Maryland Judicial Equality Committee Seeks Volunteers

Dan Scott writes, "I am helping to form an new group in Maryland for the
express purpose of lobbying the legislature and
raising the issues of gender
discrimination in the court system during this
election cycle in November 2002. It is my belief that
we need to approach the issue as a matter of Civil
Rights versus Father's Rights. By taking the approach
of equal treatment under the Law we will also be
drawing in women to uphold a basic cause which they
themselves have benefited. Discrimination is
discrimination, no matter who is the object of it. I
am sure you are appalled as I am when anyone is
discriminated against for whatever the reason whether
it be race, age, nationality, ethnicity, religion or
gender. The reasons given for the preferential
treatment of certain groups range from the subtle to
the outrageous, this is done by using people's fear
and ignorance to fan hatred using stereotypes.

Lands' End Bashes Men in Recent Catalog

Equalitarian62 writes, "There is a story titled "When Rosie Rolled 'Em Up" (by
Charles Hirshberg) in the June Lands' End catalog.
Instead of simply describing the contribution of women
to the war effort (which in itself was commendable),
this story goes on to portray men as bigoted and
lecherous. As I couldn't find a link to the full story
at the Lands' End site, I will summarize the anti-male
parts here.
" Read on for the full submission.

Oklahoma Governor Vetoes Male-only Castration Bill

SJones writes "The governor of Oklahoma showed some rare integrity by vetoing the feminist bill mandating surgical castration for male-only sex offenders on their first conviction. He needs our support because he'll sure catch hell for doing the right thing.

And the message board associated with this story is filled with idiots demanding worse treatment, so step up and speak out.

The story is here"

Challenging Government MS-information

Anonymous User writes "According to a New York Times article [free reg. required], a little-known amendment called the Data Quality Act allows anyone to challenge the accuracy of online information provided by the US Federal Government. From the article: "The law, which takes full effect on Oct. 1, creates a system under which anyone could point out errors in documents; if an error is confirmed, an agency would have to remove the data from government Web sites and publications." This could have interesting implications for feminist-inspired "information" about gender issues."

Ad Council's DV Prevention Program

bledso writes, "The Ad Council's Domestic Violence Prevention program looks as if it exclusively blames men for domestic violence: "Adults have an important role to play in the fight against domestic violence. The objective of the campaign is to engage men and have them speak to pre-teen/teen boys about how women should be treated. By influencing the attitudes and behaviors of young boys, adults can prevent violence towards women and girls. Through TV, print and radio ads, men are encouraged to learn about the role they can play in putting an end to domestic violence." This page presents some interesting statistics. It also tells us that George Perlov (info@adcouncil.org) can be contacted for more details. George may need some details from *us*."

Critic Blasts IWF, Promotes Myths

Bledso writes "My local paper, The Albany Times Union, recently ran this opinion column by Martha Ezzard who is a columnist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She expresses some harsh criticism of the IWF and declares feminism an "unfinished revolution". She covers quite a broad spectrum of the usual myths. The Times Union has been a staunch supporter of this type of rhetoric and I think they really deserve an onslaught of rebuttals. I've tried to write them numerous times, but they simply ignore me. Unfortunately, there aren't many strong voices in my neck of the woods. Let's make ourselves known!"

CEDAW, Again

frank h writes "Folks,
a dangerous UN treaty is getting new attention. The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) is an absolute attack on men and masculinity worldwide. A Senate hearing is scheduled for June 13 to consider ratifying it. Radical feminists are visiting Senators to convince them to vote for it. The UN committee overseeing the enforcement of CEDAW has: Reprimanded Belarus for celebrating Mother's Day, Told China to "decriminalize prostitution," Complained about Mexico's "lack of access ... to easy and swift abortion," Told Armenia to "combat the traditional stereotype of women in the noble role of mother." Please urge your senator to VOTE NO on CEDAW."

Class Action Lawsuit Legit?

Anonymous User writes "Based on some email I received I went to the Indiana Civil Rights Council to read about a potential class action lawsuit challenging child support and the concept of "non-custodial" parents. Does anyone know anything about the organization or its officers?"

McElroy Honors Fathers and Father's Rights with Article

Wendy McElroy wrote for her FoxNews column this week about the importance of fatherhood, and the struggles that dads face in the face of a radical feminism which seeks to eliminate the need for men. She also mentions the NCFM rally which coincides with an N.O.W. conference later this month. Thank you, Wendy.

MND Radio Program on Father's Rights

Men's issues columnist Glenn Sacks and fathers' rights activist Dianna Thompson discuss how the child support enforcement system turns military reservists who answer their country's call into criminals and "deadbeat dads" who are subject to arrest upon their return to the US.
Also discussed are Australian men's "marriage strike" and Canadian Senator Anne Cools' bombshell pro-father address in Washington, DC.
The show is tonight (Tuesday, 6/4) from 6-7 PST and will repeat throughout the evening. For more information or to listen, go to Men's News Daily.

Catholic Nuns Accused of Sexually Molesting Boys

Anonymous User writes "With all the focus on the Catholic church sexual abuse scandal these days, it is not surprising to hear feminists claim that the church breeds pedophilia in men. Unfortunately for the feminists, it appears to breed it in nuns as well, as this Boston Herald story explains."

Why Johnny Won't Read

Neil Steyskal sent us this Washington Post article and writes "Here's a guy that has developed methods to make reading attractive to boys. With boys falling further and further behind in school, and with the percentage of male college student dropping fast, this is a program that's vitally important." Scieszka, of course, is the main impetus behind the guysread.com web site. It's good to see he's getting some attention from the media about this issue.

Steve sent in a link to this site, which is the most comprehensive and up to date web site I know of on the subject of sexual abuse of men, particularly boys. It includes dozens of references, information on articles and books on the subject, and even a special section on abuse perpetrated by females. Sacks Analyzes Tawny Kitaen DV Accusation

Glenn Sacks wrote another great article on domestic violence, this one covering the issue of false accusations of DV made against men in custody disputes. In this case, Chuck Finley successfully had Kitaen charged with domestic violence with ample evidence of the attack on his body. But shortly after he was awarded temporary custody of their children, Kitaen struck back with unsubstantiated claims of being a victim of domestic violence too. Sacks uses this as an opportunity to expose the issue of false accusations during divorce and custody battles, and how common this kind of scenario really is.
