World Net Daily: "Selective feminism"
Article here. Excerpt:
'But feminists are selective in their advocacy. They hate femininity (which they see as weakness) and loath women who choose traditional roles (try voicing support of housewives in any college women's studies course and see what happens). Stay-at-home moms are seen as traitors to the Cause.
...
Modern feminism has become little more than collective whining from women who never are, and never can be, satisfied until … I dunno, they have world domination or something.
...
Feminists do not just want equal opportunity, which already exists. They want equal outcome – equal numbers of men and women in all fields, most especially the male-dominated, high-paying fields such as engineering, mathematics and the physical sciences. (I don't see them clamoring for equal representation in such dangerous fields as mining, logging, taxi driving, or even farming.) No, only a high status career – as defined by feminists – will do, thank you.'

in recent years (FYI)
there has been a rash of female and minority
"engineers and architects" who have by-passed the
traditional method of attaining "professional" status.
example of traditional method: go to an accredited
engineering school, get an engineering degree,
complete an internship,
pass the EIT & PE tests and THEN and only then
get awarded the coveted
"professional engineer (P.E.)" behind the name.
new dumbed down method: get a degree in some "related field",
work for some firm doing "similar" minded work,
pass the dumbed down tests, and "POOF", instant p.e.
got them all over the place.
if they didn't have enough medical PHD's i suspect they would let
degreed? medical workers, after 5 years working doing "similar" work,
take some med-lite tests and "POOF", more doctors.
oh yeah, they don't like to talk about it either.
get VERY defensive.
i've heard the EIT can even be avoided by having enough years of
"related" work under your belt. not sure of that one though.
don't think this EASY button route is available in every state, YET.
In a sense, this is same ol' same ol'
Nothing's ever a problem 'til it affects women. Maybe this will trigger the downfall of feminism ..when enough ordinary women realize that it is an elitist movement and does not work in their interests.
[actually I don't believe men acting alone can undo feminism, regardless. There will also have to be a large number of women involved in the fight.]

daveinga, that's interesting
with regards to engineers and especially P.E.'s. How exactly do they manage to do that (bypass the system)? When I was in college, I had a small but significant number of female classmates in that major. I even saw some or most of them in the same room as me when I took the EIT.
[Of course one must take into account that there are lots of engineers who don't go on to get P.E.'s, but I guess that's mostly a different issue.]

Better Than Equal Opportunities
Today most of the new professors being hired in the sciences and engineering are women even though the overwhelming majority of graduating doctorates are men. There's an entire generation of talent being deliberately wasted in the name of political correctness.
I'm all for equal opportunities. The outcomes are another matter entirely. Opportunities for men are being artificially restricted so that female outcomes will match male outcomes.
from what i can gather
they are saying that you don't need to have the degree
to take the tests.
my buddy in the know said it is so organizations like the COE (and others)
can fill their ranks. females (in particular) are just not
choosing engineering. california is one of
those states that allows this to happen. had a female p.e. tell me.
doesn't much matter to me anymore, i'll retire soon.
but it is happening, and as usual, being ignored,
because of the gender involved. remember, ANYTHING goes,
if it helps women get ahead.
and by the way, these non-grads are promotable at places like the COE,
beyond gs12 because of the p.e. general eng. grads w/o the p.e. top out
at gs12, usually.
imho - once feminists get control of what it takes to get a p.e., then
they pretty much control who enters the profession in the future.
to hell w/ an actual education. that will FIX the problem women have
competing in engineering.
this country is dooooomed. doooomed i say.
but, it will be a kinder, gentler technology
I actually saw it on some board..some feminist ideologue in academia is trying to change the way tech and science ed are done: it is patriarchal, too much competition, etc. Of course her "solution" will make the country less competitive in the global market.
