'LONDON — The British government wants to make it illegal to pay for sex and is considering a plan to "name and shame" men who visit prostitutes — a move critics say would turn back the clock to Victorian times.
...
The proposal would make paying for sex illegal and carry additional penalties for men who have sex with women forced into prostitution, the Home Office said. But it declined to give details on fines and other penalties before the formal announcement.
Men who frequent prostitutes could also be identified publicly, as they are in the London borough of Lambeth, where police send warning letters to the homes of drivers whose license plate numbers are caught on closed-circuit television picking up street walkers.
In addition, the plan would make it a criminal offense to pay for sex with a prostitute "controlled for another person's gain" and could bring rape charges against men who knowingly paid for sex with a woman forced to work as a prostitute.'

'GAINESVILLE, Ga. — An Army wife accused of setting her apartment on fire botched an attempt to collect on her husband's $400,000 insurance policy when he survived and her two children died instead, a federal prosecutor said.
Billi Jo Smallwood, 35, was denied bond at a Friday hearing in northeast Georgia, where she appeared on federal charges of damaging government property by fire.
"She set fire to her own home in hopes of killing her husband and wound up killing her kids," Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Gabay-Smith said.
...
Smallwood's family members stood and identified themselves to the judge in support of her release on bond. Her husband, accompanied by friends in Army uniforms, stood and said, "My name is Wayne Smallwood and I am here to support my wife."'

Story here. I never understood the trouble kids (boys) got into for passing gas. It isn't like one has a great deal of control over it and it's pretty easy to tell if he is doing it to cut up (ie, "artificial farts") or actually just got taken by surprise. But even in the "good ol' days", the most some crazed, wild-eyed farting boy had done to him was getting told to stand in the corner or maybe, if it's a real bad case of flatulence, to go see the principal (or maybe the nurse if it was accompanied by such crimes as barfing or coughing). Nowadays it seems, it warrants arrest.
War on boys? No. Feminized classrooms? No, no way. It's an illusion, just propaganda being bandied about by crazed MRAs and other such male chauvinist sexist bigot types. Now that that is all straightened out, you may go back to sleep and let the Mommy State take care of everything for you... provided you pony up.

This is a news story about a Deputy DA in California who was a sex crimes prosecutor and who is being accused of rape, sodomy, threatening to kill the alleged victim and other nasties.
It basically boils down to a "he said, she said" case because there is no remaining exculpatory evidence since the alleged rape. She filed the charges after learning her work contract with the DA's office would not be renewed. Sound familiar?
The DA who is being accused said he is shaken to his very core and BEING ON THE OTHER SIDE IS EXTREMELY PAINFUL. Ah, poor baby!
I wonder if he would now be open to the legal concept that making a false rape accusation is rape and should be prosecuted as a Class A felony? Excerpt:
'MARTINEZ, Calif. -- Contra Costa County Senior Deputy District Attorney Michael Gressett pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that he raped and sodomized a fellow prosecutor in May.

'A drunk businesswoman who killed a young couple while speeding 'grotesquely' at 113mph in a £50,000 Jaguar on her way home from the races has been jailed for nine years.
Mary Butres, 47, lost control of the car after she hit standing water and careered into Mark Compton, 20, and his 19-year-old girlfriend Jodie Brown, who were walking away from their car after it had broken down.
The helpless couple were hit with such force they were hurled onto the opposite carriageway and killed instantly.
...
Today Butres, of Stamford, Lincolnshire, showed no emotion as she was jailed and given a seven-year driving ban for two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.'

'POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- For richer or poorer, that's the vow, but it's not the law. Ida and William Cody are married, but have lived apart for decades. When William hit the lottery, Ida thought she'd get a share of it.
...
It took jurors just one hour to decide Ida had no claim on her estranged husband's $1.9 million lottery jackpot. Ida said she gave William Cody $20 to purchase the winning ticket, but the jury didn't buy her story.
The Codys were married in 1974, but they've been separated for more than 20 years. And, until William Cody struck it rich, the pair weren't on speaking terms.
"I'd rather have ne'er a penny and be eating grass than to have all the money in the world and her nagging me, putting me through all this stuff," William said.'

Press release:
Vellacott celebrates National Child Day with announcement of Equal Parenting Bill
For Immediate Release
November 20, 2008
OTTAWA – “Today is National Child Day. It is a great day to be talking about the best interests of children,” says Conservative MP Maurice Vellacott (Saskatoon-Wanuskewin). “My next initiative – in an 11-year political history of fighting for Canada’s children – is a bill to require a presumption of equal, shared parenting in child custody decisions.”
In the last Parliament, Vellacott introduced M-483, a Private Member's MOTION advocating equal, shared parenting. In this parliament, he is preparing to introduce a Private Member's BILL that would amend the Divorce Act to direct judges to demonstrate a presumption of equal, shared parenting in cases of marital breakdown where children are involved. Exceptions will exist for cases of abuse and neglect.
“The overwhelming testimony from the best research is that children’s interests are best served when they are raised by both parents,” said Vellacott.

'Several parliamentary parties are considering creating legislation that would spare all children from circumcision - not just girls.
A proposal to ban circumcision for boys may be on its way to parliament after intense discussions by MPs over the past week, reports Kristeligt Dagblad newspaper.
Although circumcision of girls was outlawed in response to the practice being common among immigrants from some Muslim countries, boys may still be circumcised if a certified physician is present.'

Ed. note: Not surprisingly, there is a great deal of resistance to this from religious quarters. Story here.

I just wanted to thank the readers of Mensactivism.org. The first week's numbers for my new internet radio show at BlogTalkRadio were very respectable. The more avenues of media we can utilize to advance our concerns will only help grow the momentum that has already been established by organizations/individuals like Mensactivism.org.
This week, I will discuss how authorities are changing their approach towards prostitution, which involves compassion for the prostitutes, and jail for the johns. Isn’t this gender discrimination?
Also, the different reaction in society between advertising that offends men, and advertising that offends women (DART vs. Motrin).
And finally, how research released this week proves feminists lied about girls and education.

'A Florida kindergarten teacher was suspended for polling her students on whether an autistic boy should remain in class.
Alex Barton, 5, lost the vote 14 to 2.
Barton, a former student at Morningside Elementary School in Port St. Lucie, Fla., had received two discipline referrals to the principal's office May 21, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. The school was aware that Barton was in the process of being tested for Asperger's Syndrome.
This week, the St. Lucie County School Board voted unanimously to suspend his tenured teacher, Wendy Portillo, for one year without pay. Superintendent of Schools Michael Lannon recommended discipline after Portillo took Barton to the front of the class and asked students to tell the boy what they didn't like about his behavior and how it impacted them.
Barton said the teacher allowed his classmates to call him "disgusting" and "annoying."

"The Kingston university has hired student facilitators to step in when they overhear homophobic slurs, remarks bashing women or racially tinged insults, along with an array of other language that could be deemed offensive.

Patricia Gurin, professor emeritus of psychology and women's studies at the University of Michigan, is one of the founders of the intergroup dialogue concept.

She said that facilitators who haven't been trained properly could end up reinforcing defence mechanisms of privileged students.
"White males say 'This is more white-male bashing.' What are they learning from that? Reinforcement of defensiveness rather than opening up and exploring is the consequence."'
