'The term toxic masculinity, which describes the harmful behavior associated with traditional masculinity, may be taking a toll on men and their mental health. NBC's Maria Shriver sits down with three men who open up about the societal pressure and confusion men feel that can lead to isolation.'

'Says she wanted ‘to bring rape culture and the pervasiveness of victim blaming and shaming to the class so we could have a constructive dialogue’
A University of Pittsburgh criminal justice professor has apologized for an assignment that asked students to create a “fact scenario” for an “encounter” that ends up with a man raping a woman.
“I wanted to sincerely apologize that this assignment was unsettling to some students in our class; I have used this assignment previously and it led to engaged, interactive discussion and learnings by previous students,” Professor Denise Turner wrote in an email obtained by The College Fix.
...
Peyton Gualtieri was the first student to expose the assignment on social media. Her video, as of Oct. 10, has 1.2 million views on TikTok.
Gualtieri told The Fix via email why she believes the assignment is morally wrong.
She said her professor “specifically assumes females are the only victims of sexual assault.”

'What has feminism ever done for the emotional lives of men? There is a story that says thus far, very little indeed. Its main character is a generation of so-called Lost Boys. Betrayed by a feminism which overstated their privilege and mocked their vulnerability, these boys now turn to online pornography and Andrew Tate. Feminists might complain, but isn’t it sort of our fault? Certainly, there are some who feel that corrective action is needed.
A lot of the most vocal feminists of recent years are obsessed with helping men. In her 2018 book, self-styled Guilty Feminist Deborah Frances-White declares that feminism “must fight for men who are being pushed into lonely desolation by the patriarchal pressures”. And in her recently published On Our Best Behaviour, Elise Loehnen tells women to spare a thought for the boys: girls might have to suppress our feelings “to function in what otherwise might be dysfunctional relationships or a dysfunctional society”, but “at least we’re allowed to cry”.'

'A male teacher at an all-girls grammar school has won almost £45,000 after he was sacked over sex assault claims which pupils allegedly later said they made up 'for fun'.
Jonathan Hawker, the former maths and computing teacher, was said to be targeted by pupils who wanted to end his career by alleging he had assaulted them by touching their thighs and massaging their shoulders.
Mr Hawker, who had been at Devonport High School for Girls in Plymouth for five years, was suspended, arrested and then fired for 'gross misconduct' – despite reports that the girls had admitted they lied about everything 'because it was fun'.
The teacher has now been awarded £44,868 after a tribunal in Bristol decided that the school had carried out a 'wholly inadequate' investigation and failed to 'provide a safe working environment for its staff, in particular the men.''

'The act of stealthing — described as the non-consensual removal of a condom during sex – will be considered rape and attract a maximum penalty of life in prison under a suite of new laws introduced to Queensland parliament today.
One-in-three Australian women and one-in-five Australian men have been victims of the “insidious” act, according to a 2018 study by Monash University.
First reported by The Guardian, the proposed legislation will also seek to criminalise coercive control, and allow judges to inform juries of common misconceptions about sexual assault.
The Sunshine State joins Tasmania, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT in making stealthing illegal – a move that was one of 188 recommendations last year by Queensland’s Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce.'

'Gone was the good woman and her hallmark virtues, such as patience, loyalty, and compassion. These ideas were redefined as codependency, a kind of slavery, or only for women who were doormats. The virtues of the working woman ascended, taking center stage: self-reliance, ambition, focus, and strength. No family — no man, no child — would get in her way. Every few months, especially during award season, a new starlet comes out and thanks the universe for allowing her to get an abortion, lest her career would have been ruined by the demands of caring for a wriggling, wailing, dream crusher.'

'For years, I split the bill on dates. As a Latina from a lineage of women whose lives had been micro-managed by family patriarchs, I thought I was breaking bad generational patterns by interacting with men as equals rather than as providers.
But recently, I started getting pushback from some of my friends. They argued that because of the persisting gender pay gap, it’s actually now properly feminist to expect men to pay on first dates and contribute more financially in relationships.
One friend instructed me: “Don’t even think about reaching for your purse.” The thought of possibly coercing a man into paying for my dinner, however, just seemed wrong.

