Winkler case: Prosecution rests with testimony of preacher's daughter

Story here. Excerpt:

'SELMER, Tennessee (AP) -- Prosecutors rested their case against a preacher's wife accused of murdering her husband with the heartbreaking testimony of the couple's 9-year-old daughter.
...
She told Tennessee authorities that her husband criticized her for "the way I walk, what I eat, everything. It was just building up to this point. I was just tired of it. I guess I just got to a point and snapped."

Brandy Jones, who described Mary Winkler as her best friend, said Monday she never saw any evidence of physical or emotional abuse. She had dinner with the Winklers a month before Matthew was shot, and the couple seemed happy, Jones said.
...
Earlier Monday, a forensic pathologist testified that Matthew Winkler was killed by a shotgun blast in the middle of his back; 77 pellets were removed from his body.
...
The prosecution has said the Winklers were in financial trouble and that bank managers were closing in on a check-kiting scheme that Mary Winkler wanted to conceal from her husband.'

Study finds women don't really work more than men

Article here.

There's a common belief that women work more than men because in addition to their jobs, they do most of the housework. This study found that while women do more work at home, averaged together men and women do on average the same hours of work per week. Of course it doesn't point out the obvious, that more hours on home-work and less on market-work means lower income.

American Airlines Has Women-Only Site

That's right, you read that correctly. The news is reported here. The special sub-site is here. Excerpt:

'CHICAGO, Illinois (Reuters) -- American Airlines, the world's largest airline, says it can boost revenue by $94 million a year by tailoring some of its services to the growing number of women travelers.

The airline, a unit of AMR Corp., this week unveiled a version of its Web site for women (http://www.aa.com/women). The site aims to increase the number of women booking flights on American by 2 percent or more, said an AMR executive on Tuesday.

The site, as well as changes to American's planes and travel clubs, is the latest effort by a U.S. airline to distinguish itself in a competitive industry that has spent the last five years slashing costs and tweaking services.'

Women ogle more than men do - it's a fact!

News.com.au reports here on what we guys have always suspected and women have always strenuously denied - WOMEN OGLE MEN MORE OFTEN THAN MEN OGLE THEM!

Excerpt:
"WOMEN are more prone to ogling than men despite the widespread belief they are less focused on the physical, a study suggests.
Scientists used eye-tracking technology to pinpoint what people looked at when shown a series of sexy photos. They expected women to be more interested in faces, and men in genitals.

To their surprise, they found almost the reverse was true. Men were more likely than women to linger on the face before diverting their attention to other parts of the body. But women spent longer poring over images of couples performing sexual acts."

So next time you hear a woman accusing guys of always starting at women's breasts, just throw this fact in..!

"That Night at Duke"

So Newsweek finally writes about what really happened. They had an entire year to do so; they only just got around to it now. Excerpt:

'Seligmann found the stereotyping especially painful. Recruited by Harvard and Yale, he had proudly chosen Duke. Now he was being portrayed, at least by implication, as a dumb jock. Some elements of the Duke community, like the girls' lacrosse team, rallied behind the players, but the faculty seemed to write them off as racists and thugs. "It was a very lonely feeling," Seligmann recalled. "You were looking for people to step up and be behind you when you most needed them. Certain people weren't there."'

Yep-- and you, Newsweek, may count yourself among them. But you are in good ocmpany; the rest of the MSM, academe, and the government all fall into that camp.

More Winkler Case Details Emerging

Looks like Mary Winkler had a problem with check-kiting in addition to having her "ugly come out" enough to murder her husband. I suspect by the end of this trial a lot of pretty ugly things about Mary Winkler will surface. Let's see if justice gets done. Story here. Excerpt:

'SELMER, Tennessee (CNN) -- The day before a Tennessee preacher was shot to death, a banker tried to reach his wife several times about an account in her name that was nearly $5,000 overdrawn, a corporate fraud investigator testified Saturday.

When Mary Winkler finally returned the calls to Regions Bank late in the afternoon on March 21, 2006, banker Mary Guest told her she was unable to deposit checks from another bank because there weren't enough funds to cover them.

"I told her what she was doing was called kiting checks," Guest testified she told Winkler.

Guest testified she told Winkler the practice could result in criminal charges, and reminded Winkler that she and her husband had an appointment at the bank the following morning to discuss the problem.'

Teacher Punishes Boys With Haircut, Pink Bows

Story here. Excerpt:

Another article supporting the fact that boys are treated like animals in the education system. These female teachers must have taken many women studies courses. What better way to abuse a boy than humiliating him with pink bows. Sickening! Excerpt:

"Debbie Hackman's son, Caleb, was one of two boys who came home from school this week with a new haircut -– and the barber was the boys’ teacher at Milan Elementary School.

According to students, fourth-grade teacher Jennifer Blockman punished the boys by tying pink bows in their hair and cutting their hair in front of the class."

