Boy bowlers now put on equal playing field with girls

Story here. Excerpt:

'OELWEIN - Oelwein High School will be offering a newly-sanctioned boys’ varsity sport following approval granted by the Board of Education at its May meeting Monday night.

The board unanimously approved the local sanctioning of boys’ bowling as a varsity sport beginning with the 2009-2010 school year.

The action by the board comes after the Iowa High School Athletic Association granted approval within the past month to sanction boys’ bowling as an official Iowa high school sport.'

Playing games has to be equal in general. girls should be included.Lou Merloni is going to be getting a lot of flak. Lou Merloni, a onetime player for the Boston Red Sox, broke allegations of steroid use in the organization. He said that performance enhancing drugs weren't necessarily endorsed, but that a team doctor came in and told players that they were illegal, yet there was a way to use them and not suffer ill effects. Some people would give installment loans to make the whole thing go away. Team official Dan Duquette has refuted the presence or message of said physician. Steroid penalties in Major League Baseball add up to more than a cash advance; it was incredibly brave of Lou Merloni to come forward.

Maybe that's why they didn't already feel pressured to create a boys team?
