Story here. Excerpt:
"Authorities in the Florida Panhandle say they have arrested a woman suspected of severely neglecting a 4-year-old boy.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Haines says the boy weighed only 10 pounds when he was hospitalized earlier this month but his condition is improving.
Deputies on Friday arrested 19-year-old Erin Brittany Markes, identifying her only as the boy's caregiver."

But what is more sad?
The acts this woman committed that if true are far worse then any case of sexual molestation (please note I said molestation - not murder, torture, rape, etc... there is a difference though the media sure does not know it) by a male against a child I have ever heard of in my life and that boy has been horrifically abused.
Or the fact that because a woman is the torturer (yes, in my opinion if the facts reported are true the acts committed amount to torture)that the story only warrants 5 sentences worth of reporting in the most clinical unemotional manner I have ever heard acts of nightmarish child abuse reported?
Not one spec of sensationalism. Not one iota of demonization. Not one call for vengeance. Not one one emotional buzz word at all.
No male child abuser has ever received that kind of fair treatment in the media.
How timely.
This is actually quite reminiscent of the "Woman sits on toilet for two years" thing.
A person, obviously incapable of taking care of themselves (one for his age, another for unnamed psychological incompetence) is living in the care of someone who neglects them so severely it's monstrous.
The woman did get fed, yes. But no help (both medical and psychological, which she obviously required) was brought for two years, by which time her physical (and presumably psychological) state had greatly deteriorated.
In this type of situation, I'm of the opinion that we as MRAs should look past the sexes of the abuser and victim and recognize the situation for what it is--tragic, inhuman, and deserving justice.
I'm cheering for long sentences in both neglect cases.
10lbs!
That's a common birth weight for newborns. Tragic. I'm glad he's doing better and apparently will survive.
Paragon's correct. I would equate this situation to torture. Its impossible this woman didn't realize the child was severely malnourished. She simply didn't give a shit or gained some kind of perverse satisfaction watching this boy slowly die.

Pregnant at 14?
According to the story, the mom is 19 years old and her neglected son is 4.
By my math, that means she got herself pregnant when she was 14.
Please raise my taxes so she can squirt out more babies to ignore and neglect.
Where was the father!
If this story gains any MSM momentum you'll constantly hear "where was the father?", to somehow excuse her behaviour.
Maybe she'll conjure up some false story which suggests she was beaten by the father. Somehow, some way, its gotta be his fault.
Why are men some how responsible for a woman's actions?
Female/accountability?

Mother?
I didn't see a direct reference to the girl as his mother in any of the articles I read; she's always "his caregiver."
If she isn't the mother, someone needs to find out how she got her hands on the boy.

-As Good As It Gets
It is true, isn't it. Women seem to have this complex where nothing can be their fault. They have to somehow blame it on somebody else.

One of my favorite movie quotes of all times!
Great reference, I make every woman I meet watch that movie and point out how very true that line is.
