Australian Study Says Men Are Softies About Pain

Dr. Dan writes "A study in Australia found that men take more narcotics than women even when the pain level is the same. "Men's reputations as being big softies when confronted with pain could also help explain the result," said Prof. Mari Botti, the woman who chairs the research unit where the study was done.

Isn’t it tiresome that when men complain about pain, we’re babies or "softies," but when we tough it out, we’re harangued for just trying to be macho?"

The Blue Ribbon Prostate Initiative

Anon user writes "Blue Ribbon Prostate Initiative

I was watching "Deborah Norville Tonight" on MSNBC today (11/18) and saw a story about a prostate cancer awareness advertising campaign. The story focused on whether or not the ads were "appropriate" for children to view because of their slogans. (Of course, I don't think that similar ads for breast cancer awareness would be "inappropriate".)

Julie Lewit-Nirenberg, the President and CEO of the Blue Ribbon Prostate Initiative (BRPI), mentioned that prostate cancer awareness is important enough to justify the campaign that could save the lives of 30,000 men a year.

She also pointed out that prostate cancer is as dangerous for men as breast cancer is for women, something that MRAs already know, but it was the first time I saw something like this mentioned in the mainstream media. The BRPI was only formed a few months ago, and from what I saw on their web site, it looks promising!

From the BRPI web site:
"The Blue Ribbon Prostate Initiative was started by women who are veterans of the breast cancer wars. For several reasons, some of them selfish:

* We want our men healthy and able to perform.

* We want them alive.

* We have seen what the power of driven women can do.

* We have seen what information and ingenuity can do.

* We believe that saving men's lives is as important as saving women's lives."

Kobe's Story to be made into a film in India

bharati writes "The abbaas Mastan Duo are planning a release of the film "Aitbaar" here
This is loosly based on the trials and Tribulations of Kobe Bryant though it will be Indianised by having Songs and Dances In words of Abbas "Basically, it is about how a woman can destroy a man’s career by accusing him of sexual harassment. We have taken the idea from famous cases that hit the headlines - like the Kobe Bryant case, the South African judge accused of rape in Mumbai and other fairly frequent examples where women in corporate houses have accused men of sexual harassment. In some of these cases, men often turn out to be victims".

I think it would be a good watch given the fact that Abbas Mastan have produced really good movies in the past. It is due to be released soon."

Another Male denigrating TV commercial

Ray writes "I keep seeing this really annoying Dell Computer commercial airing on TV stations. I just saw it this morning on the FOX cable channel in Los Angeles. In alternating scenes, a young man is sitting at his computer: playing cards, cutting and pasting his head on statues, crying at a scene of a dog running on the beach. He is then shown “rocking out” to music as he is uses drum sticks on the back of his chair to keep rhythm.

At this point a woman with blond stringy hair barges in and asks, “How are the bills coming?” Is this woman his wife or his mother? She could be either. The young man says, “okay” or something like that, the woman leaves, and he goes back to what he was doing. Moments later the woman barges back in again, this time hurling the door open with no regard for what, or who, is on the other side, and the young man says, “What?” In the final scene after Dell shows some of it product, the man is shown really rocking out, jumps on a chair and falls on the floor like a “big dufus.” "

Massachusetts Dads' group pushes for fairness

Scott Haltzman writes "

- DADS' GROUP PUSHES FOR FAIRNESS IN CUSTODY LAWS
Lowell Sun
November 14, 2004
By JULIE MEHEGAN, Sun Statehouse Bureau

BOSTON - Advocates for divorced fathers say they won their first fight by convincing voters that shared custody of children is a good idea.

Now, they hope to win over the state Legislature.

On Election Day, voters approved a non-binding question backed by Fathers & Families, seeking to reform custody laws. "This is a great step in the right direction for kids," said Ned Holstein, president of the nonprofit advocacy group. "We now have both the voters and
the researchers agreeing that the best thing for children is spending a lot of time with both parents."

Holstein and Garry said they will press to ensure family courts enter divorce proceedings under the assumption both parents want and are entitled to shared legal and physical custody."

White Feather Feminism

AngryMan writes "In Britain during WWI groups of feminists, including the great Pankhursts, used public humiliation to coerce men into enlisting in the army by presenting them with white feathers, a symbol of cowardice. Next time you hear a feminist complain about male aggression don't forget to remind her of this. Articles here and here."

WashPost.com: Mother Charged in 1972 Murder of Son

Do my eyes deceive me? The Washington Post's web site home page as of this writing has a large link to this story. I decided to post this under "Media" because while of course the story content is very significant, we all know women murdering their own kids is not new. However the Post putting link to such a story on its home page sure is.

Dying Woman Confesses To Mudering Her Husband

thea writes "CNN's website reports on a woman confessing to murdering her husband and getting rid of his body in a much similar and gruesome form of a serial killer on her deathbed to one of her children. Would it have made any difference had she lived and been arrested? Or would she have gotten a slap on the wrist with a "distraught" defense, then a book and movie deal? Oh and don't forget an interview with Oprah and ABC."

Growing Awareness of Sexual Abuse by Females

By the day, the feminist delusion that females are victims and males are evil continues to collapse. Here's commentary on the growing awareness of sexual abuse of children by females. Now I wish they'd more frequently address the often hidden and ignored violent abuse of children by women.
