U.N.: Higher rates of males born leads to rape and sex trafficking

Story here. Excerpt:

'HANOI (Reuters) - The ratio of boys born in Vietnam compared with girls has grown at an unusually rapid pace in recent years and could lead to a rise in sex work and trafficking, the United Nations said.

The sex ratio at birth was 112.1 male births per 100 female births in 2008, up from an estimated 106.2 in 2000, the U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA) said in a report.

With growth since 2006 of one percentage point per year, the ratio might cross the 115 mark within three years, it said.

By 2035, the surplus of adult men would be 10 percent or more of the female population if the sex ratio did not return to 105 male births per 100 females, it said.

"Scarcity of women would increase pressure for them to marry at a younger age, there may be a rising demand for sex work and the trafficking networks may also expand in response to this imbalance," UNFPA said.

"Examples of gender-based violence and human trafficking have already been observed in Vietnam and point to some of the risks faced by vulnerable girls and women."'

Sounds like a warm-up for the U.N. to engage in social engineering. They must have read Maureen Dowd's book ('Are Men Necessary...')

...and watch the UN whine about how too many females would lead to an increase in child abuse. Wouldn't happen, not from a group that has agencies to help women but none to help men. Also, don't you love the way they conflate common hooking and trafficking? Amazing.

The UN certainly is a powerful engine promoting women and feminism on a world wide scale. It has its tentacles everywhere. In fact feminism rise on the back of aid. So just think of that when you are tempted to contribute to charity.

Notice the the theory of increased violence against women is based on the possibility that "Scarcity of women would increase pressure for them to marry at a younger age..."

So no one is saying they will be abused, just that they will get married off quicker because essentially the attractive women have the pick of any man they choose so they'll make sure they snag the most eligible single men fast to avoid a competing female from marrying him first. It won't be men who force women to marry younger (women start dreaming of marriage at 4 or 5 and think their all grown up by 12) it will be competition between females to get the best men first that is the driving pressure. Women are almost always the ones who initially want marriage universally irrespective of culture.

But of course as you say, to the UN, hookers are human trafficking victims (despite that nearly all hookers go into hooking of their own free will), and married women are victims of domestic abuse.

The article does not site even ONE piece of evidence to support its claims, and what it does site as reasoning for why it thinks there will be violence against women and girls due to more males being born has nothing at all to do with violence at all. Prostitution has nothing to do with violence despite what modern theorizing has to say on the issue. Marriage is a SOLUTION to violence, alo contrary to modern theory.

Also, in North America we do have the opposite problem, gender preferencing methods leading to an increase in female births. No one is complaining.
