Los Angeles Marathon "won" by Russian woman

Headline: "Russian woman making marathon debut wins Los Angeles Marathon"
Actually it was won by a man from Kenya. But you won't see that mentioned here. Excerpt:
'LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Russia's Tatiana Aryasova made a smashing marathon debut Sunday, taking advantage of a head start on the male runners to capture the Los Angeles Marathon.
She held off a group of Kenyan men and finished in 2 hours, 29 minutes and 9 seconds. She gave little thought to the men in pursuit.

Kenya's Laban Moiben won the men's division in 2:13:50. Aryasova and Moiben each received $20,000 and a car for winning their divisions.'
In addition to double-think and cognitive dissonance, as well as cowardice, the reporting of this story betrays an unbelievable lack of basic arithmetic skills. The female runners got a 20-minute head start. The first man to cross the line did so at 2:13:50; the first woman, at 2:29:09. So even with a 20-minute head start, she came in about 13 minutes after the first man. Add the 20 minutes to it and she came in about 33 minutes after him.
Yet the headline says she won the marathon.
I got one word for this: *BARF*

Basically they chose a head
Basically they chose a head start bases on male vs female win times to insure a women wins which is typical moving of the goal posts to give women an unfair advantage.
However having said that I'm sorry that I don't agree with the way Matt has interpreted the article.
It says she finished in 2:29:09 (in the femail division) and the man 2:13:50 (in the male division) the times are separate.
Lets (to make it easy) imagine they started at midnight
At 00:00 she sets of and it takes her 2h29 so she finishes at 2:29AM
He has to wait (to let her win) until 00:20 it takes him 2h13 mins so he finishes at 2:33AM
He finished 'behind' her by 4 mins but only because they basically cheated him out of a win.
Anyway my point was she lost by ~15 mins, (but not 33 mins). :)

She did not win. Pardon me but piss on her. I no longer listen to anyone talking about equal rights for women because it does not exist. It's all special rights for women and all about giving to them and stomping on others including children.
I no longer hold a door open for a woman or take her jacket and I was raised in a old fashioned household! I also believe that if a woman can hit a man, like a man, I would knock her out.

I totally agree. I too was raised in an old-fashioned household, but I refuse to show a woman respect just cause she's a woman. You give respect, you get respect. That's how it works for me. Of course, I give people the benefit of the doubt, but I refuse to be a doormat, and nor will I be a servant. I'm a man! If a woman viciously attacks me, she's gonna get the shit beaten out of her.
Like you and I have said, she didn't win. If she had an unfair advantage, she didn't beat anybody. Quite frankly it's sad that women are so in denial about their physical limitations that they have to cheat to win for the sake of their own self-righteousness, on top of having their own fitness clubs.

I go out of my way to demonstrate my contempt for traditional Chivalry.
I especially enjoy it when I am entering the post office or grocery store and there is a woman right behind me as I open the door ... and then walk in and let it slam shut in her face.
They always look surprised, but never say a darn thing.
Probably think it's just my bad manners.

Only One Word Desribes A Win By Handicap
That word is "pathetic". I could never consider that kind of win to be a true victory. As far as I'm concerned that's like winning in a 2 on 1 fight. Big whoop!

In college, I absolutely refused to give up my seat to a female stranger on a bus. I have even got dirty looks from either whipped-males or the self-entitled princesses themselves because I was the only guy to not jump up when a bunch of females entered the bus. Tough shit, I was here first and none of them had crutches.

I understand your point
My philosophy is a bit different. If I'm on the subway I will give my seat up if children are involved. If I see a mom or dad with two young children, I'll stand.
I'll do same with the elderly. Its difficult for me not to offer my seat to an 85 year old individual.
As for holding doors open? I feel thats common courtesy. I will hold a 7'11 door open for the INDIVIDUAL behind me. Whether its a male or female.

Two separate races
In the London marathon the men and women are running two races. A woman wins the women's race and the men the men's race. A 45-minute start for the women is chosen so that the top women can finish aapart from the top men, but no-one pretends that they've beaten the men.
Women "expect" to be treated better than men.
They seriously believe they are better than men and that as women they should receive preferential treatment. As stated before it is what many "expect" from men.
The best thing a man can do is to not live up to women's expectations.

Actually I am not so sure it is so much a demonstration of "power," rather it is more a kind of revolutionary indifference.
But then, being indifferent to what women want is maybe the very source of masculine power today.
I'm only interested in the theory.

[For you younger guys, King was a champion player (and feminist pig) in the 70's, of an ability and fame equivalent to say, Serena or Venus Williams. Where as Bobby Riggs was an old decrepit male non-entity, who showed up high on playing day, was probably too stupid to understand the rules, and didn't try all that hard to boot].
