Story here. Excerpt:
"Major league pitchers will soon have added incentive to strike out batters.
Drugmaker Bayer AG will announce plans Wednesday to donate $10 to prostate cancer research for every strikeout during the regular season this year.
Major League Baseball estimates the four-year partnership could add up to a little more than $300,000 per year. There were 32,189 strikeouts during the regular season in 2007, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Bayer, based in Leverkusen, Germany, will give an additional $1 million to the Prostate Cancer Foundation if a pitcher sets a new record by striking out 21 batters in a game."

Great, it's a start!
A fraction of what other cos. give to breast cancer, but hey, it's a hell of a start! Please say THANK YOU to these folks and encourage them to continue on. Also, and while not meaning to sound like I am examining the gift-horse's teeth, but rewarding strike-outs seems like kind of a downer-- can they also reward home runs? Wow, can I be a wet blanket or what? :)
Really, this is good news, and so I think Bayer should get a big kudos. Contact Bayer via email form here.
Strike-Out
The slogan could be..."Lets Strike-Out Prostate Cancer"
As for the one million for 21 strikeouts. I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. That's a tough record to break.
Oh, Men's Health Does Count?
Well, good for Bayer aspirin!
I hope they get their money back in good publicity.
FYI
As most know taking an aspirin a day greatly reduces the risk of heart attacks. Even during a heart attack, an aspirin is considered a good tool for survival.
Though its never mentioned throughout the MSM men are at MUCH greater risk for sudden cardiac death. Half of all heart attacks fit this category.
I usually take Motrin for headaches, but now I'm switching to Bayer aspirin.
Boycott list......
........A very important component to the MANN site
I have an idea. How about creating a list of pro-male companies?
Unfortunately its rare to see a major corporation tackling important male issues.
Man-Friendly Business List
Good idea, anthony, even though ...its rare to see a major corporation tackling important male issues., that means that list maintenance will be greatly simplified. cloud <-> silver lining kinda thing.
What other man-friendly businesses are there, aside from Bayer?
What other man-friendly
What other man-friendly businesses are there, aside from Bayer?
I rarely see commercials since getting my PVR, but Cheerios did have a good one series about a daughter encourage her Dad to eat Cheerios to because it would "get some Cholesterol off you."
Man-Friendly Businesses
Well, first off, let me say good for Bayer for contributing to prostate cancer research, one of the most common fatal illnesses men face these days. I'm glad that some companies care as much about their male clients, as they do their female ones. I also agree with anthony. We should start a list of male friendly businesses. I have a couple suggestions to add to the list.
As someone mentioned, Cheerios would be a good company to add. On top of the commercial mentioned, I recently saw another one for Cheerios and Pampers in which a father puts his son to bed and asks him "Can you say 'Good Night, Dada?'" but his son says "Mama" instead. Then the next morning, after he eats a couple Cheerios he says "Dada". The commercial melted my heart, and I couldn't help but think to myself "finally fathers are being portrayed positively in advertisements! Alleleuia!" But come to think of it, they had another ad a year ago, which showed a father eating breakfast with his toddler. That ad was also pro-male. Cheerios should definitely be on the list.
I think Kokanee should be added too. Unlike every other beer company out there, I've never seen a single misandric advertisement from Kokanee. That's one of the reasons why it's my favourite beer.
I've seen some other ones, but they escape me at the moment. If I remember them, I'll post them. I'm totally for this pro-male business list.
