In the spring, an Obama administration initiative directing colleges and universities to toughen their policies on student sexual misconduct raised concerns among civil libertarians about unreasonably intrusive regulations. Now, reports from one of the nation's top universities confirm that these concerns were justified.

'Thanks to legendary grade-school teacher Mary Kay Letourneau Fualaau, Washington state will have an eternal place of prominence in the pantheon of teacher-student sex romps. However, Florida is probably ground zero for this persistent national epidemic.
The latest Floridian to get busted and convicted for molesting a student is Ethel Anderson, a former teacher at Mango Elementary school in the suburban haven of Seffner, Fla.—about 15 miles from Tampa.
On Wednesday, a jury found Anderson guilty of nine sex-crime charges for molesting a student who was 12 years old at the time.
...
“Ethel said she was planning on leaving her husband because he wasn’t a good dad and he didn’t communicate,” he explained.'

Latest Ted Turner guffaw (and a repeat!) here. He can take some comfort knowing Biden is much worse, but with a history of generating this much babbling foolishness, one must take comfort where he can find it. :) Excerpt:
'Media mogul Ted Turner reiterated an absolutely absurd idea Sunday.

Video here. No spoken words in the script; none required. The message can't be lost on anyone no matter where in the world they live-- if they know what happens here in the west in our infamous "famy court" system, that is.

'A North Carolina father gave up on life after a nasty custody battle with his son’s mother, according to friends. Derek Walker, 26, was shot and killed by police during a standoff after he lost custody of his kids.
Durham police were called to Walker’s home on Monday after reports of a distraught man brandishing a gun, according to local affiliate WNCN. Police attempted to negotiate with the man for about an hour before he turned his gun on police, causing them to fire at him.
According to police, Walker was suicidal and crying at times during his conversations with police.
...
“He was a father who had been dealing with a nasty custody battle within the court system,” friend Truitt O’Neal said. “He was extremely and emotionally drained.”'

'State police say a woman who does court-ordered counseling with central Pennsylvania domestic violence suspects falsely claimed one such client sexually assaulted her to cover up her affair with the man.
WJAC-TV says 50-year-old Cindy Brumbaugh [link added], of Howard, has been charged with filing a false police report. Troopers in Bellefonte say the woman claimed she was assaulted by a Centre County court client after her husband found out she was in a car crash with the client last month. In reality, police say the woman was covering her tracks because she had spent the night in a motel with the client.'

'(CNN) - A Florida woman whose nonstop hiccups vaulted her into the public spotlight, only to be ensnared later in a man's death, was found guilty Friday of first-degree murder.
Jennifer Mee, 22, wept after the verdict was read in a Florida court, sometimes holding her head in her hands. She sobbed some more as she was led out of the room for a jail cell.
Pinellas County Judge Nancy Moate Ley sentenced her to life in prison without parole and informed her she had 30 days to appeal.
Mee was 19 when she was arrested in October 2010. Police said she met Shannon Griffin on a social networking site, then lured him to a vacant home days later.
...
Mee led Griffin around to the back, where two men -- Laron Raiford and Lamont Newton -- were armed and waiting, authorities said. Griffin died after being shot multiple times with a .38-caliber revolver.

'Thirdly, women generally get through without any checks at all.
I fail to understand the attitude towards women in Pakistan. Either, they get acid thrown onto their faces, and their heads blown away, or they are treated as the ‘mothers and sisters of the nation’ – pushed to the front of every queue and allowed unchecked through security barriers.
Well, I have no wish to be either mother or sister to some of the characters around, and I take exception to the presumption that I, as a woman, am incapable of transporting/detonating a bomb. I am not an idiot, ET’s profile photograph not withstanding.

'It may be a vaccine patients passed up but could have gotten because it can prevent cancer. It's the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. Illinois ranks almost last in girls who are getting the vaccine and doctors said that could be a mistake because it prevents certain types of cancers in both men and women.
...
Because HPV cancers are showing up in the mouth, throat and anal areas. Cancers that are in both men and women.
"We're picking up more of those cancers unfortunately because we're seeing a lot more of oral and anal intercourse," Campbell said.
"It's all about protection," Diericx said.
And it's also about prevention, getting vaccinated before someone is sexually active.'

'In 2010, more than 38,000 people killed themselves in the United States – and over 30,000 of them were men, Helen Smith, a forensic psychologist, points out in her book Men on Strike.
“How many of these men had decided to kill themselves because they could no longer see their children, had a broken relationship, or were involved in a bitter divorce?” she asks. “Ironically, even when you look at the suicide statistics, most concern seems to be about women who kill themselves. Apparently, our society cares so little about men that those who kill themselves are hardly news.”
It’s the problem of a culture that often treats men as if there is something inherently wrong with masculinity, with what makes them different from women — and looks to feminize them. Men who are less interested in marriage and responsibility are only being rational in that context, Smith argues. In the wake of the Navy Yard shootings on Monday, Smith talks about violent video games, and men in America, with National Review Online’s Kathryn Jean Lopez.'

'Economists are calling on the government to produce a "Plan F" to tackle the disproportionate burden being placed on women by spending cuts. Female-friendly tax and welfare policies are desperately needed to redress the balance, say experts from the independent Women's Budget Group (WBG), who have produced a report looking at the impact of austerity policies on different types of family groups in England.
It finds that women, particularly single parents and single pensioners, have lost much more than men from cuts to benefits and public services imposed by the government since it came to power in May 2010.'

'You notice that the host starts off with a kind of snide condescension as well as a parroting of Feminist ideology. They point of course to the wage gap, that men make up most of the CEOs, and so forth. That is code for the true believers among them for “let’s join in and laugh.” Now of course, men are the majority sex at the top of society – i.e., they have the best jobs, they are most of those in congress, the judiciary, and so forth – but that is not the whole picture.'

'If you're a convicted criminal, the best thing you can have going for you might be your gender.
A new study by Sonja Starr, an assistant law professor at the University of Michigan, found that men are given much higher sentences than women convicted of the same crimes in federal court.
The study found that men receive sentences that are 63 percent higher, on average, than their female counterparts.
Starr also found that females arrested for a crime are also significantly more likely to avoid charges and convictions entirely, and twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted.'
