'Age of Testosterone comes to end in Iceland'

Story here. Excerpt:

'Iceland, ravaged throughout history by volcanic eruptions and natural catastrophes, is struggling with a man-made disaster so overwhelming that the women are taking over. It is, they say here, the end of the Age of Testosterone.

Next week a newly minted left-leaning Government led by Johanna Sigurdardottir will start to tackle the tough agenda of cleaning out the old-school-chum networks that have led Iceland to the verge of bankruptcy.

Half of her Cabinet will be women; female advisers carrying briefcases move in and out of the Prime Minister's whitewashed office, a former jailhouse in the middle of Reykjavik. Two women, Birna Einarsdottir and Elin Sigfusdottir, now run the struggling and disgraced New Landsbanki and New Glitnir banks.
...
You can see what is happening,” says Katrin Olafsdottir, Associate Professor of Economics and a member of the board of New Glitnir, which is trying to devise a new mission for the crippled bank. β€œThe men went out there and took these incredibly irrational risks β€” and getting loads of money for doing it, feeling really good about it - and then the women have to come in to clean it up.”'

... we should replace as many female nurses as possible with male ones?

The real tragedy here is that because of the causal misattribution resulting in a syllogism that isn't logically correct:

(ie:
1. Bad financial decisions were made by financial managers
2. Men, or almost all men, made these bad decisions
Conclusion:
3. It is their man-ness that is largely responsible or entirely responsible for the bad decision-making.
)

the actual means of correcting Iceland's financial trouble may well not be uncovered.

If the people in Iceland think that by the fact that they are replacing large numbers of male finance managers with female ones that the results will be a better or functioning financial system, all I can say is, I hope the women they are replacing the men with have more than a few rabbits they can pull out of more than a few hats. If they do though, it won't be because they're female.

So just when did tiny Iceland become the epicenter of the feminist movement?

Iceland has a total population of 320,000. Many SMALL cities in the US have more than that!

And for what it is worth: In 2007, Iceland was ranked as the most developed country in the world by the United Nations' Human Development Index. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iceland

Of course the high honor of being the most developed country in the whole world was because MEN made it happen.

I just pray that the country will go from bankruptcy to total social self-destruction and then watch what happens when women screw up.

Since the Icelandic population is so small men should just up a leave and let women have it to themselves. It makes sense since men are doing to be discriminated against when applying for jobs.

Gotta love articles like this. Remember, boys and girls. Women are always the victim, and can never be stereotyped, but feel free to do so to men! If a problem hits a nation, and it's mainly men in control at the time, obviously it's because there's too many Y chromosomes. A Y chromosome apparently causes problems to magically happen. When the economy takes a hit (like it has been world wide for some time now), it must be men's fault. No one else's!

But in all seriousness, how can people be ridiculously illogical to the point that they would appoint people to financial positions not based on a person's credentials, but by what set of reproductive organs they have? Well, at least these women have a chance to prove how fallible they are in the same position. Hopefully they will be criticised just the same for their shortcomings as well.

The schools are failing and are run by women. But somehow we just dance around the issue and never address. Why not fire all the failing teachers? Why not fire the teachers that carry a war against men into the classroom?

Oh, right... Those failing teachers are likely women, aren't they?

Its something I've been saying for quite some time. Not only is the inept quality of teachers ignored, women's groups think giving them more money without performance based incentives will solve the problem.
