Teen says sex abuse by female teacher scarred him; files suit against district

"An 18-year old who claims he was sexually abused by a Hilton Head Island High School teacher in 2003 filed suit Friday against the Beaufort County School District and the school board.

The suit states that the district and school board members were negligent because they did nothing to prevent the abuse from occurring and under-reacted afterward.

The teacher, Rebecca Robertson-Shaffer, now lives in San Diego, Calif., according to the attorney who filed the suit, Thomas A. Holloway of Beaufort. She resigned as a Spanish teacher in February 2004 after being charged with having sexual intercourse with the plaintiff, then 15, and contributing to the delinquency of two other students.

Robertson-Shaffer, then 25, subsequently pleaded guilty to committing a lewd act on the boy and received an 8-year suspended sentence and three years of probation. She was allowed to move out of South Carolina with her husband, who was in the military, but must register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.\"

She got an eight-year suspended sentence and three years probation. Hmmm..is there some significant difference between the two, as far as limiting her activities? [maybe so..while she's "serving" the suspended sentence, she doesn't need to check in with anyone (unlike probation)..since she's in "virtual custody"].

It's terrible.I know whats sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander and if 17yo boys are going to be jailed
for having sex with forward 15yo girls then perhaps ,according to our enlightened authorities the above should have gone to jail as well.
Perhaps I'm just too old to understand but if that had been me when I was young I would have been flattered not
humiliated,neither would I have felt"abused".
Stoking up sex wars seem to take up much of the time
of our liberal/marxist policy makers nowadays and they are making men and women hate each other.Let's hope for
their sake there is no god because if there is they will surely know which way they are headed.

Exactly, these people are stoking the fire, they want men and women to hate each other.

It's an age old tactic if divide and conquer, our one world govt is almost here, and so is our marshal law, it is comming and women will demand it.

It starts with ignorance. Ignorance leads to fear, fear to anger, and anger to discrimination. At least that's how it goes for man haters. People seem to easily be brainwashed into hating men for some reason. Ignorance plays a huge role for misandrists. Those discriminated against unjustly can't help but not like the other side. And you have a society that's at war with itself. Jesus said "a kingdom cannot stand divided against itself". This could be the tactic that the one world gov't uses to conquer the kingdom that is the world. If you can cause hatred, you have a sick power.

BTW I think that the sentence was way too light. A man would have gotten way worse a sentence. And a boy could have been traumatized from that. Not all teenage boys fantasize about getting raped by their teacher.
