Story here. Excerpt:
'A Shoplifter convicted for the 175th time was spared a prison sentence after magistrates decided to give her another last chance.
Joanne Jones, 31, has faced more than 200 court hearings and served 34 jail terms over the past 16 years, at a cost to the taxpayer of more than £700,000.
But she walked free from the court after Canterbury magistrates decided there was a "chink of light" to suggest she could change – despite the fact that she was on bail when she committed her last offence and is still hooked on heroin.'

Lets end this post with a song dedicated to this kleptomaniac:
"Been Caught Stealing" [Janes Addiction]
"I've been caught stealing;
once when I was 5...
I enjoy stealing.
It's just as simple as that.
Well, it's just a simple fact.
When I want something,
I don't want to pay for it.
I walk right through the door.
Walk right through the door.
Hey all right! If I get by, it's mine.
Mine all mine!
My girl, she's one too.
She'll go and get her a shirt.
Stick it under her skirt.
She grabbed a razor for me.
And she did it just like that.
When she wants something,
She don't want to pay for it.
She walk right through the door.
Walk right through the door.
Hey all right! If I get by, it's mine.
Mine all mine!
We sat around the pile.
We sat and laughed.
We sat and laughed and
Waved it into the air!
And we did it just like that.
When we want something,
We don't want to pay for it.
We walk right through the door.
Walk right through the door.
Hey, all right! If I get by, it's mine,
Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine..."

A nod to feminism
You gotta hand it to the feminist infection of the court system. In school I had to constantly hear about how more men are in jail than women (hence men are more violent) but these stories just keep popping up. No matter how asinine the court system looks, they'll give women "one more chance" everytime. Make sure that she keeps the kids while their at it.
word on the street has it
with all the complaining by men that women don't pay for their crimes there is talk of a new law being proposed. if any woman gets caught 300 times THEN there will be some serious jail time involved. months, not weeks and more awful probation.
advocates have labeled the 300 strike rule.
This Story with a Y chromosome
What would happen to a man who got caught shoplifting for the 175th time? Well, that's actually impossible, b/c if a man was caught shoplifting probably three times, he'd be doing some considerable time. Logically, he probably wouldn't want to steal again b/c he wouldn't want to go back to jail. But let's hypothesize and imagine a man shoplifted 175 times, while on bail, and while addicted to heroin. Would the story have ended the same way? Hell no!
