Sounds more like extortion, corruption, and abuse of official authority to me. They would not have done this to women, that's for sure! Thanks to Marc A. for pointing this one out.

Stone Park sued on vice arrests: Prostitution stings called moneymakers for western suburb

'A federal lawsuit filed Thursday claims as many as 900 men arrested in prostitution stings were wrongly targeted by Stone Park police in an operation designed to generate income for the tiny village.

The class-action lawsuit, which names 12 plaintiffs, was filed in U.S. District Court and expands on a suit filed last year by nine men who claim an undercover officer posing as a prostitute arrested them even after they turned her down.

The stings occurred when men stopped at the Blue Dolphin, Horwitz said, and were approached by a female undercover officer who offered to perform a sexual act with them.

"They say, `No,'" Horwitz said. "And regardless of what they say, 30 seconds to a minute later, they'll be arrested."

Police told the men it would be their word against the officer's, Horwitz said. Several defendants were found not guilty, others fought the charges but were found guilty and several pleaded guilty under pressure that their names would be published in a local paper if they were found guilty after fighting the charges, according to the complaint.'

One has to wonder why "prostitution stings" NEVER go the other way - why are there no male police officers dressed up as johns arresting female prostitutes? I thought it was illegal to sell and to buy?

The whole legal issue of entrapment is glaringly obvious in this case.

So, a guy washing his car, with no intention of soliciting a prostitute, is approached by an undercover female cop; then she propositions HIM and he says "sorry, I'm just washing my car babe..." and then he gets arrested?

What exactly was his crime, other than being male?

I know a little bit about this racket, because I have a female cousin who is a vice cop in Austin TX.

Her "beat" is the john-trolling fake prostitute game.

She dresses up as a whore and goes hunting for johns every night.

Funny thing is, she's a lesbian!

That's gotta hurt when the perp gets busted for mistaking a gay female for the commodity he was after.

When I was younger, there was a TV show on that was doing just that: undercover cop hiring female prostitutes to arrest them. My mom actually said "that is so unfair how they do that to those poor girls." Yep, as long as it's females were talking about, it's unfair.
