More details on the wage gap fiction

Article here. Excerpt:

'The recruitment consultancy Robert Half decided to get some early PR out of International Women's Day this Tuesday. It published an analysis of salary rates in the UK for men and women concluding that women will earn £298,064 ($422,267) less than men over their lifetimes, a gender pay gap of 24%.

The press release has already been written up by the Evening Standard, The Guardian, and here at Business Insider.

The problem with this statistic is that ... it's rubbish.

The gender pay gap in the UK is just 9.4% and getting smaller every year, according to the Office for National Statistics, which does an annual survey of men's and women's wage rates specifically to monitor discriminatory pay.

And yet, the media persistently reports that women earn 20% or 30% less than men. The BBC made this exact claim as recently as February.

How feminism attacks masculinity

Article here. Excerpt:

'Feminism today seeks to promote gender equality by eradicating these practices and doing away with traditional gender. In reality, there is little work to be done in terms of gender equality. However, with the angst of feminism still pulsing through society’s bloodstream, and no further work to be done, feminism has set its sights on masculinity — a reminder of the past oppression of women in America. When feminists talk about eliminating societal gender roles, what they’re really talking about is eliminating the presence of masculinity.

This sentiment is clear when participating in a conversation about gender and consequently feminism. I, as a woman, can engage in these conversations freely. On the other hand, I’ve witnessed my male counterparts attempting to participate in these conversations countless times, only to have their point completely invalidated with the slick, P.C. phrase, “Says the straight male.” Notice how someone with an alternate sexuality would not face the same criticism. That’s because it’s not men that new age feminists oppose, it’s the masculinity.

It’s the very existence of masculinity that is perceived as a threat to gender equality. By keeping the masculine voice boxed out of the conversation surrounding gender, women control the gender narrative and maintain their place in society. The consequence of this is that there is really no other group that is marginalized and invalidated more acceptably than the straight (often white) male.

Men accused of sex crimes striking back at colleges

Article here. Excerpt:

'After years of complaints that they weren’t taking sexual assault reports seriously, colleges are finally doing so, and finding themselves slammed with lawsuits from men who say they were unfairly suspended or otherwise punished.

The schools are feeling caught in the middle.

“We’re trying to walk the razor’s edge between being more attentive to the issue but still being fair to all our students,” said Dana Scaduto, general counsel at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, who has testified before Congress on the issue.

At least 75 men have sued their schools since 2013, complaining largely of reverse discrimination and unfair disciplinary proceedings. Most were never charged with a crime because the accuser didn’t go to police, or authorities decided there wasn’t enough evidence.'

Australia: Teacher warns men not to join the profession after two-year investigation

Article here. Jump the paywall by Googling the first paragraph text. Excerpt:

'A TEACHER of 35 years experience has warned young men against joining the profession after enduring an investigation into an alleged incident with a student that lasted close to two years and left him mentally scarred.

The southern suburbs man has detailed the isolating and humiliating “farce” he was put through when investigated by the Education Department, which has revealed it finalised 80 disciplinary matters involving teachers and other staff last year.

“It goes from zero to psycho in an instant,” the teacher said of the investigation into whether he inappropriately touched a student, which he estimated would have cost taxpayers $250,000.

“I am so pissed off because of the indignity of what I had to go through.

A Confession of Liberal Intolerance

Article here. Excerpt:

'WE progressives believe in diversity, and we want women, blacks, Latinos, gays and Muslims at the table — er, so long as they aren’t conservatives.

Universities are the bedrock of progressive values, but the one kind of diversity that universities disregard is ideological and religious. We’re fine with people who don’t look like us, as long as they think like us.
...
“Outside of academia I faced more problems as a black,” he told me. “But inside academia I face more problems as a Christian, and it is not even close.”

I’ve been thinking about this because on Facebook recently I wondered aloud whether universities stigmatize conservatives and undermine intellectual diversity. The scornful reaction from my fellow liberals proved the point.
...
Jonathan Haidt, a centrist social psychologist at New York University, cites data suggesting that the share of conservatives in academia has plunged, and he has started a website, Heterodox Academy, to champion ideological diversity on campuses.

State imposes misleading ‘affirmative consent’ requirement on campus sex, equating consensual sex with rape

Article here. Excerpt:

'“If you’re a college student in Connecticut and want to have consensual sex, you might want to leave the state to do it,” reports The College Fix. The state’s left-leaning “legislature approved an ‘affirmative consent’ bill Wednesday night that now goes to Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy, a proponent of the idea that sex is rape if one partner does not get the other partner’s repeated and mutually-agreed upon consent throughout the act.” All Democrats voted in favor of the bill; only a handful of Republicans like Senator Joe Markley voted against it, citing its meddling in college students’ consensual sex lives. As we’ve previously explained, “affirmative consent” bills misleadingly define consent so narrowly as to brand many welcome, mutually enjoyed consensual encounters as “sexual assault.”'

Harvard president to ban members of single-sex groups from campus leadership in 2017

Story here. So, the groups in question aren't barred from existing at Harvard. And yet, members thereof are to be institutionally discriminated against because they are merely members of them? This is what happens when you let SJWs and feminists push you around. Excerpt:

'Students who join Harvard's male-only social clubs won't be able to serve as sports captains or leaders of other campus groups starting in fall 2017.

The new policy, announced Friday by Harvard's first female president, also applies to other unofficial single-gender groups on campus, including fraternities and sororities. Top officials at the university have been pushing those groups to stop excluding students based on gender even though they aren't officially recognized by the school.

Harvard President Drew Faust said in a statement that while the school has opened its doors to women and minorities, the campus culture has lagged behind.

