'A British woman dubbed an "attention-seeking" liar for falsely accusing 15 men of rape and sexual assault during four separate encounters was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison.

Jemma Beale, 25, was found guilty at London's Southwark Crown Court in July on four counts of perjury and four counts of perverting the course of justice, The Sun reported. Judge Nicholas Loraine-Smith called Beale a "convincing liar" who liked being pitied as the victim.

"This trial has revealed, what was then not obvious, that you are a very, very convincing liar and you enjoy being seen as a victim," Loraine-Smith said in court. "The prosecution described your life as a 'construct of bogus victimhood.'"'

'A teacher at the elite Brentwood School has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with an underage student, authorities said.

Aimee Palmitessa, 45, was taken into custody Friday by detectives, said Tony Im, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. The alleged victim is a 16-year-old student at the school.

Palmitessa was booked on suspicion of statutory rape — sex involving a minor, Im said. She has since been released on bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

She could not be reached for comment Sunday.

Palmitessa is a biology teacher at the private school, one of Los Angeles’ most expensive schools, sources told The Times. She has a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology and previously taught at Penn State Abington.

Mike Riera, head of Brentwood School, informed parents of the arrest in a newsletter sent out on Saturday and said that officials were “shocked and distressed” over the allegations.

Joanne Lee Kerr's demands for money from a Blenheim man turned into threats in December. She threatened to go to the police and say he raped her, and write on Facebook that he was a convicted sex offender who preyed on young girls.

After lengthy negotiations with Kerr, the man told police and Kerr was charged with blackmail.'

'Women have to finish just four push-ups in order to pass the Australian Army fitness test, as part of an effort to double the number of female troops.

The initial test consists of just four push-ups and 20 sit-ups, The Daily Telegraph reported.

If women pass the test they are sent off on a seven-week pre-conditioning course, where they prepare for the formal Army recruit course and more rigorous tests.

After the seven weeks of training they need to complete eight push-ups and 45 sit-ups in order to start proper training.

The fitness tests were created with increased female membership in mind, after it was revealed the Australian Army wanted to double its female intake.

You'd have to be living under a rock not to know about Charlottesville, the white nationalist protesters and the fatal incident that took place there recently, and the counter-protesters that massed in protest.

Indeed, the white nationalists represent a direct challenge to American democracy.  Their numbers are growing.  This is not good.  Counter-protesters predictably appear, and that is good.  If groups proclaiming racial supremacy along with extremist nationalist positions went unchallenged by counter-protests, I'd be very worried for America.  Well, not that I'm not anyway.  But I'd be worried even more.

'A woman in Clyde was arrested Monday morning after a domestic dispute in Clyde.

According to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies, 22-year-old Kaitlyn Zimmerman got into a verbal argument with her boyfriend at a home on Elm Street.

Zimmerman is accused of punching her boyfriend in the face several times, while the boyfriend was holding the couple's three-year-old son.

She then allegedly damaged several items belonging to her boyfriend, as well.

Zimmerman was charged with harassment 2nd, criminal mischief 4th, and endangering the welfare of a child. She was arrested and remanded to the Wayne County Jail.'

'A Michigan college student was charged Monday after she falsely reported to campus police that she was attacked and raped.

Mary Zolkowski, 21, faces felony charges after she told authorities contradictory stories about a rape at Delta College in University Center, according to Michigan Live.

Authorities said the student’s mother initially reported the alleged attack on Feb. 22 to the Delta College Public Safety Office.

Zolkowski then got in contact with police and claimed she was walking to her car when a man grabbed her from behind. According to her account, the man raped her without a condom while holding her face and throat.'

'Education Secretary Betsy DeVos ignited a firestorm in recent months after signaling that she might pull back Obama administration policies intended to protect victims of sexual assault at college campuses. But amid the intense criticism directed toward DeVos, one lawsuit out of Amherst College demonstrates just how unfairly the Obama policies can operate for students wrongly accused of sexual misconduct.

On a factual basis, the Amherst case — settled out of court this month between the university and an expelled student accused of sexual assault — is one of the most egregious since the Obama administration implemented its policy in 2011. The lawsuit revealed documents that the public almost never gets to see, such as the full investigative file, the transcript of the disciplinary hearing and other material from the campus process.

As laid out in the legal complaint and subsequent filings, the controversy over the investigation has focused mostly on a string of texts that the accuser sent the night of the incident. The texts suggest that she had initiated the sexual encounter and that she was in search of a “good lie” to avoid fallout for having hooked up with the accused student, her roommate’s boyfriend.

Initially, the accuser denied sending any texts relevant to the case. During the college’s disciplinary hearing, however, the accuser appeared to contradict that claim, twice admitting that she had sent relevant texts. Inexplicably, none of the panel members asked her to address the contradiction.
