Ray writes "Wow! If this is a valid reason for a shelter official to resign (...assigning a characteristic to everybody of a certain gender) , then very soon they'll all be un-womaned, and not just in Sweden:
"After a period of intense criticism and scrutiny, Ireen von Wachenfeldt, chairwoman of women's shelter organisation ROKS, has resigned.
Von Wachenfeldt is a high profile and influential radical feminist, who found herself at the centre of a media storm recently following her appearance in the SVT documentary 'Könskriget' (Battle of the Sexes). In the programme, she appeared to state that "men are animals". But she claimed the comments was taken out of context.'"

Barry Pearson writes "Recently, there have been some newspaper headlines claiming 'Paternity fraud is an urban myth'. They claim to be based on some research in Australia. In fact, they totally distort the research, which came to no such conclusion. My description of the media errors is found here and here."

SacredNaCl writes "This link Direct
Download (81MB WMV format, right click save as) provides a look
inside at some of the abuses occuring in our own US Prisons, primarily
against men. This footage is far worse than that coming out of Iraq &
Cuba. While I don't agree with all of their policitical views, the BBC did an excellent job in presenting their case here and it is definitely worth a look."

On July 19th, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. And right now, Senator Biden only wants to invite persons who will sing the praises of VAWA. In other words, he wants to have a rubber-stamp hearing.
It's crucial that the Judiciary Committee hear the truth about VAWA -- how it ignores the research about DV and grossly discriminates against men.
Two persons who have each spent over three decades researching family violence:
* Murray Straus, Ph.D., founder of the University of New Hampshire Family Research Laboratory
* Richard Gelles, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania
These are the people who should be testifying on July 19, not the advocates who knowingly slant the truth and discriminate against needy DV victims.

Practical Feminist writes "There is a way that a man can choose not to have kids.
Keep your dick in your pants!!!!
After conception, the child is part of the woman's body and that is why only the woman can choose what to do.
You guys are a bunch of pathetic morons."

Tirryb writes "I followed a link to the UK newspaper the Guardian, and noticed that the story was within a folder called 'gender'. On editing the link I found an index page listing numerous recent gender-based stories. Quite interesting, but if you skip down the list it seems very one-sided - I'd say 10 headline 'poor women' stories for every small 'gee men may have it a bit rough too' story. Or maybe it's just me..."

Sorry, folks, I don't know WHAT I was thinking when I made the previous post's headline on MANN out as the Men's Equality Congress being only 6 days away. I have corrected it to reflect reality. I would claim this as a senior moment but alas I am just not old enough yet to get away with it. :) Hope y'all can forgive my mistake.

Come one, come all! This year's Congress promises to rival last year's in progress for the cause of men's/father's rights as well as just plain being a whole lotta fun. Visit the web site where you will find details here.

Again, truth being much stranger than fiction, stories like this one dwarf any fiction ever written.
Would that that were not the case.

bandersnatch writes "From MSNBC:
A 29-year-old Orange County woman has been charged with falsely accusing six men of kidnapping her at gunpoint and raping her.
An indictment returned by an Orange County grand jury also accuses Tamara Anne Moonier with fraudulently receiving more than $1,800 from a state emergency fund for crime victims. Authorities said Moonier went to the Fullerton Police Department on June 6 to report that she had been abducted outside a bar at gunpoint, taken to an unknown location and raped. Police said one of the men Moonier had accused provided a tape showing she had orchestrated the sexual encounter."
