run social services that instructed police officers to abduct his then-7-year-old son because he was being homeschooled, took him home for a visit.

Details are sketchy about the local court hearing, held just before Christmas, in the Gotland, Sweden, case involving Christer Johansson, but a Swedish broadcast station website reveals that Johansson is accused of kidnapping or unlawful detention for the Thanksgiving week incident in which he took his son, now 9, with him following a social services-supervised visit.
...
Government authorities then awarded custody of Domenic to social services because he was being homeschooled, and he has been allowed visits with his parents only about once every five weeks since.'

This is crazy!!

Children belong to the parents not the government. Unless parents are harming the children in some way, there is no reason for the government to decide how children should be educated.

As far as I understand US law, all children need to be educated. That's it. There is nothing that demands parents to send their children to school or that educators must be "certified" or anything like that. I am sure government run schools have stipulations about teacher certification or qualifications, but that is because they are making rules for their own employees. Any educational rules they make would not (and should not) extend to private citizens or private schools choosing to educate without the government. They have no jurisdiction to even demand that parents inform school officials of their homeschooling, and government can not lawfully demand annual assessments of a homeschooled child. If there is a concern, the burden of proof is on them to prove that a parent is not educating their child, not the other way around! But many schools and state politicians ignore this.

Many state laws are in total violation of parent's rights and try and intimidate parents into thinking that they still make educational decisions for your child! IMO, homeschooling rights must be protected.

I realize the article is about a family in Sweden. At first I had a little trouble getting all the facts of the story. If I understand correctly, this is a married family that apparently had their son taken away for homeschooling (is homeschooling illegal in Sweden?). Their young son has been in foster care for over a year. During a visit the father "kidnapped" his son and went on the run with him for a few days before being arrested.

Does anyone know why the child has been away from his parents for so long? I wonder if there is something more to this story. There is a "fringe" group of homeschooling parents that have extreme beliefs, but they are a small part of the homeschooling population, and they are usually no worse than what children might encounter in the public school system.

Let's be clear, this has nothing to do with reason. This also has nothing to do with the welfare of the child.

This is a way for the state to let us know about the heights of dominating power that it has now reached. It is an indication of state control over the people, particularly people of the male persuasion. Like the USSR sent men who disagreed with their policies to jails for the insane, so will the state (Sweden, UK, USA, etc.) probably do that to maintain its power in the years ahead. Those who go their own way, and those who lead lives other than those which are officially approved by the Femi-nazis in power, will be designated as terrorists, criminals, and enemies of the state. MRAs should anticipate this type of a response in order to squash their voices.

This incident is also an indication of the great fear that state officials have, a fear that people will once again take back power over their lives. These officials demand compliance, no matter what the price to be borne by the people.
