'At the start of July, the second International Conference on Men’s Issues was held at the ExCel centre in London, two years after the inaugural conference in Detroit. Jointly hosted by A Voice for Men and the British political party Justice for Men and Boys, men from all around the world flocked to the centre to hear people discuss real issues that affected them.
The ICMI is one of the only places where issues that affect men and boys are even recognised as being legitimate – it is safe to say that the wider society has no real grasp of the seriousness of such pressing issues as male suicide, domestic violence against men, false rape accusations and many others.
Men’s Rights Activists (more commonly known as MRAs) have an undeserved reputation in mainstream society; they are commonly portrayed as misogynists, bigots, and generally strange individuals, who sit at home in their mothers’ basements fawning over anime characters in their fedoras and trenchcoats.
'President Barack Obama penned a column for Glamour magazine declaring that he is a feminist, and urging all men to join him.
Citing his own two daughters, Obama explained that it was important for them to see their dad as someone who supports them in the face of challenges that they face as women.
"Yes, it’s important that their dad is a feminist, because now that’s what they expect of all men,” he wrote in an essay running more than 1,500 words.
Obama complained that there were still so many “gender stereotypes” in today’s culture, an issue that he grew more sensitive about as a father.
“[Y]ou become even more aware of how gender stereotypes pervade our society,” he said. “You see the subtle and not-so-subtle social cues transmitted through culture.”'
'Oh, clearly you didn't think the little snowflake justice warriors everywhere, from the LAist to Flavorwire to Jezebel to Teen Vogue to Vulture, were going to let this innocuous piece go unnoticed without having a hissy fit? Oh yes, most deliciously, the little snowflakes got so pissed off and were just sooo unbelievably offended by this piece, that they had to denounce it. Oh, little snowflakes, when did you all become grandmothers and society matrons, clutching your pearls in horror at someone who has an opinion about something, a way of expressing themselves that's not the mirror image of yours, you snivelling little weak-ass narcissists? The high moral tone from social justice warriors is always out of scale with what they are indignant about. When did this hideous and probably nerve-wracking way of living begin transforming you into the authoritarian language police, with your strict set of little rules and manufactured outrage, demanding apologies from every sandwich or salad you didn't like?
'A judge has rejected the claim of a lawyer defending a woman who was convicted of a string of sexual offences against a nine-year-old girl that she should not face jail time because the “shame” brought on herself and her family is punishment enough.
Raheelah Dar, 43, from Middlesborough, was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and two of indecency with a child, which she denied. She was jailed for seven years at a sentencing hearing on Tuesday.
She was accused of isolating, manipulating and molesting the girl, who is now an adult and cannot be named for legal reasons, in a case of abuse that spanned four years, Gazette Live reported.'

'If you ask San Francisco DJ Ms. Jackson, electronic music has been traditionally dominated by men for too long.
Fed up with the glaring lack of inclusion, Jackson opted to make a change. She teamed up with her friend Audrey Joseph, the San Francisco Armory’s director of events, to launch Together Fest, an all-women electronic music festival to debut Oct. 8.
“We asked, ‘How do we highlight some of these artists that should be getting headlining spots at festivals but aren’t because of their gender?’” Jackson says. “We know that there is an incredible amount of female talent in electronic music, in hip-hop, in house music. There should be a mainstream music festival that has an all-female lineup.”
'Can a male student held responsible by a university for an alleged sexual assault successfully make the case that his fate was the result of sex discrimination against him?
Many have tried and many have failed. Indeed, some have been all but laughed out of court.
But now the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has opened the door to just such a scenario. Reversing a U.S. District Court decision, the panel ruled Friday that a former athlete’s suit against Columbia University, which suspended him for a year for “sexual assault: nonconsensual sexual intercourse,” may go forward based on his claim that university officials acted with anti-male bias, in violation of Title IX, the federal education law that bars discrimination by schools receiving federal funds.'
'California Polytechnic State University is looking for a new “Men and Masculinity Coordinator” whose primary responsibility will be to address issues of sexual assault on campus.
