Norway enforces a law that 40% of directors must be female
Story here. Excerpt:
'A woman comes in, a man goes out. That's how the quota works; that's the law," says Kjell Erik Øie, deputy minister of children and equality, in the centre-left "Red-Green" coalition government in Oslo. "Very seldom do men let go of power easily. But when you start using the half of the talent you have previously ignored, then everybody gains."

So what is stopping companies from appointing women to their boards? Catalyst, an influential New York thinktank, has published a list of the barriers to female advancement to board level. Top of the list is women's lack of management experience, closely followed by women's exclusion from informal networks; stereotypes about women's abilities; a lack of role models; a failure of male leadership; family responsibilities; and naivety when it comes to company politics.

....The quota was presented less as a gender-equality issue, and more as one driven by economic necessity. He argued that diversity creates wealth. The country could not afford to ignore female talent, he said. Norway has a low unemployment rate (now at 1.5%) and a large number of skilled and professional posts unfilled. ...

In June, the TUC and the CBI are due to publish a joint paper, Talent not Tokenism, arguing in favour of promoting diversity on a voluntary basis. The goal is the same as Norway's, the road however may take much longer to travel. "It's a natural instinct to recruit those who are like you," says Marion Seguret, the CBI's senior policy advisor. "Men need to be trained to look to the other 50% of the population."
Back in Oslo, the irrepressible Fagerland says she plays a game with her daughters based on the Swedish fictional character Pippi Longstocking, a girl who believes in herself and is utterly unconventional. "We break all the rules. Everything is turned upside down. We wear pyjamas in the garden and eat sweets before dinner. They love it.'

Norway? Who?
I just performed a casual inventory of the items in my home to see if any were imported/made from Norway. Couldn't find a single thing. Items that were found to be foreign made were from Japan, China, Singapore where female execs are scarcer than chicken's teeth. I think that says something.
What Norway is saying is that women can't compete!
Seriously, all they cite is excuse after excuse. The real reason is that women don't want to put in the hours. Want to be on the board? Easy, start with some talent and then work 15 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every week.
These are the type of things Hillary could implement
If Hillary becomes president look for her to go crazy over gender quotas.
They can afford to be idiots
The Norway population is less than 5 millions and they have giant revenues from gas and petroleum. And they simply don't know how to waste those resources. They can afford to be a freakshow for the whole world.

Single men is the only social group benefited from feminism.
Flawed thinking again
"But when you start using the half of the talent you have previously ignored, then everybody gains."
Nice theory, but fatally flawed if the people you have ignored don't actually have half the talent...and everybody will not gain. Just ask the genuinely talented (because they would not be on these boards if they weren't), experienced men who have proved their worth, but are now booted out of a job to satisfy these quotas. How exactly have they or their families gained?
Civilisation: man's greatest, and most unappreciated, gift to women
You can thank Norway for rats.
First of all the most common type of rats in this country are Norwegian rats. I'm not kidding!
I do thank Norway for quality Heavy Metal. Especially Emperor and Immortal.
Am I missing the point of this article? Maybe, but who the hell cares?
Ashamed of My Heritage
Hearing about this, on top of the way they altered the logo for their armed forces makes me sad to be Scandinavian. I'm part Norweigian, but ironically enough I see no reason to have 40% of that part of me be female directed. One thing that the world needs to wake up and see is "if you hire someone based on their ability", that's not discrimination! No wonder feminists aren't taken seriously these days by most. If something doesn't go their way, they play the victim card, over and over and over and over again.

I wasn't trying to insult your heritage. If I did I apologize. I was just having some fun.
