UK: Woman assaults gov't official, no arrest or charges pending

'An anti-Heathrow protester has sloshed green custard into Business Secretary Lord Mandelson's face as he arrived at the Government's low carbon economy summit.

Leila Deen, an activist from campaign group Plane Stupid, covered the politician's face in pea-green goo as he got out of his ministerial car.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said no complaint had been received on the matter.'

This reminds me of something that happened here in Canada about ten years ago. Somebody threw a pie in the face of then prime minister, Jean Chretien. As funny as it was, it was still assault, and the guy was arrested. She should be arrested too.

...and guess what. The MAN sure as hell didn't get away with it-- Christopher Geoghegan in 2003 pied then premier ralph klein and recieved a 30 day sentence plus 40 hours of community service. 30 days in jail for a pie in the face? Many felt this was too harsh. But anyway I suppose some kind of punishment was in order. The fact that this woman recieved no punishment at all once again shows more evidence of the sentencing disparity between men and women

Leila Deen was arrested for the incident. She is out on bail and has a court date.
