Carey Roberts: Senator Biden's VAWA Cover-Up

Article here. Excerpt:

'Amidst the hoopla surrounding Sen. Joseph Biden's ascendancy to the right hand of Barack Obama, something was curiously missing. Over the last 15 years, Biden has repeatedly bragged to his friends and colleagues, "What I'm most proud of in my entire career is the Violence Against Women Act." So why no mention of his legislative pride-and-joy amidst the flurry of text messages, press releases, and staged public appearances?

The answer is, VAWA has become something of an embarrassment to the good senator.
...
Forget everything you learned in your high school civics class about due process, innocent until proven guilty, and equal treatment under law. VAWA-inspired laws have carved out an Alice-in-Wonderland world in our legal system in which any partner disagreement qualifies as domestic "violence," in which persons never qualify "offender" with the word "alleged," and in which a person so accused can seldom restore his good name.'

Denise Harvey gets 30 years for having sex with teen

Story here. Excerpt:

'Denise Harvey, 40, of Vero Beach, was sentenced to 30 years in state prison for having sex with a 16-year-old who was a high school friend and baseball teammate her son's.
...
Before sentencing she asked the court for mercy. Meadows requested a non-jail sentence of community control.

Vaughn — at the urging of prosecutors — ruled her guilty of having sex with the 16-year-old five times during high school baseball season in 2006. The judge sentenced her to 15 years for each offense. But only two of the terms will be served consecutively, one after the other. The other three will be served at the same time as the others.'

Bounty hunter to revoke Casey Anthony's bond

Story here. Excerpt:

'A bounty hunter said Thursday that he will revoke the bond of a Florida woman suspected in the disappearance of her toddler daughter as new evidence suggests the possibility of a sad outcome in the case.

A law enforcement source with knowledge of the case told CNN affiliate WKMG reporter Jessica D'Onofrio that DNA evidence had matched a strand of hair found in the trunk of a car linked to Casey Anthony with her daughter, Caylee.

On Wednesday, a law enforcement source close to the investigation told CNN investigators have also found chemical evidence of human decomposition in the trunk.'

UK: An article that actually states that boys should be treated as boys not girls

Article here. Excerpt:

"Boys stink. In the past 50 years their reputation has plummeted. In the 21st century they are seen as bad, mad or sad. T-shirts for little girls say “Perfect Princess”, their brothers' say, “Bad Boy”
...
Everyone does them down. The only advertisements about boys are for washing powder. When a primary school in Cornwall discovered that its reception year contained only boys, the teacher was treated as a heroine for taking them on.
...
...They don't necessarily need a male teacher, but they do need one who understands the importance of exercise as much as empathy.

The 1950s got it right. Boys like hanging around in groups analysing motors rather than emotions and then coming back for a hug with their mother. They need hobbies such as sailing, fishing, football, cycling and surfing to focus them, or they will end up feeling redundant. They prefer missions that don't just include tidying up their room.'

British towns are designed for men, and exclude women?

Story here. Except:

'A study by Cambridge University says planning projects and urban regeneration schemes tend to cater to men better than women, despite the two living their lives differently.

Travel is one example. Studies show women make more complex journeys than men, dropping children off at school, going to work, getting the shopping before going home.

In contrast, men tend to just travel straight to work and back again.'

If you read the article, it basically states that towns are failing women because:

-Not enough public transport
-Not enough schools and creches near workplaces, which restricts where they can work
-Not safe enough at night - they worry about their safety when on foot
-Not enough lighting at night
-Not enough public toilets
-Parks are for sports, when women (apparently) want ponds and ducks

Casey Anthony Offered Conditional Immunity

Story here. Excerpt:

'Results taken from air samples reveal that a body was decomposing in the trunk of a car driven by the mother of missing Florida toddler Caylee Anthony, a local TV station reported.
...
Anthony has been offered a conditional immunity deal by authorities if she helps with the search, MYFOXOrlando.com reported, but she only has until Thursday to accept the deal, which is contingent upon concrete information that leads to the discovery of Caylee or her remains.'

------
2:55 PM Update: Looks like the bounty hunter who had posted her bail is relenting. The price of nymphotropism indeed... that, and a dead little girl coupled with an absence of justice makes for yet another textbook case of it.

DNC Convention Speech: Hillary Lies Twice in One Sentence

Hillary Clinton was able to include two lies in one sentence Tuesday night as she criticised John McCain in her speech to the Democratic National Convention. She said, "And in 2008, he still thinks it’s okay when women don’t earn equal pay for equal work."

Lie number one is that John McCain believes that it is OK that women don't earn the same as men do for the same work. McCain may not support affirmative action programs that give women an advantage in education and employment, but I really doubt that he supports pay discrimination against women.

Lie number two is her assumption that in 2008, men actually do earn more than women for equal work. Her lie is based on a study that shows that working women, on average, take home less money than working men. Factors, such as seniority, education, and the difficulty or the scarcity of workers, are not considered in the study. Careful analysis of the study has shown that there is really no wage discrimination against women when all these factors are considered.

Ditto: Woman Accused Of Teen Sex Sentenced On Lesser Charge

Again, we see that prosecutors readily offer bargain deals to women who sexually assault boys, but throw the book at men who do the same to girls. Sexual Assault is bargained down to child abuse in this article...no comment on what the sentence will be. You would think that someone who had to be extradited from one state to another would receive a fair sentence.

Someone please post any article...any article...on a man who received the same type of deal!! Excerpt:

'BATTLE CREEK, Neb. -- A woman accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy will be sentenced for a lesser charge in October.

Tammy Walnofer was originally charged with first-degree sexual assault for an incident from 2005.

Last week, she pleaded no contest to felony child abuse.'

Feminism Past and Present

A recent lecture on the history of feminism and the suffragist movement, delivered by Camille Paglia. A relatively more objective (and less fawning) account that should make an interesting and informative read for MRAs. Excerpt:

'My final recommendation for reform is a massive rollback of the paternalistic system of grievance committees and other meddlesome bureaucratic contrivances which have turned American college campuses into womblike customer-service resorts. The feminists of my baby-boom generation fought to tear down the intrusive in loco parentis rules that insultingly confined women in their dormitories at night. College administrators and academic committees have no competence whatever to investigate crimes, including sexual assault. If an offense has been committed, it should be reported to the police, so that the civil liberties of both the accuser and the accused can be protected.'
