MANN also received this submission on this story as well, so the posts are combined:
Anonymous User writes "The reaction to "Roe vs Wade for Men" on Fark.com is interesting for its length (many posts) and for the overall position that responsibility for and rights with respect to pregnancy is way out of balance and needs some redress."

Despite taking more P/T jobs than men (three guesses as to who makes up the income difference-- hint: choices are: husband, boyfriend, ex-husband), the BBC once again paints women-as-victims despite the better educational levels and opportunities presented to them. Of course in response, "something must be done", and the EC plans to do just that. Read it here.

Luek writes "Well, almost. She did plea down to 5 years in prison for letting her infant daughter die from heat stress.
When the police found her passed out in her car from drug and alcohol intoxication they revived her and let her drive off though she had two outstanding warrants against her for failure to appear on two charges of driving with a suspended license.
This happened in Florida the same state that arrested the singer Yanni under the VAWA law for allegedly hitting his freeloading treaspassing girlfriend. Freeloading girlfriends in Florida have more priority than children in danger from drunken moms, it seems."

Roy writes "Slate's culture editor Meghan O'Rourke reviews a new research study that links feminist beliefs with female unhappiness: "Feminist ideals, not domestic duties, seem to be what make wives morose. Progressive married women — who should be enjoying some or all of the fruits that Freidan lobbied for — are less happy, it would appear, than women who live as if Friedan never existed." DUH? Only a university educated neo-feminist journalism major would be flabbergasted by this "discovery!" Good read and excellent debate link here."

robrob writes "This is the latest attempt in the UK to "increase" conviction rates for rape. In short, if a woman is drunk and has sex with you, the onus will be on you to prove she consented. This is another example of the "Adult-Baby" defence. A woman can be adult enough to drink alcohol, own a house, and invite men back. However, if she wants sex and even consents to it, but can't remember doing so the next day, she can claim rape and the responsibility will be on the male to prove she ever gave consent. It's amazing how Rape Laws are continuously tweaked compared to any other legislation, isn't it?"

Anonymous User writes "The New Age musician Yanni was arrested on "domestic violence" charges. As usual a woman lied and a man got punished. Hopefully, this incident will bring public's attention to the epidemic of false DV charges and the corrupt system of mandatory arrest and no-drop prosecution under which American men suffer..."

Recently Plan USA started a new campaign: Give a girl child an equal chance. Recent recipients of donation reminders face a well-directed solicitation for this new program on the back of their remittance envelopes.
If you feel so inclined, contact them at: DonorRelations-at-planusa.org or 800-556-7918 and let them know what you think of their highly selective vision regarding the well-being of children. May I suggest sending them facts about the state of boys and men in the world and remind them of the many ways in which males die at alarmingly (for some anyway) higher rates than females in all sorts of contexts and for many reasons that are a direct expression of how they are perceived, treated, and USED, simply due to their maleness.

Tirryb writes "News.com.au reports here that a doctor got divorced, and due to the stress gave up his high paid job to take a part-time much lower stress position.
However the Child Support Agency decided that he had earning 'potential' of at least twice what his new job paid, and he's got slugged with child support payments at that level - equivalent to half his current income.
The moral of the story is simple - we divorce, and we're slaves. Work harder or go to jail, what a choice."

Tirryb writes "News.com.au reports here that a woman dresses in camoflage gear, lies in wait in a snipers 'nest', and shoots her husband dead - but of course she's found not guilty of either manslaughter or murder...
The reason of course is that she was abused mercilessly during her marriage. Even if her version of the marriage is completely true she could have left or had him arrested, but instead chose to put a bullet through his heart and end his life. Not guilty. Go figure."
