The "Men Tax" in Israel: A gender-based flat rate 300$ annual men tax

Article here. Excerpt:

Making men special special gender-based income tax has been part of the feminist agenda for a long time now. However, in Israel a gender-based men tax is already a reality that is well integrated within the income tax system.
...
...if you are a woman, you will get an additional 0.5 credit points just because you are a woman. It doesn't matter if you have children or not. You just have to be a woman. This additional 0.5 credit point worth about 300$* every year.
...
The worst thing about it is that the Israeli government doesn't even try to hide it or excuse it in some way. The Men Tax is proudly mentioned in the official website of the finance ministry. Search for "Tax Credits" and you will see it there. An Official Men Tax!'

1/15/10: UPDATE: What I wrote here originally was wrong:

"Ed. note: A trailing $ indicates the denomination for shekel, or more precisely, the Israeli New Shekel."

I got a note from the O.P. as follows:

"Regarding the article about the men tax in Israel, you have added an editor note that $ means Israeli shekels. But, your ED note is incorrect at this time - I have already converted the amounts to USD, so 300$ in the article means 300 USD."

This is a matter of the social contract for men being shredded a little more. We already get shortchanged by government as it is but if a man tax is thrown into the mix, I would say makes it ok for men to take back that money by cheating on your taxes.

Just don't get caught.

Women of course get a far better deal from government and are obligated to pay their taxes in full. Women should also pay extra to help retire the federal debt.

There are so many stark examples of anti-male discrimination out there, including this one, but so few male lawyers willing to challenge these unjust laws... Do they expect that men's rights groups have money, and that we must pay for their services? Or are they knocking themselves out on other projects trying to pay their alimony and child support payments?

Professor Alberto Alesina of Harvard has long been arguing that Europe and the U.S. should do the same. Spain has been close to it if they aren't haven't, as both the left and the right in Spain supported it.

The best response to this I've seen came from Professor Gilles St. Paul of France.

We need to keep an eye on this issue.

If a man tax is introduced then it's time to start killing people.

Does anyone know the difference in the US, dollar-wise or percentage, between federal subsidies that benefit males versus females?

e.g. The military protects us all to the same degree (I'm talking about the benefits we derive from the military not the obligations)

e.g. Social Security which, due to women's longer life expectancy, mostly goes to women.

e.g. Medicare wich goes mostly to women partly because of greater cost of care for women and a longer life expectancy.

Is there a comprehensive list somewhere with numbers?

This is nothing new. The sexist Indian tax laws give higher exemption for females. See the details here.
