NPR show: 'Raising Boys'
Submitted by anthony on Sun, 2008-12-28 04:19
Show here. From the page:
'If you’ve paid attention to the media lately, you’ve heard that American boys are in crisis - lagging behind educationally, and disconnected from their masculinity. Others argue that these problems are no more a part of boys’ lives than snakes, snails and puppy dog tails - and that maybe it’s pressure to be stereotypically manly that exacerbates the difficulties they do experience. Join us this Wednesday when we look at the status of boys from both sides, and see what challenges are involved in raising boys today. Because this is a show from our archives, we won’t be taking calls this hour.'

Gee, I wonder how this will go?
It's from NPR. It claims that it will be looking at the "status of boys" (note the feminist terminology) from "both sides". Given that the topic is (or ought to be) how to best raise innocent children, which sides would those be? People who care about the lives and experiences of innocent children on one side and feminists who think that women should be free to neglect, screw and murder boys without suffering criminal penalties on the other? Yeah, that'd be a typically fair treatment of a gender issue by NPR.
As a side issue I have to wonder: if women are supposedly so wonderful and nurturing around children, why are feminists the ones using little boys as political pawns?
And then there's the "related links" that spoil the whole surprise for those that don't already know what's coming:

# The truth about Boys and Girls
# Understanding & Raising Boys
# Boys Will Be Boys?
# The Boy Code: Myths that Create Challenges for Boys
Hmm. I wonder where this could be going...

Thanks, but no thanks. I think I'll save myself some time and skip this little gem.
No kidding!
Despite NPR's well known anti-male bias I'm supposed to listen to a full hour of this rubbish? Give me a break!
I'm thinking they'll give a weak defence of boys on one side and an emphasis on the female supremicist point of point of view that boys have to be crushed and brought to bear. And the question occurs to me: What kind of scumbag tries to harm children?
NPR seems to be on hard times -- three supplementary fundraisers in December on my station. And I have money to donate but won't because of their anti-male bias. I podcast what I listen to so I can skip 10 minutes of their fundbegging in 30 seconds.
there are solutions/comment after hearing show

First of all I gave it a full hearing and the problem of the education system is evident. Government. How can the government know after 12 years of education how to teach someone to be employable since the government per se knows nothing about the economy or jobs? Our bailout should show that they don't handle money well.
Who should educate? There is a concept developing that says that the banks, the engineers, the accounting firms, the private free enterprise sector should be teaching our children right from kindergarten. A major problem with government education is the budget. They cut out recess and physical ed. when there shouldn't even be a budget for education. It should fall from the trees! Math, reading, books should come from anyone who can teach and they should be in the classrooms! It's possible. More and more industrialists are beginning to believe it's their place to develop tomorrow's labor market and are willing to do it. They have a solution for gender equality. They train and educate people, not genders. Simple yet the government doesn't understand the concept of simple. They'd rather peel an orange with a jackhammer.
I always advise myself to avoid contempt prior to investigation. I heard the segment so that I know what they are saying and I can analyze the frailties and discover for myself why our education system isn't working. Please hear it then evaluate it for yourselves.
Check out the Libertarian Concept of education. It's starting to mirror itself everywhere believe it or not. Get government away from your kid! They are not any safer.

That is the program I'd like them to air.
Should I hold my breath?
Or will they have "good reasons" why this happens?
Or will it ultimately be blamed on men, because, those poor dears (the women) just can't cope.
I'm waiting, NPR.
And when you have the courage to air such a broadcast, I will consider providing you money.

Oprah show featured hidden camera busts on male predators yet nothing was mentioned about female predators. Judges try a female differently and we men think she's a hot babe so she gets 10 months. If a man does the same thing he gets 20 to life.
Solution? We men get mad. We no longer have a hot babe tolerance and start seeing women get hit hard. We need to stop being sucked into pity to a pretty face. Yup. I totally agree.
