F&F: NOW Criticizes F & F over Campaign to Ask DSM to Include PAS in latest edition

Article here. Excerpt:

'A group of 50 mental health experts from 10 countries are part of an effort to add Parental Alienation Disorder to the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM V), the American Psychiatric Association’s “bible” of diagnoses. This scientific coalition is led by psychiatrist William Bernet, who explains that adding PAD to DSM “would spur insurance coverage, stimulate more systematic research, lend credence to a charge of parental alienation in court, and raise the odds that children would get timely treatment.”

Fathers & Families wants to ensure that the DSM-5 Task Force is aware of the scope and severity of Parental Alienation. To this end, in December we asked our supporters to write the Task Force to urge them to consider including Parental Alienation Disorder in DSM-5. As usual, the response was overwhelming. It also helped lead to progress–while as expected the newly-released draft version does not specifically include Parental Alienation Disorder, the DSM-5 Task Force has now listed Parental Alienation Disorder among the “Conditions Proposed by Outside Sources…that are still under consideration by the work groups.” Gaining inclusion isn’t easy–David J. Kupfer, M.D., the chair of the DSM-V Task Force, recently told the media that with any disorder proposed for inclusion, ”The door to get in [the manual] is pretty hard.”
...

The National Organization for Women is very concerned about our efforts, condemning them in March and again in their recent media release NOW Foundation Opposes Phony Parental Alienation Disorder. In it, the NOW Foundation references Fathers & Families’ DSM Campaign and explains “The ‘disorder’ has been proposed…to be added to the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostics and Statistics Manual - V to give it more legitimacy than it currently has — or should have — in court.” The NOW Foundation has also written the DSM Task Force, urging them to reject PAD.

NOW repeatedly encourages us to believe that Parental Alienation is “discredited” by family law experts and professionals. This is absolutely not the case–those who believe, as NOW does, that Parental Alienation is a fiction are a decided minority within the field.'

There was an expose written by a woman psychologist that provided information that the DSM, since the beginning has been financed by chemical companies. The DSM isn't doing what it was supposed to do in the first place. Psychologists have been reduced to the equivalent of the street drug pusher, and psychiatrists are the dealer, they have to sign the scrip. This was a few years back. I haven't noticed any backlash from the book, nor have I seen the industry doing anything different. Keep the sheep placated with drugs, and keep them working, the mission of our mental medical professionals.

who is competent and has worked with children much
knows that getting complete control of children,
via 'automatic' custody awards based on gender
and all the other scams these women wanta bees (n.o.w.)
have been foisting on the sheep, gives that person license
to turn young minds to any agenda the abuser wants.
that imposed doctrine being hatred of all things male, primarily due to jealousy (imho).

today's crop of adults merely reflect their success.

want proof? you have to point out the constant stream of
man hatred in the media, and everywhere else in society, to even get folks to see it.

womyn got all these privileges while the worker bees were
busy making ends meet. now they will lie, cheat and steal
to hold onto them. nothing they aren't familiar with though.

...the DSM is merely the book of the alternative religion that is the mental health industry. I mean, the whole mental health industry exists to push drugs based on completely subjective diagnosis (like religious faith, the entire foundation on of the mental health industry is self fulfillment of prophesy - you believe you are sick, you believe what they tell you, you believe you are better). Want to know the truth? The 'cure' for any mental disorder is simply this - whatever you convince your self of that makes you change the behavior that was troubling you. You believe pills work - then they do. You believe whatever form of therapy you are into work, it does. You believe whatever you cut from your diet or have squirted up your ass, or wear on the soles of your feet, or poke your self with or whatever it is you do works, then it does.

We used to call mental health disorders 'demonic possession' and it was the role of the church to keep you sane and happy. Now we have the new shamans with fancy letters behind their names with their new tricks perform the same old miracles.

Not to make light of PAD as I definitely believe that kids can be turned against one parent by the other, but that's just manipulation, lies and coercion of a vindictive parent lumped categorically under a single title.

It's all fine and dandy to get into the DSM because it will help families who have been torn asunder by lies and cruel manipulations expose those them in court, but at the end of the day trading one Bible for another does not get us as a species any closer to actually understanding the workings of the human mind.
