‘Jackie’ must turn over communications with ‘Rolling Stone’ in suit over discredited rape story

Article here. Excerpt:

'The source of Rolling Stone’s retracted story on gang rape at the University of Virginia, “Jackie,” will be forced to turn over some of her communications as part of a defamation lawsuit against the magazine.

Considering motions by Associate Dean of Students Nicole Eramo, a federal judge in Virginia said in court Tuesday that Jackie’s communications with Rolling Stone and “A Rape on Campus” author Sabrina Rubin Erdely “likely would be integral” to Eramo’s case, The Washington Post reported.

Judge Glen Conrad said he’s still mulling whether to require Jackie to turn over communications with her friends and family “related to the article,” the Post said.

Feminist organizations had earlier accused Eramo – and the university itself – of “victim blaming” for trying to force Jackie to turn over documents deemed by Eramo’s counsel to be “highly relevant” to her $7.5 million lawsuit.'

Title IX

As many know, OCR is investigating 50, 100, 1000, 10,000, no ONE BILLION sexual assault cases...

I have always wondered what are the results.

Well, The Chronicle of Higher Education is gathering them up, and you can find the cases here:

http://projects.chronicle.com/titleix/

In many of them, there was no guilt.

In almost all, there were 20 page letters sent in which the school was just told to speed things up.

In some, the schools were told to give the "alleged victim" money. Yes!

I think this should be spread far and wide and maybe someone can do an analysis of this colossal waste of time!

Letter: Better a false accusal than a rape

Letter here. Excerpt:

'As many of this states' students return to their college campuses this week, many men leave the safety of their homes to enter into a world where they could be falsely accused of rape.

As I return to my college campus, I envy the luxury of these men. If the gravest danger I faced in this world was being falsely accused of rape, I would consider myself lucky. I would be much more fortunate than the countless women who have "walk me home apps" downloaded on their phones as a security blanket for any time they go out after dark. I downloaded one after a stranger attacked a classmate right outside my dorm last September.

I would consider myself luckier than the one in five college freshmen who will be sexually assaulted before they graduate. And if the greatest danger I faced in this world was someone falsely accusing me of rape for attention or one of the countless other denunciations I've heard, I would still never blame the victim.'

Jackie’s rape story was false so why hasn’t the media named her by now?

Article here. Excerpt:

'In the 14 months since her story shocked the world, Jackie has been at the heart of a national debate about sexual assaults on college campuses, has become embroiled in a media scandal, and is the central figure in a series of defamation lawsuits.

Yet there’s one important fact missing about Jackie, the young woman who concocted a harrowing story about a gang rape at a University of Virginia fraternity: her full name.

News organizations have declined to reveal Jackie’s full identity since her now-discredited story appeared in Rolling Stone magazine in November 2014. Her single-name identity — just Jackie — is in keeping with a long-standing journalistic convention against identifying alleged victims of sexual crimes to protect the accuser’s privacy.'

Say ‘NO’ to misandry

Article here. Excerpt:

'In an article she herself said would “make so many men so very angry,” Chelsea G. Summers described how misandry had, in 2015, become the new tool to further the feministic movement.

Summers stated that a woman now “looks around, and she fears every man, for every man feels implicated in the blank-faced denials of these famous men.” This fear then leads to the anger behind misandry.

The article has been getting mixed reviews since no one can tell if she is actually being serious. As I read through the article, I was waiting for the moment when she would turn it around, say she was joking, or something of the like. I was waiting for the point where I could tell that she is an extremely sarcastic person. That moment never happened.

Advocacy for Men & Boys club criticised as “anti-feminist” in open letter

Article here. Excerpt:

'The SFU Advocacy for Men & Boys (SFUAMB) club have become the centre of an ongoing controversy following an open letter penned by the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies student union (GSWSSU) claiming the club is “using men’s issues as a way to attack feminism.”

The letter was published on the union’s WordPress page on December 7, and was addressed primarily in response to SFU AMB’s November 8 event, “Toxic Masculinity & TOXIC FEMININITY.” The event was promoted with posters showing a biohazard sign over a venus symbol, a gesture the open letter alleges is “offensive, hostile, and aggressive.”

The main speaker for the event was Karen Straughan, a self-proclaimed “anti-feminist” and men’s rights advocate. Straughan is a prominent figure in the men’s rights activist community, as well as a well-known YouTube personality — her most popular video, “Feminism and the Disposable Male,” boasts over 1 million views.'

UK: Feminism has gone too far and we now need to help boys more, says uni admission boss

Article here. Excerpt:

'The head of UCAS, Mary Curnock Cook, has suggested that male students are having their progress impeded due to a lack of male teachers.

Her comments have been made on the same day as UCAS releasing data showing the widening gap between the sexes in higher education.

One of her suggestions to rectify the situation is to promote teaching to men, perhaps by advertising the profession more to male students.

She also would like to see more studies on how both male and female students learn following primary school, so the results may be used in the Government’s education policy.'

UK: The trouble with boys

Article here. Excerpt:

'As the mother of a boy and a girl, Helen Trussler has seen a stark contrast in their fortunes at school. While her 18-year-old daughter Beth has thrived, she feels that her once-confident son Harry, 12, has been crushed by a system that is biased against boys.