'Some of the ways colleges are trying to attract male applicants are rather pathetic. Consider New College, the small liberal arts public college in Florida that in recent years has been about 66 percent female, with gender studies majors galore. Now it’s ground zero in Ron DeSantis’s “war on woke.” Courses on sex and gender are out, and to attract more men, the school is beefing up not male friendly majors like political science or philosophy or physics, but sports. Grades, as well as SAT and ACT scores, are lower for the new freshman class, reports the Sarasota Herald-Tribune: “Much of the drop in average scores can be attributed to incoming student-athletes who, despite scoring worse on average, have earned a disproportionate number of the school’s $10,000-per-year merit-based scholarships.” Merit-based scholarships for jocks! Conservatives are fine with affirmative action, as long as the beneficiaries are (white) men.'

'The Rochester Institute of Technology has a persistent and yawning gender gap—what some have called its “infamous gender ratio.” It is nearly two-thirds male, a number that has remained relatively stable for years, sometimes raising eyebrows among prospective female applicants.
That’s why RIT introduced a slate of programs and scholarships aimed particularly—and in many cases, exclusively—at women. They include a Women in Engineering at RIT (WE@RIT) group, as well as a series of summer and after-school programs designed to encourage high school girls to apply to RIT and enter STEM fields.

'The heartbroken dad started to put the pieces together, realizing there were a few red flags at the beginning of the couple’s three-year relationship.
“She told me that she was pregnant very early on in our relationship which I thought was odd,” he explained. “But she insisted that it was mine.”
His girlfriend, 27, reportedly acknowledged that she was “casually seeing people” before things got serious with the Redditor.
“She may not even know who the biological father is, so I feel like bringing it up would just cause problems,” he shrugged.'

If there is anything to be learned from the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial, it is that it is too simplistic to assume that only men are offenders and only women are victims.
Most essays about domestic violence center around the “Man Bad, Woman Good” mindset. Rather than taking another spin on the faulty and outdated Duluth Domestic Violence Power & Control Wheel (which assumes that all victims must be female and all perpetrators must be male), it is time to examine other considerations.
There are many more issues in intimate partner violence (IPV) than power and control. Domestic violence often occurs among couples who are poor and those with less education. Some couples simply lack an ability to resolve a conflict or to avoid escalation. One or both partners may suffer from depression, anxiety, or immaturity. There are other factors.

'"FOX & Friends" co-host Lawrence Jones’ new book, "American Man: Speaking The Truth About The War On Masculinity," aims to combat the liberal notion that masculinity is toxic, and puts a spotlight on the importance of crucial role traditional men play in a thriving society.
"When I wrote ‘American Man,’ the purpose was to defend manhood," Jones told Fox News Digital as he headed to the airport for an exclusive interview with Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson.
Jones, who joined "FOX & Friends" on a permanent basis last month after previously serving as the hit morning show’s enterprise reporter, has spent years traveling across America for Fox News Channel, and he’s noticed an alarming trend.
"Manhood is under attack right now from society," he said, adding that "American Man: Speaking The Truth About The War On Masculinity" is not an attack on women.'

'There seem to be as many interpretations of what “toxic masculinity” means as there are uses of the term.
Some believe it’s a way to criticise what they see as specific negative behaviour and attitudes often associated with men. Others, such as broadcaster Piers Morgan, claim that media interest in toxic masculinity is part of a “woke culture” that aims to emasculate men. Others believe toxic masculinity is a fundamental part of manhood.
My research into working-class young men in south Wales shows how masculinity is changing. Some men remain hostile to the notion of toxic masculinity and see the term as a vehicle for shaming men. And some are caught in a conflict between changing ideas of masculinity and traditional, unhealthy expressions of manhood. This is further complicated by the term itself.'

'Feathers were ruffled after a popular conference for professionals and students in the tech industry was reportedly overrun by male attendees claiming to be “non-binary” and accessing the event’s exclusive networking opportunities and career fair.
”To honor Grace Hopper’s legacy and inspire future generations of women in tech, Dr. Anita Borg and Dr. Telle Whitney founded Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) in 1994,” according to the organization’s website.
But in the current age, the event advertises itself as “the world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists.” Tickets cost $1,300, but the organization provides scholarships to “women and non-binary” students, faculty, and professionals to attend virtually.'

'Northwood University, which has run a female-only award program since 1970, appears to be ignoring a legal agreement it signed in January to open the program to all eligible individuals regardless of sex.
Civil rights watchdog Mark J. Perry told The College Fix via email that Northwood openly defied the legal agreement with its Sept. 13 announcement of the five latest female recipients of the Distinguished Women Awards.
He added the university, a private Michigan-based institution, even expanded the awards by introducing the new Distinguished Young Women category.
