Another violent femmes type story here. Apparently "empowerment" without good sportsmanship is the rule of the day in some girls' high school athletic deprtments.

I didn't know whether to post this under Humor or News. I settled on News since it sure wasn't a funny episode to their victim - or since the victim was female, was it that the cheerleaders were empowered and picked the wrong target to vent their righteous and wholly understandable anger against the evil, oppressive patriarchy? Or was it something else? I am sure a man or men are going to be held to blame eventually...

It isn't just certain priests in the church these days, apparently, in trouble for sex-related offenses against children. However you are not likely to see this story on the front page any time real soon. Her punishment? 6 months in jail, counselling, and a 10-year suspended sentence. The story closes with: "Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey L. Bryant III had sought a long prison term, noting that this was not a one-time act."
Wonder what she would have gotten if her victim in this case had been a little girl instead?

Amyone who thinks males/male sexuality are not being persecuted on college campuses need only read this story. I doubt if the sexes in the story were reversed would a group of girls get into any trouble. (Pleae click 'Read More', below).

Anonymous User writes "Tonight (Sept 24, 2004) ABC's 20/20 aired Barbara Walters' interview with pedophile Mary Kay Letourneau. Mary has had a long-term sexual relationship with her then 6th grade student. Because she is a women pedophile the interview centered around her 'tragic relationship.' She was asked questions like 'How did you feel [when you were caught]?', 'your children [the victim's] are growing up without a mother', and 'Will you marry him?' A pedophile should never be given such treatment regardless of gender but for some reason women pedophiles are given a free pass. Shame on you Barbara, 20/20, and ABC."

bandersnatch writes "According to this article, researchers are discovering that men and women are even more different than anyone realized. However, as usual, the researchers and doctors interviewed for this article, seem obsessed with making treatment more "female-friendly". Even at the end of the article, there are links provided to two female-only health organizations."

D. E. Unrau writes "This article
"has a T-shirt that plays on the issue of domestic violence is generating plenty of controversy as well as getting attention from the Ontario government.
The shirt is sold at a St. Catharines clothing store and features a hammer dripping with blood above a statement that reads, "she was asking for it.''"
What the article doesn't say, and what wasn't protested it all, is that the store also sells a shirt that has a pair of bloody scissors that says "he was asking for it.""

robrob writes "It is reported here that Professor Wendy Hall, computer scientist, advisor to the government, and president of the British Computer Society thinks the future of I.T. is female. Perhaps she could answer why everytime certain "female" skills are seen as important, women seem to think that they will soon dominate that particular field. As for her suggestion that we could discriminate by allowing women to study IT at university for free, we could perhaps ask her if we could do the same for men in medicine, law and teaching courses where men are now under-represented. Remember, she's an advisor to the UK Government!"
