UK: "When feminism went nuts"

Article here. Excerpt:

'It is Friday evening at Liverpool Street station, London, and while browsing commuters kill time in WH Smith before their trains, a dozen young women attack a stand of lads’ magazines. Over the covers of Nuts, Zoo, GQ and Loaded — “50 Boobiest Blondes”, “Summer’s real breast fest” — they slip brown paper bags adorned with handwritten slogans: “Don’t be Nuts — get this sexism out of my face”, “Stop mainstreaming porn”, “FHM: For Horrible Misogyny”.

Soon the mags in bags cover a whole shop wall and the women, activists from the feminist group Object, pause exhilarated yet apprehensive, awaiting a response. Mostly people are puzzled. A few men sidle out of the shop. But when Object asks women to sign its petition, to have lads’ mags reclassified as porn and displayed on top shelves, no one refuses. “I never feel comfortable when they’re on the counter in a newsagent’s,” says one woman, clutching a copy of Grazia. Finally the store manager comes over and actually apologises. “I don’t like selling them,” he shrugs, “but it’s company policy.”'

I read this entire article and it clearly is written by an eloquent woman, feminist though she says she is. But alas the entire thing lacks cogency. It lacks not just that but consistency of viewpoint. On the one hand she is recounting how a group of young women can march into a store selling "lad's magazines" and pretty much put customers off from buying them by slipping papers into them lambasting the publication and otherwise causing a fuss. [Notice no police were called to disperse the troublesome rabble-crowd of girls. But let's just see what happens (not that I think it would) if a group of young men descended on a magazine shop and did the same thing but with women's magazine's ("laddettes' mags"?) as the target? They'd be hauled away in paddy-wagons.] Then on the other, it portrays women of this same generation as being hugely successful in ways that clearly outdo "the boys".

But the contrast doesn't end there - she then launches into an attack on strip joints/lap-dances for sale. It seems she thinks it's a travesty that some women are selling their sexual favors (maybe not too many favors but just a few and of a certain kind) to men. She says this is exploitative of the women. Yet, I ask you, who is doing the paying here?

She suggests that girls being proud of their sexual abilities is somehow "regressive". Well if I recall correctly, one of the most fundamental tenants of feminism in the '60s was that women, including those as young as 16 (in which case they are girls, but ask a feminist of that time, and anything female over age 10 was, in her book, a woman), should be free to be as sexually liberated as she wanted to be. That was the basis of the idea of permitting birth-control of all kinds and remains an issue until this day, as we all know. So what's it gonna be, Door A or Door B, or does it depend on the time of day?

Ms. Turner seems incapable of determining from just what point of view, or from what "school of feminism", she is writing this article. If she is the typical feminist, and I think she probably is, her point of view at any given moment will coincide with whatever line of thinking holds men responsible in a negative sense for anything she is seeing and upholds women and girls as innocents, victimized by "society" or more accurately, men and boys. Women such as her insist after all these years that women are at once empowered and independent and at the same time the hapless and exploited victims of PATRIARCHY. If you are wondering at any given point which of these two truths is current, just ask yourself how something can be described in such as way as to point all blame for X at men and all credit for Y toward women-- there and then will you have the answer.

The more porn the better. I see porn as an important item in resisting feminism. If porn treats women as sex objects then so be it. Men are free to see women in anyway they choose and seeing them that way is far better than the grovelling servitude that the feminist would inflict on us. By the way if men regard women as sex objects have you ever asked how women regard men. Well they see us as just objects. We don't even make it into the realm of having any human instinct like sex associated with us.

I will say it again -Women are Filth!

that magazine has nothing but sex advertized on the front and its always in the checkout lanes at the grocery.
any little girl or little boy that can read has to wonder what all of that is about.
they cuntinuously write magazines about what drives a man wild. and these are always written by women.
i'd love to write the article for them - but they probably wouldn't like what they'd get. but it would drive (some) men wild for sure.
they only intend to drive them wild until they get the ring the house the kids the 401k etc....then they could care less about THAT guy...its off to another....
