A judicial inquiry into a woman who:
- was out on bail pending her trial for murder
- had a record of child abuse complaints against her
- eventually committed murder/suicide by walking into the ocean and drowning with her son
... is somehow a victim of "substandard child protection practices".
"It is evident that substandard child protection practices contributed to the outcome of Zachary Turner's murder and the mother's suicide," Ms. Neville told a news conference after delivering the report.

A woman who killed her husband has had her legal battle for a widow's pension dismissed by the Court of Appeal. She stabbed her husband, a retired police officer, to death, and was sentenced to only two years in prison. I believe she may have been released after one year. She then applied to the government for a widow's pension. The judge has had the good sense to refuse, but still described her as a 'decent, hard-working woman'. Amazing. Story here.

Looks like college students are finally beginning to do something to show their disaffection with the many ethno-genderal interest clubs that openly proclaim their proud affiliation with any group of people except whites, men, or both. Clip on CNN.com is here (embedded video). To note is that membership isn't restricted to white men only, in the same way other college campus groups can't restrict membership based on gender or ethnicity. My only reservation about it is the ethnic issue, since men's issues are men's issues first and foremost But I suppose including it may be unavoidable in terms of making a statement, in that there are generalized men's groups already on college campuses but these are usually affiliated with feminist goals, groups, or their inclinations.
In any case, these people are making a strong statement around the idea of "equal time and consideration" that college administrators at ASU and on other campuses should hearken to.

Here it is. Exceprt:
'Every few years, a report that women are gaining ground prompts panicky articles proclaiming that "men are falling behind!"
Don't get me wrong: I believe in equality for all. I'm concerned about women's status and I'm concerned about the race, ethnicity and income divisions revealed in the Department of Education survey.'

Story here. Excerpt:
'WABASH, Ind. -- A judge ordered that a man who has failed to pay child support must spend his days sitting in a county building's lobby under a sign reading "I don't support my kids."
Wabash Circuit Judge Robert McCallen III said he imposed the sentence against Michael Booth, 33, of Wabash not as a special punishment, but to avoid adding to the overcrowding of the county jail.'

Essay by Richard Doyle is here. Excerpt:
'I have long suggested a philosophy meeting that criteria: “To preserve the traditional nuclear family through restoration of equal dignity and equal (not identical) rights under the law for all male persons across a broad spectrum of life, including divorce, employment, health and crime punishment.” Anything essentially similar to this will do. I ask leaders of the major men’s/fathers’ organizations to respond to me with comments, pro and con.'

Good clip here (embedded video) from CNN.com on men and testosterone levels changing as we age. Also pleasing is the non-taunting, matter-of-fact way things are presented without the usual misandrist sideways jabs. And, it has good advice for helping with this age-induced state.

'LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Kim Basinger will go to trial after pleading not guilty Wednesday to disregarding court orders concerning ex-husband Alec Baldwin's visitation rights with their daughter, a court official ordered.
Court papers filed by Baldwin allege that in 2005, the Academy Award-winning actress ignored court orders by not letting her ex-husband know she would be out of town working so that he could take care of their 10-year-old daughter until she returned.'

"The debate about how to get women more involved in gaming is a perennial one and one on which there is pretty wide agreement that not enough is being done."
Another bizarre story from the BBC femi-socialist propaganda machine. Apparently the 'male-dominated' computer games industry is not doing enough to make women feel included. Apparently "There needs to be changes across the board."(sic)
However, even the author admits that this story is a complete non-issue.
"There is evidence to suggest that, despite the obstacles, young girls carry on playing games. Research done by gaming firm Electronic Arts' found that 40% of teenage girls played video games but, crucially, they seem to lose interest within a year."
Well there you have it then. Girls who want to play computer games play them, and those who don't, don't. End of story.

OTTAWA — The federal Conservative government says it will no longer fund women's groups that do advocacy, lobbying or general research, leaving some to wonder what's left.
The drastic change to the mandate and operation of Status of Women Canada also drops the word "equality" when listing the agency's goals.

The typical female chauvinist crap is repeated here about how violence is only a man's problem.
Yet, other headlines today revealed that violence is not so much a "man's problem". Here where a woman killed her husband's 13 month old baby son while awaiting extradition to return to the U.S. to face a murder charge for killing her husband. Nice.
Also look here, where a woman killed her husband's 1-year-old and 3-year-old daughters because she was involved in a custody dispute with him. Notice how the article paints the woman as "desperate" "reaching out" and "let down" by the system.
I wonder if the police chief from London, Ontario is aware that violence is not a "man's problem", but a societal problem? Not likely. He, acting as the female mayor's lapdog, seems to be just repeating the female chauvinist lies that the female mayor wants to hear.

Story here. Send it on to your favorite feminist!
'A woman was charged Wednesday with sexual assault after an altercation with a flight attendant on an airplane flying from Charlotte, N.C., to London, an official said.
.
.
"During the altercation, she grabbed his buttocks," Bruce said, adding that he based that information on police reports.
When the airplane landed at Gatwick Airport, Sussex police charged the woman with disrupting a flight and sexual assault, Bruce said.'

More from the sugar 'n spice dept., this latest is here. Notice the sex of the perps isn't mentioned in the headline and also not until close to the end of the article. Excerpt:
'The woman, 23, had her head slammed into her car, causing her left eye to be swollen shut. She also suffered cuts, bruises and abrasions. Her injuries sent her to the hospital, where she was released Thursday night, the Herald reported.
During the attacks, the woman's 10-month-old son was in the car's back seat.
Police interviewed and released two teenage girls, ages 17 and 18, who could face assault charges.
A 15-year-old girl, believed to be involved in the second attack, was arrested.'

Some of you may remember the case mentioned in this previous MANN piece. The follow-up to it is that the man's son was just found guilty of murder, or at least the juvenile equivalent of it. Story here.

Article about a nurse who killed 10 people. No comments on my part....just a news story. Excerpt:
'FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- A former hospital nurse pleaded no contest Tuesday to killing 10 patients nearly six years ago by injecting them with a drug used to temporarily halt breathing.
Vickie Dawn Jackson, 40, will be sentenced to life in prison, the maximum sentence she faced if she had been convicted by a jury.
Authorities have not offered a motive for the slayings.'