“He comes home from school in tears, tells me he’s stupid, dumb and should be in special needs,” said Trussler, 44, a home help from Guildford, Surrey.

Harry attends the same state school as Beth, who has similar intelligence — and a serious lung condition. Yet she achieved five Bs and three Cs at GCSE, while his academic prospects appear bleak.'

Celebrating Brit Shalom at Reform Judaism Conference

Article here. Excerpt:

'Reform Judaism, the branch of Judaism with which the most American Jews identify, is a progressive movement making tremendous efforts to be welcoming and inclusive. These efforts, which are widely perceived as strengthening the community, were to be the focus of the conference. So Rebecca and I created our display materials to tap into the theme of inclusion, with our own twist, of course: a call for open welcome of non-circumcising families in Jewish life.

Prominent feminist condemns circumcision, claims it's worse than clitoral piercing

Article here. Excerpt:

'The main reason for cutting little boy’s penises given is that it reduces the instance of the transmission of STDs such as HIV. That may be true, and certainly the CDC and other secular medical institutions have made similar claims. However, the problem with this reasoning is that a more effective way of preventing the transmission of disease is the use of condoms, and condoms don’t require you to be circumcised. In fact, even if you are circumcised, you STILL must use protection to avoid the spread of disease.

General's 'greatest fear' that military might lower standards for women

Article here. Excerpt:

'The military will face pressure to lower standards in the future, if women are unable to meet the physical requirements to join front-line combat units or elite fighting forces, a ranking Marine Corps general said Friday.

Calling it his “greatest fear,” Gen. John F. Kelly, the commander of U.S. Southern Command who is slated to retire at the end of the month, predicted few female troops would be able to meet the physical demands in the traditionally all-male military occupations – primarily in the infantry, armor and special operations fields.

“There will be great pressure, whether it’s 12 months from now, four years from now, because the question will be asked whether we’ve let women into these other roles, why aren’t they staying in those other roles?” Kelly told reporters Friday at the Pentagon. “And the answer is … if we don’t change standards it will be very, very difficult to have any numbers – any real numbers – come into the infantry, or the Rangers or the SEALs.”'

Lawsuit: UVA Student’s Crush On A Friend Was Root Of Fake Rolling Stone Gang Rape Story

Article here. Excerpt:

'The former University of Virginia student whose false claim about being gang-raped was published by Rolling Stone is a “serial liar” who– in addition to fabricating the rape story — made up a second identity and lied about having a terminal illness, all so that she could win the affections of a student she had a crush on, attorneys representing a dean at the school claimed in a recent lawsuit filing.

Jackie Coakley posed as her own suitor, a UVA student she called “Haven Monahan,” in an elaborate catfishing scheme aimed at getting her friend and classmate, Ryan Duffin, to like her, attorneys for UVA dean Nicole Eramo asserted in court papers filed this week, according to The Washington Post.

She also told Duffin that she had a terminal illness and was “dying.” But her biggest lies graced the pages of Rolling Stone in a Nov. 2014 article entitled “A Rape on Campus,” which was written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely.'

My life was wrecked by a false rape allegation

Article here. Excerpt:

'Steve Proctor — who was cleared by a jury’s unanimous verdict — called for anonymity of sex crime suspects until proved guilty, saying the unfounded claims cost him his job and the trust of friends and colleagues.
...
He said that the damage caused by wrongful accusations fanned by “no smoke without fire” rumours affects ordinary people as well as celebrities.

In the Eighties and Nineties Mr Proctor started the Balearic/acid house scene and as a DJ played Ibiza, the Shoom, the Hacienda and the Wag as well as the O2 and the Royal Albert Hall. But in May 2010 he was accused of raping a woman he knew. After being on bail for 13 months he was cleared by the jury’s verdict.

However, he remains unemployed and suffers from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.  Now 56 and living on benefits in Crouch End, he said: “I was close to killing myself, this has destroyed my life. I felt the police’s attitude was that I was guilty until proven innocent.'

Senator takes on federal education officials for 'threatening' letters to colleges, universities

Article here. Excerpt:

'U.S. Sen. James Lankford is accusing the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights of overstepping its authority in confronting the issues of bullying, harassment and sexual violence on college campuses and becoming the bully itself.

Lankford, R-Oklahoma, is chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management, which since September has been examining whether the Education Department and other federal agencies have been sidestepping the required regulatory process through the improper use of guidance letters.

In a letter being sent Thursday, Lankford said he wants the Education Department to prove its new mandates for “sweeping policy changes” on bullying, harassment and sexual violence at the nation’s colleges and universities are actually rooted in federal statutes and regulation.'

Feminists And Progressives Attack College Football With More Dodgy Rape Statistics

Article here. Excerpt:

'Liberal, mainstream journalists are currently wetting themselves over a new paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research, which purports to show that sexual assaults rise on college football game days. The article, entitled “College Party Culture And Sexual Assault,” cross-references big game days with reports of sexual assault in college towns, showing spikes in reports.

The media is lapping it up. “Reported Rapes Go Through The Roof On Game Day At Big Football Schools” screams the Huffington Post. “Report: Rape Rates At Big Football Colleges Spike On Game Day” warns CBS. “Rape Rates Spike On Game Day At Big Football Schools” agrees New York Magazine.
