Canada: Bus driver threatened to cut off autistic boy’s head, suit alleges

Story here. Excerpt:

'OTTAWA — The mother of an autistic boy says he continues to suffer from severe emotional trauma after his school bus driver allegedly threatened to cut his head off with an axe, according to documents filed in court Tuesday.

The boy’s mother has filed a $750,000 lawsuit against the bus driver, the driver’s employer and the school board for the “serious and permanent consequences” sustained by the boy, including post-traumatic stress disorder, a statement of claim said.
...
After the boy began crying, his bus driver, Ariette Schoorl, threatened to cut off his head if he didn’t stop, according to the plaintiff’s claim. “The defendant then proceeded to remove the emergency axe located on the bus to further emphasize her threat,” the document said. “The incident terrified (the child).”

Even if thats all it was thats bad enough, but as we've seen in Brazil, Kuwait and the US in recent days, it's quite possible that she meant it.

Curiosity: If this was your son, what would you do? I think I know the answer.

When push comes to shove, a mother will always defend her son. Maybe his mother should confront this bus driver and beat the crap out of her.

Your thoughts?

Haha,

As far as getting physical...

You know, I have this weird confidence that I could take anyone in a fight, even some guys. I have no idea if it is true or not, but I feel like I could.

My dad was a wrestling coach, and he coached me and my brother. Every Christmas my dad clears out a room and matches up family members to wrestle (age about 16 and under, although one time my two uncles went at it). It has become a weird tradition in my family, but everyone loves it.

I had always beat my brother until we were about 15 (strange how the videos are now missing from the family library).

Anyway... back to your question...

yeah, I could definitely go off on the bus driver (she's probably fat and lazy like most bus drivers)

But this example is why kids need a stay at home parent. I know it is a financial hardship for most families, but if this mom has any means to stay home she should. I read the article and her son clearly needs a parent to watch over him. (A stay at home mom would have driven her autistic son to school!)

Even on the day of the incident, the autistic child was 7 and not emotionally ready to ride the bus which is why he was screaming and crying hysterically. This does not excuse the bus driver's actions and perhaps the mom did not know her child would act that way. But I often wonder why women put careers before the needs of their child.

I hope the mother wins her lawsuit, and I hope she uses the money to stay home and care for her son.
