Man of Kneel

Article here. Excerpt:

'How did society reach the point where, a lawsuit filed this week alleged, a man working at the desk of Planet Fitness on Bay Shore, Long Island was too afraid of repercussions to enter the ladies’ room to administer CPR to a dying woman? “He said he didn’t know what to do and that he wasn’t allowed to go into the ladies’ bathroom,” a witness said in an affidavit.
...

In Illinois, 28-year-old Fitzroy Barnaby was convicted of “unlawful restraint of a minor,” a sex crime, and placed on a sex-offender registry after he grabbed the arm of an 14-year-old girl to lecture her on not dashing into the street in front of a moving car, as she had just done. On a blog called Parent Dish, a reader said he stopped coaching girls soccer after an 8-year-old player told him, “I don’t have to listen to you. I can get you in trouble just by telling people you touched me.” In England, a man passing by 2-year-old Abigail Rae, who later drowned, declined to help guide her to safety because he feared being labeled a pervert.
...
... Tired of being labeled defective women, wary of the financial traps of marriage and fatherhood, hammered by the disappearance of construction and manufacturing jobs, disgusted by the presumption that their sexuality is a scary disease, men are shrugging and turning away.

The rules of the game have tilted against men in every field this side of coal mining (black lung being one of the few male privileges the ladies are happy to cede). Family courts hold men financially liable even for children conceived by women who falsely claimed to be using birth control, while at colleges the presumption of innocence has been withdrawn from men accused of sexual misbehavior.

UK: Women Must Be at the Heart of Our Efforts to Create Employment and Grow Our Economy

Article here. Excerpt:

'Last week, Francis Maude and I hosted a networking event in Whitehall to encourage more senior women to take up roles on public boards, following a report published by the Cabinet Office. The report revealed that 37% of new public appointments made by Whitehall departments in 2012 to 2013 were women. This is the first year that the government has published its own statistics on the gender diversity of public appointments, and these figures are set against an aspiration that 50% of new public appointments be female by 2015.
...
One area where I am especially keen to see progress is in the sports sector. Both Sport England and many sporting Governing Bodies will be recruiting new board members in the next 18 months and our expectation is that by 2017, at least a quarter of board members on National Governing Bodies will be female.'

UK: Harriet Harman blasts "woeful" coverage of women's sports and “ridiculous” men-only clubs

Article here. Excerpt:

'Women's sport is being held back by old-fashioned television coverage and “ridiculous” men-only sporting clubs, warned Harriet Harman.

She also slammed the inequality in funding for male and female sports and demanded equal prize money for men and women in sporting competitions.

The rallying cry from the Shadow Culture, Media and Sport Secretary came as British tennis hopeful Laura Robson tries to smash her way into the quarter-finals at Wimbledon today.

Ms Harman insisted that “woeful” broadcasting of female sports is holding back girls from doing sports at school and damaging the UK’s chances of producing the next generation of Olympic heroines, such as gold medallist Jessica Ennis.
...
Ms Harman also said it is time to end the antiquated loophole that allows men-only sports clubs, like Muirfield golf course.

She fumed: “We have clubs where women are only allowed in the company of a man. It is ridiculous and has absolutely no place in the 21st century.”'

Circumcision From the Perspective of Protecting Children

Article here. Excerpt:

'I was so amazed by this text, so I went on to read every piece of information I could find about the part that was cut off from my penis. The more I read and understood the anatomy and functions of the foreskin, the more it became impossible to escape the painful and enraging realization that my body was violated, that my penis was damaged and diminished in its capacity to sense pleasure, and that I will never be able to experience and enjoy sex as nature intended it.

The amputation of the foreskin removes a highly erogenous tissue the size of an index card on a male adult. A man who is missing that covering tissue of the penile shaft, feels less pleasure, because he does not have the thousands of nerve endings that went with the tissue that was amputated. The foreskin serves as a protective sleeve that slides up and down the penile shaft, reduces friction and stimulates the specialized nerve endings and the head of the penis and so it makes for more comfortable and pleasurable sex for both partners.

State Farm's "State of Unrest" ad appeals to cheating husband stereotype

Have to admit, this ad has comedic value. But not quite that much. And any chuckle you might get from it comes from an appeal to the skulking cheater husband stereotype. Would State Farm ever have even considered this script with the sexes reversed?