The job will consist of, among other things, “increasing education and awareness and lowering incidents of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking,” and the preferred applicant for the job will have a “65 hour California State Certification as a Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Crisis Counselor.”
Additionally, all eligible candidates for the job must have a “working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of gender-based violence prevention education and outreach efforts.”'
Sleep is an under researched quality of life issue for men diagnosed with prostate cancer. Help us find ways to help all of us around sleep and prostate cancer. The survey is anonymous and takes less than 7 minutes to complete.
The data gathered will be used to create a peer reviewed journal article and, possibly, a presentation to the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The study is entirely financed by individual donations to Malecare Cancer Support.
'For men hoping to hail a female driver, See Jane Go redirects them automatically to Uber or Lyft through its app, which avoids any discrimination claims. The company will not allow male passengers unless accompanied by a female.
“We didn’t want to completely cut men out because we want our women to have maximum flexibility using the app,” said Toonen. “As long as the woman is the account holder and is the one who hailed the ride, he can come along. She’s informally saying, ‘He’s OK, he’s with me.’”
She added, “There will never be a situation with a female Jane driver alone with a man in the car.”'
'Liberals are unhappy at this point that Hillary Clinton isn’t trouncing Donald Trump, so there must be an obvious culprit: Sexism. Especially among white males, the most likely Republican voters. On Thursday night’s PBS NewsHour, they interviewed their own correspondent Daniel Bush on their question “Does gender bias explain why Hillary Clinton has fared so poorly with white male voters?”
'Feminists have spent years campaigning against “sexist” children’s toys which allegedly promote gender stereotypes.
Now researchers have shown that baby boys and girls naturally choose to play with the sort of gender-specific toys which many campaigners find offensive.
A team from City University, London, found that baby girls tended to enjoy interacting with faces and practising “fine motor skills”, whilst boys used their increased “interest and ability in spatial processing” whist playing.
...
The research flies in the face of feminists who believe kids’ playthings promote “harmful and limiting stereotypes”, because it suggests kids have a natural tendency to play in different ways.
'Radical feminism shouldn’t be allowed to hijack our fight against domestic violence.
I recently asserted DV isn’t a male problem, it’s society’s problem; I was called a “misogynist”, “traitor” and “disgrace”.
Believing in equality doesn’t make anyone a misogynist. Contrary to a harmful, brainwashing feminist TV advertising campaign, men aren’t born evil perpetrators.
Bullying is never excusable, despite your cause. Clearly, feminism only cares about women who agree with their agenda.
Both men and women are capable of domestic violence.
The Queensland Government Department of Communities report found that more than one in three domestic and family violence protection orders issued by the Magistrate Court were issued to protect men.
And one in three victims of current partner violence during a 12 month period were male, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
'When it comes to hypocritically extolling the virtues of tolerance and falsely presenting themselves as defenders of free speech, collectivist feminists are true experts. They claim that they fight to liberate and empower women, but any time a woman dares to say something that bothers them, they try to censor her in hordes.
Last week, I published a video in which I spoke of “the tyranny of collectivist feminism.” Naturally, the video was online for less than one day because the social medium in which I had published it decided to delete my account due to “massive complaints” about my viewpoint. The feminists who argue that I’m wrong and that they want to establish no kind of tyranny managed to remove my video from the air simply because they didn’t like it.
'In Australia, 1 in 6 children don't live with their biological Dad and in the UK and USA it's 1 in 3...
Everyday, 261 Divorce cases are lodged in our Australian Federal Circuit Court and it's estimated that at least 3 dads take their lives due to family related issues. The rate of suicide and depression with both dads and children are at there highest level ever.
Since the first screening of this film back in November 2014, Karen and her team have presented the film in Parliament, Canberra after being personally invited by two politicians to open discussions into reforming the Australian Family Court system.
Karen also spoke at the Men's Family Law/Violence Conference Victoria. More recently at Senator John Madigan's campaign dinner and a Family Court rally event of over 200 people in Fitzroy Town Hall.'
