NY Times: "My Sister’s Keeper"
Article here. Excerpt:
'THEY called it a lesbian paradise, the pioneering women who made their way to St. Augustine, Fla., in the 1970s to live together in cottages on the beach. Finding one another in the fever of the gay rights and women’s liberation movements, they built a matriarchal community, where no men were allowed, where even a male infant brought by visitors was cause for debate.
Emily Greene was one of those pioneers, and at 62 she still chooses to live in a separate lesbian world. She and 19 other women have built homes on 300 rural acres in northeast Alabama, where the founders of the Florida community, the Pagoda, relocated in 1997.
...
For Ms. Adams, every choice she makes today — which restaurant to go to, which contractor to hire, which music to listen to — is guided by a preference to be around women.
“To me, this is the real world,” she said. “And it’s a very peaceful world. I don’t hear anything except the leaves falling. I get up in the morning, I go out on my front deck and I dance and I say, ‘It’s another glorious day on the mountain.’ Men are violent. The minute a man walks in the dynamics change immediately, so I choose not to be around those dynamics.”
“Outside the gate, it’s still a man’s world,” said Ms. Hall, who retired as the publisher of a gay and lesbian newspaper in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Fla., and moved to Alapine in 2006. “And women are not safe, period. It’s just that simple.”'

Why are they different from any other separatist community?
I don't see this group of man-haters any differently than white separatists or any other racist-separatist communities.
They should look closely and eliminate every single thing that came from men in their lives. Let's see how long they last...
Joe Biden
This sounds like a utopia for VAWA Joe.

wonder if vawa joe realizes
that he too could make history,
just like his arab hero obama.
just have the operation joe,
and be our first female v.p.
you're perfect for the part old girl.
Honestly...
...I'm glad they're not a part of society. Do we really need them spewing hate and misandry? Good riddance!

NY Times - from respectable news source to feminazi shill rag
No surprise to me why the NY Times is laying off staff left and right and down to selling advertising on their front page.
Now that a powerful Mexican businessman has significant influence over the NY Times Co. via $250 million in loans (what, hadn't heard? "Read all about it" as they say right here:
http://chattahbox.com/business/2009/01/21/new-york-times-borrows-250-mil-from-mexican-businessman-to-stay-afloat/ ), I wonder where the overall editorial orientation will go? I suppose it could get worse in a general sense but after seeing stories about feminist lesbian separatists in this paper who are described as "pioneers", I can only recall some of the horrible Nazi papers that used similar language to describe members of THE PARTY who wouldn't allow themselves to be within 50 meters of anyone who wasn't "Aryan". When at the bottom, no place to go but up... guess we shall see!
Hey did anyone else notice the name of the story page: "womyn.html" - wonder if they'll start spelling "men" with a 'y' now too instead of an 'e'... :)
Good Riddance
I can only assume that the NYT printed this to remind us what a favor these man-phobic lesbians were doing for the rest of us when they got lost. Please, stay lost, nobody misses your ugly, hateful presence. Let's hope more man-phobes choose to follow suit.
Isn't it great how their actual phobia of straight men is AOK but anyone with a "phobia" of anything else is subject to social and legal sanctions?
Welcome to the Bronze Age
That's about where human societies stop developing when women are calling the shots, canaryguy.
Pitiful
"Emily Greene was one of those pioneers, and at 62 she still chooses to live in a separate lesbian world."
This is the epitome of a politically correct name --
"Separate Lesbian World."