Clinton gladly plays the gender card

Story here. Excerpt:

"Armed with mounting evidence that women are providing her a strong foundation in the crucial early months of the run-up to next year's primaries, Clinton's campaign is trying to organize almost every aspect of the Democratic women's voting bloc — including lining up the support of feminist elites and stoking excitement in teenage political neophytes.
...
"Now is the time to break the biggest glass ceiling in the land," a beaming Clinton said last week after her endorsement by the National Organization for Women's political action committee, one of several influential women's activist groups that have rushed to endorse her campaign."

Mary Winkler: "My ugly came out"

Story here.

Mary Winkler testifies, "my ugly came out". Apparently after years of marital strife she just had had enough and murdered her husband. She never though to get counseling maybe, or just do what millions of other women do: just leave the guy? Perhaps she murdered him knowing that somehow she would do better financially after she did a couple years but wrote a best-selling book about it. Excerpt:

'Investigators have said she admitted shooting her husband on March 22, 2006, and that it had something to do with his constant criticism. On the tape, she says the couple's domestic problems had reached a boiling point after many years of conflict.
...
Winkler told Alabama Bureau of Investigation agent Stan Stabler on the tape that her husband had threatened her physically. "He said something that really scared me. I don't know, something life-threatening," she said, without elaborating further.

A woman's false accusations are "evidence in itself"

More nonsensical reactions to the Duke scandal from a public official. (Link goes to page two of article, where this gem can be found - emphasis mine):

"I think the district attorney went to the grand jury far sooner than he should have. If the district attorney had waited and gathered more information and tried to understand it, I think he would have had a better understanding of what the case was, and what is was not. On the other hand, he did have someone that said she was sexually assaulted, and that creates evidence in itself." — Lewis Cheek, Durham County commissioner who lent his name to a campaign last November to unseat Nifong

A potentially false accusation not supported by any actual evidence (and with a 41% chance of being a lie) is "evidence in itself"? When is a man's word ever considered "evidence", particularly regarding crimes where the accuser has been shown to be lying nearly half the time?

Violence against guardians an 'alarming trend'

Story here. Excerpt:

'In one pending case from northwest Harris County, a 16-year-old girl is being held on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly shooting her stepfather in the head; the man, a financial consultant, survived.
...
When her mother, a teacher, drew the line at the boyish attire, the fighting got worse and and the girl started running away. Her stepfather took charge of the discipline, and then, about 4 a.m. on Feb. 16, the girl shot him three times as he lay with her mother in bed, Field said.

"She snapped," Field said, adding that the teen confessed to authorities a few hours after the incident.

Her stepfather still has a bullet lodged in the back of his head.'

Teen mother brutally murders newborn

Story here. Excerpt:

'A 17-year-old stabbed her newborn baby 135 times and disposed of her body in a garbage can outside her home in Oakdale, authorities alleged Thursday.

Nicole Marie Beecroft was charged Thursday with first-degree murder. The charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. She was being held in a juvenile detention facility. Bail was set at $1 million on Friday afternoon.

"She kills the baby and now her life will be changed forever," Washington County Attorney Doug Johnson said.

The Tartan High School senior told police she was in a "panic state" after giving birth to the girl on the floor of the laundry room in her home around 3 a.m. Monday, according to the criminal complaint filed in Washington County District Court. She told police she had seen the baby's finger move, and admitted stabbing the child, the complaint said.'

"panic state"-- Oh yes, I guess then we should be sympathetic then and just give it a pass.

"Equality and a man's right to choose"

Opinion column at the Cavalier, a student(?) paper at University of Virginia. The article can be found here. The author of the piece is Alexander Cohen, who presents some interesting arguments in support of C4M. I shall be interested to see any response letters.

Perhaps Men's/Father's rights are so far out of favor with the powers-that-be as to become interesting to the student population, traditional espousers of "fringe" causes. Or perhaps we have here another example of a young man awakening.

In any case, the column is interesting and perhaps offers some useful arguments.

CNN's Martin: Imus might be spark for debate on sexism?

Essay here. Excerpt:

"Now is the time for this nation to undergo a direct examination of the depths of sexism. My media colleagues shouldn't go just for the easy target rap lyrics. That is no doubt a logical next step, but sexism is so much deeper. It is embedded in our churches, synagogues, mosques, schools, Fortune 500 companies and in the political arena. We should target our resources to this issue and raise the consciousness of people, and expose the reality."

Moran Blog: "Don't Feel Too Sorry for the Dukies"

Blog here. EXCERPT:
"The three young men who she accused are truly innocent of the charges brought against them according to the North Carolina Attorney General and the investigation led by his office. But perhaps the outpouring of sympathy for Reade Seligman, Collin Finnerty and David Evans is just a bit misplaced."

THIS IS THE TYPICAL LIBERAL WHITE MALE "WUSSIE-POOPIE" TYPE OF FEMINIST LAP-DOG ARTICLE, BUT READ THE COMMENTS BELOW, THEY ARE MUCH MORE ON TARGET.
