Broadview (formerly Brinks) Security's "Arrgghh bad men!" ads

I have seen several Broadview Security ads recently. The theme is the same: a woman alone or alone with a child suddenly has her home invaded quite overtly and aggressively by a lone man who seems to know her from some place (who could that be... hmmm? An ex-bf, ex-husband, etc.) and who just plain kicks in the front door of her house but is fast deterred by a loud alarm and a phone call to the Broadview call center.

There are a few variations on the ad but they are all the same in their plot. One example is shown here with Sarah Haskins of InfoMania hitting the nail right on the head with her discussion of the foolishness of these ads. Her "Target Women" commentaries are simply not to be missed.

Contact info for Broadview is here. They don't seem to have an email address so may I suggest you call them and say you are ready to buy a security system right now. Then when they get all excited, say that on second thought since it seems based on their ads that the system is designed to protect women from intruders and so probably won't work for you, you will instead go with an ADT System, but thanks anyway... then, hang up.

Money doesn't talk, it screams.

Yeah, I've seen these same commercials. They're pretty blatant, and stupid.

At first it was random violent stereotypical criminals just bursting through windows and breaking open doors.

Lately it's the nice guy she just met who she was flirting with at the door moments before. They say good night and she turns on the security then for some inexplicable reason he decides to break into her house and attack her. This is, of course, how men act.

Jay I recall that commercial, the first time I saw it I thought the same thing but the second time it looked more like another guy was breaking in, perhaps waiting outside until he knew she was alone. While it's not PRO male, at least it acknowledges a difference between thugs and criminals, and the rest of the male population, if only passingly.
