'(JTA) -- A Norwegian political party said it will seek to outlaw circumcision in Norway.

“Circumcision on religious grounds should be a criminal offense,” Jenny Klinge, a spokesperson for Norway’s Centre Party, said in an interview earlier this month with the newspaper Dagbladet.

Klinge added that “Fortunately, circumcision is already illegal in females. The time has come for boys to receive the same legal protection."

The Centre Party, a member of the Norwegian coalition, occupies 11 seats out of the 169 in parliament.

Ervin Kohn, president of the Jewish Community in Oslo, told JTA that he considers the issue “an existential matter” for the community.

“Banning circumcision would send a loud message that the Jewish minority is not wanted here,” he said. Norway has a Jewish community of about 700.'

'Parents having their sons circumcised can be brought before a judge for causing bodily injury, even if they did so for religious reasons, a regional court in Germany has ruled.

'A woman who called police to report domestic violence was charged herself with felonious assault after police learned she did not disclose her HIV-positive status to her boyfriend.

Tyeashea D. Taltoan, 27, told police her boyfriend David Brooks, 50, punched her in the face Tuesday evening during an argument at the Wagon Wheel Motel on Market Street, where the couple had been staying, and that she wanted to file domestic violence charges, according to reports. Police said they interviewed Brooks, who told them they were fighting because Taltoan did not disclose that she had HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, during their seven-month relationship when they had unprotected sexual relations.

Brooks said he confronted Taltoan after finding HIV-related medicine and that he wanted to pursue charges against her, reports state.'

She isn't surprised to hear single women in their 20s are earning more than young men.

Once there, women are more likely to graduate or earn advanced degrees.