Contact form for State Farm is here. Twitter handle is @StateFarm if you prefer that or want to double-down on your complaint.

Canada: Petition to implement shared parenting

Petition here. You need not live in Canada to sign. Excerpt:

'Women regardless of evidence are still treated as better parents due to gender bias, Father's are capable, dedicated and loving parents which studies have proven. Children deserve to be part of a collaborative shared parenting arrangement, not the rope in a tug of war in a system that preaches of their interest yet pits the parents against one another rather than enhances the roles of the two most important people in their lives.'

Expelled Student Sues Vassar Claiming Another Student Made A False Rape Claim Against Him

Story here. Excerpt:

'A Vassar College student, who was allegedly expelled after a fellow member of the rowing team accused him of rape, is now suing the school and claiming the accusation was false, Erin Calabrese and Bruce Golding of the New York Post reported.

Xiaolu “Peter” Yu claims he lost his virginity engaging in “clearly consensual sexual activity” with another student, Mary Claire Walker, in 2012. A year after the one-night stand, Walker accused him of rape.
...
The claim states that Walker put a condom on Yu and they had sex until his roommate showed up. It states that after that she “began to lament about her ex-boyfriend and stated that she was not ready to jump into ‘anything new.’”
...
Yu claims all students at the once female-only college in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., are “invariably found guilty” if they are accused of rape.'

UK: There is a problem with boys and books - and all-female prize panels aren't helping

Article here. Excerpt:

'There is a problem with boys and books — they don’t seem to want to read them as much as girls do. As a result, boys’ average reading abilities are lagging behind that of girls by the equivalent of one year's schooling. I believe this difference in appeal is partly due to a bias towards female tastes in children’s literature and in picture books in particular. Last year’s All Party Parliamentary Boys Reading Commission Report notes that the gap between boys’ and girls’ reading ability is already evident at age 5, which suggests that the problem starts at picture book age.

FBI files expose M Jackson's serial boy molestation-- and general indifference to it

Article here. Basically, as in other well-known cases of boy molestation, sexual abuse, and rape, the so-called "adults" involved, along with "the authorities", knew about it and... did nothing. Of course if these had been girls, it would have been stopped immediately. It's still, it seems, open season on boys. Excerpt:

'Michael Jackson paid $35 million in hush money to at least two dozen young boys he sexually abused over 15 years, it has been alleged.

Sunday People has published explosive ‘secret FBI files’ suggesting the King of Pop groomed and molested children from at least 1989, despite his insistence he was just spending time with them.

Zimmerman jury made up entirely of women -- no one notices

Article here. Setting aside the question of the substance of the trial and indeed the article's main topic to point this out: The article doesn't even make a point of the jury composition. The jury is not only nearly all-white but entirely female. Really, would the media be silent on this kind of thing if the jury were made up of nearly all white males? No, they'd be screaming to high heaven. And as for gender, seriously-- again, let's say the deceased and the defendant were both female, too. The noise would be deafening. Instead, it's not even a whisper. Reminds me of this month: Men's Health Month. Tell me, where you work, did you even see a sign posted about it? Anyway, excerpt:

Link here. This story was originally circulated as a public sharing on CraigsList, but flagged for removal by readers. Excerpt:

'• Jayvas was born naturally on November 15th 2008, a very healthy baby boy. He was full term.

• On 11-28-2008 he was circumcised by Dr. Beth Martin of Coeur d'Alene Pediatrics. While in the office he bled excessively. It took about fifteen minutes of constant pressure to the sight to get Jayvas to stop bleeding. He was sent home from the doctor's office with instruction to have his blood checked the following week as it was a Friday. Dr. Beth Martin thought he may have a bleeding disorder because of the excessive bleeding, but did not think it needed to be checked until the following week.

• When home and beginning to change his diaper, about an hour and half after leaving doctor's office, he was again bleeding.

Women accused of drugging men, stealing their valuables

Story here. Excerpt:

'Fort Lauderdale, Florida (CNN) -- South Florida authorities are asking for the public's help to find a group of "foxy thieves" they say are drugging men they pick up at high-end bars and stealing tens of thousands of dollars in cash, jewelry, guns and other valuables.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office released photos of the four suspects, all in their 20s, and have attained arrest warrants for them.

Investigators suspect there may be more women involved in the ring.

"They're attractive women that go into a bar and they have a scam and they work it again and again," said Dani Moschella, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.'