False rape charge: Court orders woman’s prosecution

Article here. Excerpt:

'Accused of rape, 26-year-old Ravi found himself among the category of accused held guilty by society till proven innocent. To make the matters worse for him, the Rewari district resident had to remain in the custody during the period of trial.

Coming to his rescue, a Rewari court has not only acquitted him of the charges but also ordered prosecution of the woman complainant. The judgment, expected to act as a deterrent against false rape cases, was pronounced by Rewari Additional Sessions Judge Phalit Sharma.

Taking up the matter, the Judge asserted the court was convinced that the prosecution had told a bundle of lies to the police and the court. It warranted her prosecution in accordance with law for letting the police to prosecute accused Ravi on wrong facts and false deposition before the court.

Ravi was booked for rape, criminal intimidation and other offences after an FIR was registered in February last year at Rampura police station in Rewari.'

War on College Men: Fraternity Supports Women – Feminists Freak Out

Article here. Excerpt:

'Northwestern University fraternities thought they were doing the right and noble thing, hanging banners off the sides of their houses reminding students that it was Sex Assault Awareness Month.

But not only was the move not enough to satisfy campus social justice warriors, some SJWs forced the fraternities to issue a blanket apology for their effort, because their signs might have “triggered” some students.
...
But apparently, simply recognizing sexual violence as a problem and informing your fellow students about the dangers of campus sexual assault—something campus feminists have been exhorting (and, in some ways, extorting) their fellow college students to do ad nauseum —is not enough to silence the clamoring harpy hordes.

The basics: Bill shifting consent standard in campus sex assaults wins final passage

Article here. Excerpt:

'The state Senate gave final passage Monday to a bill that establishes an affirmative-consent threshold in cases of sexual assault on all college and university campuses in Connecticut. The bill now heads to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's desk. If he signs it, Connecticut would be the fourth state to adopt such a standard.
...
When adjudicating complaints of sexual assault among college students, determining whether there was consent is crucial.

Too often, proponents of the legislation say, victims are asked, "What did you do to say 'no'?" instead of asking the accused perpetrator, "How do you know the act was consensual?"

Due Process 101 As Taught by Uncle Sam

Article here. Excerpt:

'The principle that every person in the United States is entitled by right to “due process of law,” is so firmly embedded in the legal and cultural fabric of our society, that it hardly bears reminding. Yet, if you happen to be a male student at any college or university that receives federal funds, and an allegation of sexual misconduct has been levelled against you, you quickly realize that “due process” is a luxury you no longer enjoy.

Thanks to the Obama Administration’s effort to institutionalize political correctness throughout our nation’s education system, “due process” for male college students has been redefined out of the college curriculum. Now, according to Due Process 101 as taught by the United States Department of Education, male college students are no longer “innocent until proven guilty”; they are simply “guilty if accused,” and “due process” is a one-way street favoring the accuser not the accused.'

White Men Should Stop Running For Office, Colorado Group Says

Article here. Excerpt:

'A new political action committee has one question for straight white men with political aspirations.

"Dude, can you not?"

It's a question embedded in the name of the organization. The Can You Not PAC plans to discourage straight white men from running for office in Colorado's diverse districts. The hope is that will clear the lane from female, minority and LGBTQ candidates.

Democratic activists Jack Teter and Kyle Huelsman registered the organization last month. So far they've raised $120 from six donations.
...
But some progressive activists aren't laughing.

"I always take the approach that it would be better to be pro- something rather than anti-something," says Halisi Vinson, president of Colorado Black Women For Political Action. "It appears they are taking a negative approach and that's never the way to create a movement."

The men America has left behind

Article here. Excerpt:

'Nearly one-quarter of white men with only a high school diploma aren't working. Many of these men, age 25 to 64, aren't just unemployed ... they aren't even looking for a job, according to federal data.

Their college-educated peers, however, have fared much better. Only about one in 10 isn't working.

The plight of these blue collar workers is now in the national spotlight. The 2016 presidential election has awakened their political power and reshaped the course of the campaign.'

Hurricane Mizzou – Enrollment Plummets, Jobs Cut, Buildings Shutter

Article here. It all started when a feminist prof (who was eventually fired for it) decided that a man didn't have the right to report on a protest. She sought to have him forcibly removed from the protest because he was taking pictures. One thing led to another. Such are the wages of sin, as it were. Excerpt:

'After raucous protests last fall, the University of Missouri has “a dark cloud hanging over the institution—we can’t sugarcoat that,” vice chancellor of operations Gary Ward told faculty this week.

The university’s grave outlook became clearer Monday, as the data rolled in on freshman enrollment for the Fall 2016 semester, showing steep declines.

Compared to last year, 1,470 fewer students had paid their $300 enrollment fees by the May 1 deadline—and with cancellations rolling in over the weekend, the numbers may be even more grim, the local TV station KMIZ reports. That’s a drop of about 25% from last year’s freshman class of about 6,200.

Mizzou also reported a three-year low in grad-school applications, down 1,140 from two years ago. The number of new students shrunk even as the university has embarked on an aggressive effort to drum up interest in the school, using text messages and Skype and deploying more out-of-state recruiters.

Fifty Shades of Red Tape: When Bureaucrats Regulate Your Sex Life

Article here. Excerpt:

'Remember when liberals used to say, “Just keep the government out of the bedroom?” Who would’ve thought those were the good ol’ days? Out-of-control government bureaucrats are regulating more and more as they strangle the freedom out of every aspect of life.

Now, liberals are teaming up with two of their favorite groups – bureaucrats and trial lawyers – to try to pass regulations that could make every single one of us a rapist in the eyes of the law.

That’s right – the regulations are now coming to bedrooms across America. In just a few weeks, the American Law Institute – an organization of lawyers who lobby federal, state, and local governments to pass their model laws – will vote on whether to make “affirmative consent” laws a part of the model penal code.
