From the Ananova article...

Woman accused of plotting rape apologizes ??????

Graeme Hamilton

National Post

Saturday, September 06, 2003

"She wrote in July, 2002, [in] her long-running correspondence with an imprisoned rapist and certified dangerous offender. "My limits? I don't really know," … But no, I don't think I'd want to witness a slaying. Torture maybe!" … "I don't want her dead. I want her alive to live with the pain and suffering."

IMHO statistics on spousal abuse are junk science in pristine form."

Huge List of Evidence of DV against Men

crescentluna writes "I would guess at roughly 300 entries shown here. This is a reference list, some are books about domestic violence, some aren't studies of domestic violence but of how people respond to it. If people try to claim Straus and Gelles aren't enough, here are plenty more."

Higher-Ed Gender Gap Article Sends Bad Message

Code Monkey writes "I found this article in the Portland, Maine Press-Herald to be similar to a lot on the topic of men's declining enrollment in higher education. The article acknowledges that women are getting degrees at a much higher rate than men, that this gender gap is continually increasing, but makes excuses for the disparity that tries to downlplay the significance of this issue. For example, claiming that "women need college degrees just to get jobs that pay as much as the jobs men get straight out of high school", and focusing on the oh-so-urgent issue that women won't be able to find enough "qualified" men to marry. The article even refers to Boston Globe's leading male-bashing columnist, Ellen Goodman. You can send respones to the editor at letters@pressherald.com."

Feminists haven't been complaining enough

I never thought I would write those words in my life, but it seems that when it comes to Warren Farrell's campaign feminists have suddenly become unusually silent. Now I'm not sure what the medical reason is for this, (I'm guessing an outbreak of laryngitis), but as we all know if the feminists were healthy they'd be protesting up a storm. So it occured to me that men's activists, being the kind and helpful people we are, might want to complain about Farrell's campaign for them. See this week's challenge for details.

First hand account of a "rape"

Been through too much already writes "Monday 4th August was a memorable day for me; it was the day that three policemen walked into my place of work and escorted me outside, before telling me I was under arrest for rape.

(Before I go on, I should make clear that I am from England, but I have read your site for some time, and it seems that you have to put up with the same injustices that we do. Strangely I have found no English equivalent of your board.)

Boom in female inmates focus of national meeting

Over the last 20 years, the number of women in prison has jumped from 4.3% of the total US prison population to 6.8%. The list of reasons includes gender-blind sentencing, but it appears as if the spokeswoman for the recently created National Workshop on Adult and Juvenile Female Offenders plans to stress harsher drug laws as the reason. See Press Herald article here.

Considering that men are far more likely than women to be locked up, (rather than sent to treatment), for drugs and that even with the gender-blind sentencing guidelines men in the US still recieve an average sentence length twice that of women regardless of the severity of the crime see DOJ statistics, (table 5-5), methinks this is yet another attempt to pretend female criminals really aren't criminals.

Last day to complete this week's challenge

Just a reminder that today is the last day to complete the Weekly Activist Challenge over at the grassroots center. By the way I received a fortune cookie at lunch who's fortune read "Great tidings of joy will befall those who meet life's challenges", and I'm pretty sure life's challenges in this case refers to the Farrell Grassroots Activism Challenges. Also todays Daily Activist Challenge should be a fun one for those who wish to participate, but you'll probably want to start right away.

This time, we're looking at marital rape, namely what are your opinions of it? Do you see it as a way to attack the nearest man through his sexuality? Or perhaps as an excuse for the nearest woman to play sexual power games? Or as a sign of madness that there's a law for women who are terrified of having adult relations with the man she loved enough to marry? Regardless, let's hear what you have to say. I know my comments above cut close to heresy for some of us, but if you want to see the big picture, it helps to look at everything, ya know?

Update - Farrell has nailed the theses

I've just received confirmation that Farrell has nailed the theses to the Capitol door as planned. Apparently there was only a minor problem when police arrived and informed him he needed a permit to nail the ten theses to the capital building, (makes you wonder how some of these laws come about), so the cops handed him a few papers, he filled them out and was granted a permit. I've not found any info from any major news sources yet but the incident was watched by both FOX and NBC's Sacramento affiliates and word has it you might want to keep your eye on the Sacramento Bee for a report too.

Women Admits Lying About Rape

SacredNaCl writes "The Age Has a story of how a woman faked a violent rape story, claiming her husband raped her in front of the kids to get the edge in a divorce. It's even complete with video evidence of her coaching the kids to lie, a fallback lie, and just for good measure the female attorney throws in the old worn out fallback lie to deny accountability "this shows how dysfunctional and how much abuse she took"?

Unfortunately it doesn't say what they will do to her, but irregardless of what they do, it will not be severe enough IMO."

Selective Service

Anonymous User writes "The federal government requires only males above 18 to register for the Selective Service (i.e., sign up for the draft) in order to receive financial aid for school. Only males. A group of students have filed a lawsuit claiming 5th and 14th Amendment violations. The article does not mention results. Does anyone know what has happened?"
