Fox News Ignores Male DV Victims and Pumps Up the Misandry... Again

Read it here.

"You might be surprised to learn that the most dangerous place for a woman in the United States is her own home. Domestic violence is the single biggest threat of injury to U.S. women — more than heart attacks, cancer, strokes, car accidents, muggings and rapes combined!"

---
Ed. note: This article is a couple months old, apparently; it is cited here in a comment dated 6/13/06. Still, it's a fine example of Fox's inability to see male DV victims.

I have seen this Fox analyst's name before attached to similar such rantings, too. Looks like she's a regular, and a law professor to boot. I can only imagine what being a man in one of her classes (or someone who dares speak the truth about DV in it) must be like.

More from the NY Times on Colleges and Women

An otherwise unremarkable review of an otherwise unremarkable book opens with a scathing taunt of the male sex in this review from the NY Times Book section. A wonderful little "nya nya nya" from another privileged recent college co-ed graduate whose father probably paid her way through whatever school she went to.

You know, I think the Times (as well as MSN for that matter) should just dispense with any pretense and set up their own "Nya nya nya we're made of sugar and spice and you nasty boys SUCK" subsite and put all their misandrist claptrap in one place rather than sneak it in via both sideways commentary and overt misstatements, lies, and distortions throughout their respective publications. That way the rest of us could just skip it entirely and go look for something decent to read.

"Women Behind Bars"

Typical news story about the rising rates of female jail offenders-- and of course how much harder it is on them than their male counterparts. Excerpt:

'Jackson's scenario is a fairly common one for incarcerated women, he said. Two-thirds of all women in state prisons are parents of minor children; many have substance abuse problems.

"It is illustrative of a lot of the problems with drug sentencing," King said.'

MSN Launches Men's Subsite

Stop the presses, can it be the sun has risen in the west and will set in the east? Check out http://men.msn.com/. Yes, you read that right. Now let's see just what kind of stuff they put there. Wonder if they will include any links to MRA-issues and -interests sites? Frankly I am not holding my breath, what with articles on back-hairiness and closet contents on the debut day.

Looks to me more like a site for women that is "supposed" to be for men... *sigh*... same claptrap, different day.

Leving and Sacks Take on "Single by Chance, Mothers by Choice"

This article written by Glenn Sacks and Jeffery M. Leving, discusses "Are single mothers the 'New American Family'"?

We all know that a father's role in parenting is vital, but some think differently. The title of the latest anti-father book is "Single by Chance, Mothers by Choice: How Women Are Choosing Parenthood Without Marriage and Creating the New American Family."

The only viable use for a book written by a Women's Studies professor is using the pages to line the cat's litter box. Gentleman, I'll give you a DISTURBING quote from this article citing the book:

'Hertz asserts that today the "core of family life is the mother and her children." Fathers aren't necessary – "only the availability of both sets of gametes [egg and sperm] is essential." In fact, Hertz explains, "what men offer today is obsolete."'

Maybe you'd like to e-mail her (rhertze-at-wellesley.edu) and have her define "misandry".

Stat Rape and Supplying Drugs Buys Female Teacher One Year in Jail

Story here.

And she does not have to register as a sex offender.
What would a man have received? Letters can be sent to letters-at-uniontrib.com. Excerpt:

"“I really believe that you are a good person. I believe that what you did was very wrong,” Brown said.

The judge ordered Walls not to have any contact with the victim, but did not require her to register as a sex offender.

Walls pleaded guilty on July 26 to four felony charges of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for providing the student drugs and alcohol."

Article on False Rape Allegation on College Campuses

This article by Eugene J. Kanin, Ph.D. gives an excellent overview of false rape accusations. As a college student they try and convince us (most are convinced) that 1 in 4 women will be victims of a sexual crime by graduation.

Let's do some math: Syracuse University has approx. 18,000 students. 55 percent are female (almost 10,000 women). The 1 in 4 theory suggests 2500 women will be a victim of sexual assault by graduation. Are you kidding me? 2500! Completely ABSURD.

"These false allegations appear to serve three major functions for the complainants: providing an alibi, seeking revenge, and obtaining sympathy and attention."

