nutboy writes "Some good news for fathers in Canada. In the province of British Columbia, a sexist law which barred men from having any rights re the naming of their children, has been struck down.
What I find interesting is that the details of the couple mentioned seem very similar to those of a B.C. couple in which the man was falsely accused of rape by the woman, and had to prove his innocence. Perhaps someone can look into this."

Chas writes "Here is a report
of a group of men in Melbourne, Australia, who regularly get together for a meal in a pub. The purpose of the group is to talk crap... just like women do. And to have fun and time together as good mates in a men-only setting.
Starting with 10 members there is now a waiting list of 69 to join this "Reclaim the Pants" group. Each of the men wears a colour patch which becomes his name for the night.
Sounds like a load of fun! I love the way the group pokes fun at the way men and women communicate, 'getting in touch with your inner female' crap, the implied mockery of 'Reclaim the Night' movement in the group's name, "Reclaim the Pants'.
Maybe this is something to consider for future Men's Groups?"

Anonymous User writes "I read this article on Strike The Root:
Custody Court Massacre -- Bernard Chapin 'The thing I don't understand is how the guy in the story was persuaded into marriage in the first place. He went to the court thinking that his life would be changing for the better, but now he found that his life was over. “I’m going to jail” he told me on the phone. I argued with him and said that wasn’t possible, but after speaking with somebody who does testimony on the behalf of fathers, I discovered that jail time could well be a likelihood for his failure to pay. Robert summed up the proceedings: “The judge had heard this all before. American man takes advantage of innocent immigrant girl. He’ll have to pay and pay and pay.” Only you can’t get 60 grand from a man who’s down 40'. "

The other day columnist Ted Byfeild opined as to why he wasn't on the 'Hit List' or 'Hate List' which ever you prefer. Erin Pizzey had the time to read his article and wrote a response to his column. Hopefully the Edmonton Sun will have the courage to print the letter, until then I will post the letter on the 'post comments section' and I recommend that you pass it along as far and wide as you can. For more on Erin Pizzey travel here.

Code Monkey writes "In New Hampshire a bill was proposed in the state legislature that would prohibit the family courts from requiring divorced parents to pay college costs for children over the age of 18. The bill's primary sponsor, Rep. David Bickford, proposed it after a Dover man was jailed for 43 days when he couldn't come up with almost $17,000 to pay for half of his daughter's private university tuition. Proponents of the bill say it's unfair to force divorced parents to pay college costs when the same isn't done for married parents. Unfortunately, the bill has been referred back to commission and won't be re-introduced again until next year. Read the Foster's Daily Democrat news article."

The article includes the cute zinger: "Men start pushing women around even before they leave the womb." Oh, ha ha. It is to laugh.
Please inform the editors that they shouldn't give-in to the urge to man-bash.

Tatis writes "An influential Canadian ministry has accused American and Canadian men’s and fathers’ organizations of "hate propaganda" and has issued recommendations which could threaten the Canadian groups with prosecution and jail.
Marc Angelucci and Ray Blumhorst of the National Coalition of Free Men, one of the groups targeted by the report, will discuss this threat and NCFM's struggle for men and fathers on His Side with Glenn Sacks on KRLA 870 AM in Los Angeles at 11 PM on Sunday, June 8. LeMorteMark writes "I just learned that the cable station TNN, will become SpikeTV. It appears they are trying to market this as "TV for Men". I am looking forward to seeing this channel but when I checked out the website, it looked more like a station for reruns of cancelled shows than a "Lifetime for men". Still its a step in the right direction. They should have a couple of shows that focus on men's news and politics. Maybe a news program anchored by Glenn Sacks or a TV version of "families under siege". I would be more interested in that kind of stuff than just seeing more stereotypes of guys belching and watching football. Here's the website: Spike Tv"
