Hotel Trends: Where the boys aren't
Story here. Excerpt:
'Safety. Comfort. Luxurious bath products. The freedom to go padding down the hallway in jammies and slippers.
With selling points like these, hotel floors for women travellers - after being dismissed as old-fashioned, sexist and just plain insulting a quarter century ago - are making a comeback.
At the Crowne Plaza Bloomington in Minnesota, female travellers opting for the women-only floor enjoy fresh flowers, makeup mirrors and plush robes in their rooms as well as complimentary snacks and fashion magazines in a communal area. Following a strategy similar to the executive floor common to many luxury properties, access to this female enclave is by keycard only.
...
The Hamilton Crowne Plaza in Washington, D.C., takes catering to women a step further by offering the services of a bellman or security staff to walk nervous female guests to restaurants or other destinations in the vicinity of the hotel.'

someday
Who knows, maybe someday there will be men's only locker rooms.
How this differs from race accomodation
It's illegal to discriminate in public accommodations, even if they are not gov't-owned businesses, based on race, handicap, religion, creed, and sex.
But wait, it is Ok to do so if you only do it a little bit. That is, if you set aside one or two floors for people of only one ethnic group or religious affiliation, and the rest of the "place is festival lodging", then it's OK.
But wait, it isn't. Or wait, maybe it is, as long as you do so in favor of one sex over the other. And as long as that sex is female.
Imagine after a long day, maybe some white (or black or Asian, etc.) folk would say, as one Sarah Browne quoted toward the end of the article puts it, "there is something cocooningly safe about being with my tribe." So then, it'd be all right.
Oh yeah, and if you get extra amenities there in your little cocoon, ones no one else gets on the "mixed sex floors", well then, it's all OK.
If you're female.
There is no doubt that
There is no doubt that having gender based accomodations is sexist and stupid. It is reassuring that a couple of the hotel owners put down the idea, tho. They don't disagree for the same reason that I dislike it, but they make a good point. They pointed out that the idea would be offensive to women, and imply that they need taking care of. That's true, but the reason I don't like the idea is because it is undeniable evidence of a "women are more valuable than men" mentality. I believe that until this mentality is gone, the plight of the MRA will never end.

Men need to start setting up
Men need to start setting up their own private clubs and men-only spaces. If the female filth complains, then we can just point to examples like these and other private women only clubs and tell them to get stuffed. It's not right that women have actively pursued an agenda of getting men-only organisation/clubs to admit women, all the while women are increasing their share of women only venues. There needs to be more action from men, too many are idly standing by letting our rights slip away. We need to start treating this as the war it is. One day pretty soon we're going to wake up and find ourselves as a slave class, if we aren't already one.
I agree
I would like to open a fitness club for men only someday. When asked why I don't have women as members, I'll say what women always use as an excuse for their sexism: "I don't enjoy working out with women because it makes me feel awkward. There are a lot of men who feel the same way." lol. That would put them in their place!
