Brigham woman will serve up to 5 years for killing husband

Story here.

Initially charged with first-degree felony murder she pleaded guilty in September to second-degree felony manslaughter. Is it just me, or did she almost get away with murder (5 years?)

"Her attorney, Ronald Nichols, urged the judge to be lenient because Vickie Ruiz was under the impression that the .22-caliber handgun could not kill a person."

"She blamed alcohol for her rash actions, but then continued to party with friends, including a boyfriend, and seemed overly interested in how much insurance money she would get, her daughter told the judge. "To this day, she is still causing heartache and distress," Sherry Ruiz said."

RADAR ALERT: Truth and Consequences Campaign Reaches Over 2 Million

The Truth and Consequences campaign involved a high-intensity, coordinated nationwide effort that involved 62 organizations over a 21-week period. The campaign ran from June 19 to November 17, 2006.

The campaign was designed to reach political candidates, the media, professionals who work in the DV field, the public at large, and other groups. It is conservatively estimated that over 2 million persons were reached during the course of the campaign.

The theme of the campaign, Truth and Consequences: Election 2006, was designed to highlight the urgent need for elected officials and the American public to understand the truth about domestic violence, and to appreciate the harmful consequences of biased domestic violence laws on American families and children.

The campaign also included a “mini-campaign” regarding the United Nations’ Study on Violence Against Women.

Particularly strong efforts were mounted in California, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. Campaign activities included the following:

Draft Bill to be Introduced

Story here.

File it under "Draft Watch 2007". The previous introduced bill (back in 2005) stipulated an abolishment of the male-only draft and military-only assignment of duties in favor of a "National Service" program wherein people of both sexes would be subject to induction and assignment to military or "other occupations". Guess we'll just have to see what January brings. My guess is it will be the same, with of course the unspoken, tacit assumption that it will be men moved into military/combat roles with women moved into something else, possibly domestic law enforcement or related.

Studies Investigate Female Sex Offenders

Story here.

"Boys who are victims of female sex offenders, though, seem to receive less sympathy from friends, family and the public, who often look at having sex with an older woman as a conquest."

"Maston added that the male victims often think, "'(Am I) going to be in trouble? And, because they are the male, 'Is there something wrong with me?' 'Are they going to complain because they didn't like it?'"

"Often, young victims of these offenders do have difficulties, (including) depression, suicide attempts, drug use," Lewis said. "Those are things that can happen."

NYPD: Women Terrorists Real Threat

Article here.

"The NYPD is warning business owners to be on the lookout for female jihadists who can hide explosives by faking pregnancy or sweet-talk their way past security officers".

"What this means is that we don't have the luxury of ignoring 50% of our population in assessing whether someone is a threat," Weiner said.

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Nov. 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Angelo Lobo, producer of "Support? System Down" will be arriving in Syracuse today, Nov. 16, to film John Murtari, founder of AKidsRight.org, in the Onondaga County Justice Center, on his 108th day with no solid food.

"John's story is special in that he has taken a stand against a system that desperately needs reform, on a national level," said Lobo, "He is a voice for thousands who are being incarcerated against their constitutional rights."

Murtari, 50, an Air Force Academy graduate, was sentenced to six months incarceration for willful failure to pay child support, a charge he disputes. Inspired by Gandhi, Murtari started the parents' organization AKidsRight.org and has been advocating for a Family Rights Act.

THE GYM "GRUNTER" STRIKES BACK
Grunter Retains Counsel; Intends to Wage Legal Battle

After being unceremoniously expelled from his Planet Fitness Gym for "grunting", New York orrectional Officer Al Argibay is fighting back. He has retained prominent New York civil rights attorney Jason Stern to represent him.

"This is the most absurd thing that I have ever seen," says Stern, who happens to be a former competitive bodybuilder. "Grunting is an involuntary breathing reaction to lifting heavy eights -- much like gasping for breath when running on the treadmill at a high rate of speed. To throw someone out of the gym or "breathing loudly" is ridiculous. If they don't want people "grunting", why does Planet Fitness have heavy weights? My client was squatting 500lbs. Show me someone who can squat 500 lbs without grunting and I'll show you a woman who can give birth to a baby in silence. It's pretty much impossible."

Wendy McElroy: Audio Interview

I found a presentation by Wendy McElroy delivered to the National Coalation Of Free Men. The speech was given in 2002. I feel her comments are still relevant today regarding our issues as M.R.A's. I thought the speech was outstanding.

When you enter the site look for the following info to listen to her presentation:

"AUDIO Scrapping NOW: Time to Redefine Feminism (39 minutes, offsite link to 4.7 MB MP3 file), or read the transcript. Delivered for the National Coalition of Free Men, St. Paul, MN, 21 June 2002."

Doctors Opposing Circumcision

Article here.

This article, though not recent, offers information regarding the tragic affect circumcision has on some infant boys. The article also explains MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), an infection I never knew existed.

WARNING: SOME OF THE PHOTOS ARE VERY DISTURBING!!!!!!

"Doctors Opposing Circumcision consistently has advised parents that genital integrity (non-circumcision) is most likely to produce the highest state of health and well-being and is the preferred medical option for newborn boys. The arrival of community MRSA in epidemic proportions adds additional force to that recommendation."

Australia: Boys Education Becomes Priority

Story here.

I believe the U.S is woefully behind other nations when it comes to the educational needs of boys. When searching for articles regarding boys/education, I find very few from the States. It seems England, and now Australia might be the nations that start a needed revolution to educate our sons. I wonder what Australian feminist Germaine Greer thinks of this new educational initiative?

"A $19.4 million Australian Government initiative called Success For Boys aims to change all that in 1600 schools by 2008 - and four schools in the NSW Blue Mountains will be among the first to implement it."

"Success For Boys works on a number of fronts, including teachers' professional development, producing and sharing successful teaching and assessment strategies to take more advantage of boys' interests and strengths and developing male mentoring systems"

RADAR ALERT: Take 60 Seconds, Save the World from a VAWA Melt-Down!

Last month the UN issued its Study on Violence Against Women. The study recommends that every country around the world enact VAWA-like laws: http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/vaw.

Of course the UN feminists hoped the UN Third Committee would immediately “welcome” the Study so they could get on with the job. But thanks to your e-mails, phone calls, and faxes, the proposal has been delayed.

Now, time is running out – the UN Third Committee needs to reach a decision by this coming Wednesday, November 22. That’s the date when the committee wraps up its session.

So this is it folks! This is our last shot! Let’s not hold anything back!

Sorry Kim, Wendy is Correct

Gloatfest here.

"Concerned Women for America President Wendy Wright (second in line as official woman-hater right after the Coultergeist, of course) reliably responded: "Single women tend to trend Democrat. They usually rely more on government than married women."

But Kim Fights Back:

"...are in line to replace House Republican (and mostly white male) chairs of committees and subcommittees, and gain integral influence over legislation, budgets, programs and services important to women. How great is this?"
