Sorry, folks, I don't know WHAT I was thinking when I made the previous post's headline on MANN out as the Men's Equality Congress being only 6 days away. I have corrected it to reflect reality. I would claim this as a senior moment but alas I am just not old enough yet to get away with it. :) Hope y'all can forgive my mistake.

Come one, come all! This year's Congress promises to rival last year's in progress for the cause of men's/father's rights as well as just plain being a whole lotta fun. Visit the web site where you will find details here.

Again, truth being much stranger than fiction, stories like this one dwarf any fiction ever written.
Would that that were not the case.

bandersnatch writes "From MSNBC:
A 29-year-old Orange County woman has been charged with falsely accusing six men of kidnapping her at gunpoint and raping her.
An indictment returned by an Orange County grand jury also accuses Tamara Anne Moonier with fraudulently receiving more than $1,800 from a state emergency fund for crime victims. Authorities said Moonier went to the Fullerton Police Department on June 6 to report that she had been abducted outside a bar at gunpoint, taken to an unknown location and raped. Police said one of the men Moonier had accused provided a tape showing she had orchestrated the sexual encounter."

Marc A. writes "Mother Jones Magazine just did a totally biased article on domestic violence. It ignored male victims altogether and talked about VAWA and the lack of services for "battered women" only. It didn't even give the token recognition that we're starting to see occasionally.
Years ago they did an article titled "Hitting the Wall" about how researchers are repeatedly finding that women initiate DV as often as men do. It looks like they "forgot" that article.
You send a letter for publishing at backtalk-at-motherjones.com.

Well it's not quite the whole truth, but for MSN, it's a start anyway. This article discusses infidelity and its causes, openly acknowledging (*gasp!*) that yes indeed, women have affairs, too, and for diverse reasons.

Ray writes "This author asks the question, Did Phil Hartman Die from Congressionally-Sanctioned Discrimination? Mark Rosenthal, the author, then states:
"Senator Joseph Biden recently introduced the 2005 VAWA reauthorization bill. When challenged to make the bill gender inclusive, Biden responded, "Nothing in the act denies services, programs, funding or assistance to male victims of violence."
"If these services are so readily available to men abused by their wives, why didn't Phil seek help from one of the numerous battered women's shelters around Los Angeles? Could it be that being "eligible to apply for services" is quite a different thing from being able to receive services when you need them?"

Stanley B. Gaver writes "I've always been skeptical about the effectiveness of online petitions. However, after writing a pointed letter to Senator Joseph Biden about VAWA, I didn't feel that it was sufficient only to write a letter that would likely be ignored by Biden anyway.
VAWA is such an incredibly biased and bigoted law, I think that it's time to turn up the heat on "VAWA Joe", using any legitimate avenue available. I have created a petition on PetitionOnline that summarizes why VAWA is such a bad law and requests Biden to make it gender neutral."

Tirryb writes "This story on News.com.au explains how guards in a certain part of India are being forced into letting timber thieves go - because the women with them begin to strip and call for help. Scared of 'trouble with the police', the guards are forced to let the thieves go. What does that say about the gender inequalities existant in the Indian legal system today..?"

Anonymous User writes "Tucker Carlson, host of MSNBC's "The Situation" had a discussion with a female Navy captain on the issue of women in combat. Suffice it to say that Carlson flatly states that violence against men and violence against women are different.
The transcript is here (but you will have to scroll down quite a bit for the topic)."

Marc A. writes "The Sheriff of San Bernardino County in California has refuted some feminist myths about domestic violence on its website. They refute the 95% myth, the "female violence isn't serious" myth, and the self defense myth. Of course, there's much more they could cite, and refute, and unfortunately they then go on to use gender-exclusive language about things that are true about both sexes (thereby spreading other falsehoods). But this is still a good sign, and I'd say quite surprising for California. There is no doubt that the work of MRAs in stirring things up have helped prompt this kind of thing. We look forward to it increasing."

AngryMan writes "Up to 1,000 teenage boys have been separated from their parents and thrown out of their communities by a polygamous sect to make more young women available for older men, Utah officials claim.
Many of these "Lost Boys", some as young as 13, have simply been dumped on the side of the road in Arizona and Utah, by the leaders of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS), and told they will never see their families again or go to heaven."
We only ever hear about the effects of polygamy on women. This is the other side of the coin. Story here"
