Steven Brown writes "A good thing he only sneered at her, otherwise who knows what she'll have been forced to do to him! Story here. Excerpt:
'Mr Hamilton believes had he not sneered at his wife, she wouldn't have carried out these actions.'
These 'actions' being lunging at him with two knives! Also note the headline and general tone of the story. She's referred to as 'mum' and he's referred to as 'husband' not 'dad'!
No need to say of course, that if the genders had been reversed he'd be in prison and she'd be hailed as survivor of domestic violence.
The silly man has decided to stay with her..."

Ragtime writes "From the story:
'A veteran Chatham police officer who headed the force's domestic-violence unit has been charged with assault following a domestic dispute.'
I suspect this violent police woman fully expected to be treated like the "victim" after she slapped and kicked a man, just like so many other violent women before her, "but police were called by a witness, Chief Carl Herder said yesterday." "We have an obligation to the community," Herder said. "We're there to protect the victims, regardless of who the accused is." Nice to see a police chief who's grown a pair!."

Dittohd writes "It appears in this story that in the photo line-up of pictures that the stripper had to choose her three alleged rapists from, there were no wrong answers! All the pictures presented were of lacrosse players so whomever she chose, she couldn't miss. Now if the lacrosse players go free based on the disqualification of the line-up evidence, will they always be considered to have been guilty because they 'got off on a technicality'?"

'A nationwide grass roots campaign has aligned with lawmakers to push passage of two laws designed to close the wage gap between men and women.
The campaign is working with four lawmakers, including New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, in moving forward the Fair Pay Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act.'"

quetzal writes "The St. Petersberg (FL) Times has printed its second front-page article in a series about single dating. Here is an excerpt from the Tuesday installment:
"Pepper Schwartz, a sociologist at the Univ. of Washington (and also a 'Relationship Expert' on PerfectMatch.com) says: 'One group[of middle-aged single men]...is the men nobody wants...They don't earn money or they are obese... They are losers in the truest sense of the word.'"
Ed. note: Check out the discussion on this article here. Also take a look at the first installment in the series. As you may have gathered from the quotation above, the series tone is most definitely not male-friendly, and it's also incredibly shallow in its analysis as well. Maybe they'll do better on the next two parts but I wouldn't hold my breath. Among many other things, the picture that this stampede toward singleness and especially childlessness points to is quite clear: the problem of elder-care facilities being short on staff won't be improving any time soon!

Stan Gaver writes "I found a link on Monster.com entitled The Gender Wage Gap. I clicked it, expecting to find the same old lies and distortions about the so-called Wage Gap. As expected, the opening line included the typical BS, about how "...women in the US workforce still earn substantially less than their male colleagues."
I almost stopped reading right there, but decided to continue on, and was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the article, instead of simply repeating the same old feminist pay-gap mantra, actually rebutted the "discrimination" excuse. In fact, the article went on to include much of the information from Warren Farrell's new book "Why Men Earn More" and did a decent job of fairly presenting the "other" side of the issue.
A good sign that the truth is starting to come out."

Another high-profile case, this... we'll see where it goes. Excerpt:
Bianca Nardi, 28, of Fort Lee, N.J., says in court papers that the sexually charged atmosphere among the show's production staff was fostered by the "intimate and sexual relationship between defendants Maurice Richard Povich and Donna Benner Ingber."
...
Povich is married to the veteran television news anchor Connie Chung.
Gary Rosen, spokesman for the show, flatly denied the allegations, as did a spokeswoman for NBC Universal.
"We are aware of the allegations of harassment made by Ms. Nardi. We have done a complete and thorough investigation of her allegations of harassment and we are satisfied that there is no merit to them," Rosen said. "We stand behind our experienced and dedicated staff, fully."

Each year the parents of 1 million American children get a divorce.
In an estimated one-third of divorces, an allegation of domestic
violence is made, often in the form of a restraining order. These
restraining orders have become so widespread that they are referred to
as “silver bullets,” “slam-dunks,” or simply, “divorce planning.”
In half of all restraining orders, there is not even an allegation
of violence. (http://www.mediaradar.org/docs/VAWA-Restraining-Orders.pdf)
Even in those orders that do allege violence, often the person who
requested the order was mutually involved, the dispute was minor, or
the allegation of violence was flat-out false. So it is estimated that
80% or more of DV allegations represent trumped-up and even malicious
claims of domestic “violence.”

Just won't seem to go away, this story. It has some of everything people love to gawk at and get worked up about.
The behavior of pretty much everyone in this case is reprehensible, all for different and varying reasons. The only question though anyone should be asking is, "Did a rape take place and if so, who did it?" Instead, money, politics (race and otherwise), class struggle and simple rudeness vs. comity all come together to form a great big massive stew of gunk. And is the actual, germane question in the matter really being asked? Will that be what goes on trial?
Relatedly, look at this from Kathleen Parker. Ms. Parker is usually a voice of reason in a lot of instances but IMO in this case she succomed to the urge to think inside the box. Note that she seems to think the LAX players are guilty, presumes them to be guilty, and doesn't seem to even allow for the chance that while they are not the sort of fellows you want in polite company, they may, just may, be innocent of the crime for which they stand accused (contrast the tone she has now with the tone she had on this same topic just recently; I wonder what prompted the changed?). Alas, as men, they will continue to be presumed guilty even if they are proven innocent. She also seems to utterly ignore the fact that strippers come in both sexes and are watched by both sexes-- just Google "chippendales" or look under "adult entertainment" in the Yellow Pages for all the proof you need.
