Intact America in The Washington Post‏

From IA's recent email:

'Over the history of circumcision, there's been one justification after another," said Intact America's Georganne Chapin in a Washington Post article reviewing the debate over routine circumcision last week.

Hundreds of concerned readers have written comments in response to the article's apparent bias in favor of circumcision – and The Washington Post subsequently published a letter to the editor from John Geisheker of Doctors Opposing Circumcision. Read his letter to the editor and post your own comment >>

A new study finds little evidence that circumcision can prevent sexually transmitted infections, urinary tract infections, and penile cancer. Read the article >>

Reader's Digest features the story of Lia Boldt, a mother who turned to her state's court system to prevent her nine-year-old son from being circumcised against his wishes. Read the story >>

Also, please take action:

'Last week, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Task Force on Circumcision met to finalize the organization's new policy on circumcision – which could recommend circumcision for all baby boys.

Before the AAP releases its statement, we need to make sure it hears directly from people who oppose infant circumcision.

Send a message to the AAP right now and tell them that routine neonatal circumcision is wrong – morally, medically, and ethically.'

I know it's paranoid, but whenever I see an anti-male proposal like the CDC's, I look for the cold, dead hand of feminism, two or three layers removed. Since some states don't pay for circ in their Medicaid, I wonder if Obama's health bill will quietly slip in a line to make the coverage universal?

Checking out the comments, the few female posters who loudly supported circ made my back teeth ache. What gall! Sorta like cut and intact women debating FGM, with a number of men aggressively defending the practice. So much for the My Body, My Business BS.