Sacks and McCormick: Shared Parenting Initiative Helps Women, Too

Glen Sacks and Mike McCormick discuss how Shared Parenting initiatives also helps women. The story includes testimony from feminists (thats right feminists) who agree with Sacks. Unfortunatley the two women only mention "shared parenting" and the postive effects it has on mothers. even though they fail to mention the benifits for men, any support is vital

"While many women's advocates have taken a misguided stand against shared parenting, there is a significant, outspoken minority which recognizes its benefits for women."

Less Men = Equality, Less Women = Travesty

A recent human-rights ruling in Canada found that barring two twin girls from trying out for a boy's hockey team is discriminatory. Since the ruling the girls have tried out and didn't make the cut.

According to this article as a result of the ruling there have been cases of boys attempting to try out for the girl's teams.

The final paragraph of the article quotes the executive director of the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association as saying:

"Everything that our organization has done … is based gender-equal. And if we all of a sudden get an influx of males participating, it could affect female participation and that would be a travesty."

Wendy McElroy: Confronting Male Suicide

Wendy McElroy exposes aspects of male suicide that receives virtually no national attention. She also mentions child custody hearings and the tragic effect it has on men: "As far as the [divorced] man is concerned, he has lost his marriage and lost his children and that can lead to depression and suicide," Kposow advises."

"If a similar rise in female suicides was occurring, a public crusade would demand a remedy. Yet the extraordinarily high rate of male suicide is rarely discussed."

Why Johnny Can't Read: Schools Favor Girls

This article makes several good points regarding schools being more "girl friendly".

"But a new study finds that the problem cuts across socioeconomic lines and pins part of the blame on schools, whose techniques cater to the strengths of girls and leave boys utterly disinterested."

-- combined posts from same submitter ---

This article suggests boys are better off with home schooling. It makes perfect sense considering boys are the "second" sex in the public school environment.

Diane J Hulse:

"Research shows that American elementary school classrooms have a female orientation and a feminine inclination."

"In a boys’ school, boys seem to have more options available to them as they define their own masculinity."

Trial opens for Fla. teen accused of enlisting her boyfriend to kill her father

If nothing else, one should keep in mind when reading this: never judge a book by its cover. Excerpt:

“What is in dispute at a trial this week in Seminole County Circuit Court is the role the victim's own daughter played in the brutal slaying. Authorities allege that 16-year-old Courtney Schulhoff was the cold, calculating mastermind of the murder, giving her older lover the bat, pointing him toward the bedroom where her father slept and opening a celebratory beer afterward.

While she is not accused of physically participating in the assault that left her father, Steve, 48, dead, she faces the same charge as Morin: first-degree murder. A conviction means a mandatory life sentence. Morin will be tried separately next month.”

RADAR ALERT: Reports Attract Media Interest; Now Time to Recharge RADAR’s Batteries

Dear Friends of RADAR (Respecting Accuracy in Domestic Abuse Reporting):

As you may be aware, RADAR has been circulating reports, press releases, and flyers in an effort to tell the complete story about domestic violence, with a special emphasis on the effectiveness of the Violence Against Women Act, and the entire set of facts re domestic violence (DV).

We hope to make the public aware that, in the name of DV prevention, gender-based discrimination and governmental violations of the Bill of Rights have become commonplace, and that DV law and policy must be modified to prevent these abuses.

These reports have attracted widespread media attention. Reporters have called for interviews, and one state legislator has already contacted RADAR asking for recommended language to revise his state’s DV law.

While we have made fair progress with limited resources, we wish to spread the word to a wider universe with a little more energy. But this will be expensive, and we need to request your financial help.

NHL star Tie Domi is being taken to the cleaners by estranged wife

He offered her a settlement of more money then most people make in a lifetime, but she wants it all and it looks like she's going to get it. Check out the details of the 'temporary' agreement that has been reached here.

The really sad part is that he might end up being taken to the cleaners again if the rumours are true that he is currently in a relationship with turncoat (former conservative, now liberal) MP Belinda Stronach. She has had plenty of her share of controversy. A quick Google of her name reveals plenty for those interested.
