"In October, the United Nations (UN) released its much-anticipated Secretary-General's Study on Violence Against Women (SVAW) - a global overview and update on the issue. The SVAW is a lumbering 139-page behemoth of a document that is embarrassingly inaccurate, ideological and biased against men."
"SVAW stresses that psychological neglect or abuse and lack of medical care are forms of violence against women. But, worldwide, men are 3.5 times as likely to commit suicide and their life expectancy is lower than women's"

Story here. So girls can still play on boys' teams, but not vice versa. Excerpt:
"MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A state appeals court on Thursday rejected a lawsuit by a boy who wanted to compete on his high school's girls' gymnastics team.
The District 4 Court of Appeals upheld a judge's dismissal of Keith Michael Bukowski's lawsuit against the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, which has a rule prohibiting boys from competing in girls' sports."

The men's rights movement does exist in India. The sheer volume of population can give an idea that India is likely to have more men's rights activists then Australia in spite of the fact that the feminists have started to hit-and-bat at will only from year 2000 onwards.
Only a feminist can make dating allowance seem like a crime the link to this is here.
But unfortunately for her the MRAs were available and the reaction was swift in a day with SIF and Asha-kiran; it made front page news.
The first case of Domestic violence in India and it is proved to have been misused.

The situation in the UK continues to get worse. Check this story out.
Courts should go easy on women who kill abusive partners, a review of the laws on murder said yesterday.
Women who kill in cold blood can escape the mandatory life sentence imposed for the crime if they prove they were "provoked" by fear of domestic violence.
But the plan, delivered to ministers yesterday by the Government's law reform advisers, says that men who kill wives or girlfriends in anger over betrayal or family break-up should get more severe treatment.
So much for sexual equality.

The Telegraph asks: "Are the courts automatically biased towards mothers, even if they may not be the more suitable parent? What steps can be taken to force mothers to provide fathers with the necessary contact with their children?
Is there too much of a focus on a father's responsibility to make alimony payments, and not enough on his right to visit his child?
How do you think Britain compares to other countries in the way that it handles the rights of separated parents?
Has the adversarial approach to divorce law turned children into the spoils of marriage?"
The response from readers is absolutely overwhemling.
One day, a politician will catch on, offer equal rights to fathers in divorce, and scoop an election.

Found this in the Australian (Sydney) MX News, a daily newspaper given away free to all commuters each day in Sydney. It's the drum I've been banging on about for ages, so really pleased to see it in at least a form of mainstream press.
QUOTE:
TITLE: TV Turns men into monsters, by Matt Sun
The portrayal of men on current affairs television has turned the average Australian male from goofy bloke to evil predator.
University of Western Sydney media researcher Dr Jim Macnamara said years of seeing images of men being shown as evil was influencing young boys, who either abandon men as role models or try to live up to the stereotype.
A six month study revealed 69 percent of reports on men were unfavourable - only 12 percent were favourable.
"Some recurring themes in media content portrayed men as violent, sexually abusive, unable to be trusted with children, deadbeat dads or commitment-phobic, and in need of reconstruction," he said.

Here's another update on our favorite female fire chief.
"A city panel recommended Tuesday that officials fire Bonnie Bleskachek, the nation's first openly lesbian big-city fire chief, in the wake of firefighter lawsuits accusing her of harassment and discrimination."
"Three female firefighters have sued, alleging various acts of discrimination and sexual harassment. Two of the lawsuits were settled, but this month a male firefighter brought another lawsuit alleging he was denied advancement because he is male and not gay."

Story here.
China Arnold, 26, was jailed Monday on a charge of aggravated murder, more than a year after she brought her dead month-old baby to a hospital.
"China - as a mother and a person - was horrified that such an act could occur," her attorney said.
Arnold has three other children.
In 2000, a Virginia woman was sentenced to five years in prison for killing her month-old son in a microwave oven. Elizabeth Renee Otte claimed she had no memory of cramming her son in the microwave and turning on the appliance in 1999. Experts said that Otte suffered from epilepsy and that her seizures were followed by blackouts.
I KNOW IT'S SO CLICHE, BUT IF YOU'LL NOTICE THE LAST PARAGRAPH, I REALLY HAVE TO WONDER IF THERE HAS EVER BEEN ANY WOMEN THAT HAS EVER BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR HER ACTIONS....

From Revenue Canada's web site:
"The Canada Child Tax Benefit is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help them with the cost of raising children under age 18."
Just one catch... If you're a man, you need to get a note from the child's mom before you can even apply.
From the application form (.pdf file):
"[W]hen both a male and a female parent live in the same home as the child, we presume that the female parent is primarily responsible for the child and should apply, unless a note from the female parent is attached to this application that states that the male parent is primarily responsible for the child."
Imagine the uproar we'd hear if women were forced to get a note from men so that they collect on a government run program.
I haven't looked into it, but I wonder who gets the Child Tax Benefit if the parents have split custody? I think I know the answer, but it would be interesting to find out.

Apparently waiting for a male to get out of adolescence is too much patience to expect from certain "law enforcers" before torturing him to death for being "uncooperative". Seems inmate abuse is an age-adjusted equal-opportunity activity, particularly when it comes to males. Read it here. Excerpt:
"A second autopsy by Dr. Vernard Adams, the medical examiner for Hillsborough County, found Anderson's death was caused by suffocation due to the actions of the guards.
He said the suffocation was caused by hands blocking the boy's mouth, as well as the "forced inhalation of ammonia fumes" that caused his vocal cords to spasm, blocking Anderson's upper airway."
