Video report here. She has gotten three trials and has been convicted twice of the same murder. Still, she is a female and is photogenic, so despite the two convictions and the imprisonment of the only boy involved in the gang-murder of a teenage girl (the mob that attacked her was otherwise made up of girls - wonder what happened to them in all this?), the Canadian Supreme Court needs to be polled for its opinion for what would have been an open and shut case if the primary agent in this assault and murder had been the boy.

'A Texas man has reportedly settled a class action lawsuit against Hooters for refusing to hire men as food servers.
Nikolai Grushevski filed a complaint against Hooters of America in January alleging its Corpus Christi franchisee would not hire him as a waiter because the position was being limited to females by an employer "who merely wishes to exploit female sexuality as a marketing tool to attract customers and insure profitability."
Hooters argued a “bona-fide occupational qualification” defense, which applies when the “essence of the business operation would be undermined if the business eliminated its discriminatory policy,” according to Onpointnews.com.
“If we lose this go around, you can next expect hairy-legged guys in the Rockettes to line up and male models in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue." Hooters' vice president of marketing said, according to Onpointnews.com.'

'Recently the Boston Globe ran a front page story on a Fathers & Families‘ member who was jailed for child support because his income in the Real Estate industry dropped dramatically and he was unable to pay his child support. The story also covers our highly-publicized lawsuit against the new, higher Massachusetts child support guidelines.
Fathers & Families was contacted by a major national TV show which is doing a story on the problems with the child support system and is looking for child support obligors to be on the show.
The network is specifically interested in individuals with the following scenarios:
1) Your income has declined significantly over the past year but you have been unable to get courts to modify your child support obligations. (You could be in any state)
2) Your child support has been raised under the new Massachusetts guidelines. (Massachusetts only)
This information will not be shared with anyone except the TV producer. Please do not respond unless you are willing to be publicly identified on national television.'

'Dunn, N.C. — A Harnett County woman charged with beating two of her children still has custody of a third child.
Delores Geddie, 57, of 801 S. Ellis Ave. in Dunn, was charged Monday with two counts of child abuse and was released after posting a $250,000 bond.
Harnett Primary School teachers and administrators reported suspected abuse to social service workers recently after a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl showed up at school with deep bruises.
"They had belt marks on their back (and) on their arms, and the little boy had a belt mark on his face and nose," Dunn Police Chief B.P. Jones said.
...
"She just lost it. That's what she told the investigator," Jones said.
...
The two who were injured are staying with Geddie's mother; Geddie is prohibited from seeing them as a condition of her bond. But Geddie retains custody of their brother, who is in a wheelchair.'

'The move toward single-sex classrooms is a growing trend around the nation and in Western North Carolina.
Eight public schools in North Carolina offer single-sex education, according to the National Association for Single Sex Public Education.
Asheville is home to Hanger Hall, a private middle school for girls, as well as to some single-sex classes within coed private schools. Carolina Day School's middle school, for example, has single-sex classes for core subjects.
Yeiser hopes to use Hanger Hall as a model. The school was started by Howard Hanger 10 years ago because he wanted something different for his daughters' education. The school now has 63 students.'

'04.20.2009 – One of the leading organizations of men in America has asked President Obama to create a White House Council on Men and Boys.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the world’s oldest collegiate Greek-lettered organization of African-Americans recently wrote the president a letter encouraging him to create the council after Mr. Obama formally established the White House Council on Women and Girls.
“Mr. President, we are keenly aware of the challenges that face women and girls. However, we believe a focus must also be placed on men and boys,” wrote the Rev. Herman “Skip” Mason, Jr., general president of Alpha. “As a father of a six-year old son and an eight-year old daughter, like you I want to make sure that there are well-educated, responsible and community-oriented men for them to look up to as they grow and develop.”'

Congress currently spends approx. $1 billion (!) annually on domestic violence programs(1), and the recent economic stimulus bill just added another $325 million.(2) Yet, while the rest of the nation is forced to cut back during these difficult economic times, advocates are asking Congress for even more – over a quarter billion more dollars every year!(3) Although this analysis considers only Federal funding, be aware that these programs also receive sizeable private donations as well as state and local funding.
Congressonal spending this year works out to approximately $2,948 per female domestic violence victim. The demand for a funding increase amounts to an additional $623 per female domestic violence victim every year.(4) Since domestic violence service providers offer neglibible help to male victims, services for male victims are not included in these calcualtions.(5)

'Kampala — ASK anyone if they have ever seen a condom and the answer will be 'yes'. Unfortunately, that answer only refers to a male condom. Few people, including women have seen a female condom despite its introduction as an alternative HIV/AIDS prevention method, 10 years ago.
The Government imported 1.5 million female condoms in 1999 but halted their distribution due to insufficient demand*.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is re-introducing them. However, critics say the ministry has not learnt lessons from its past mistakes, as people still hardly know anything about these condoms.'

'Q. I’m a 50-year-old man who works as a department director at a large international corporation. My supervisor is a vice president, and she oversees about 20 people, split evenly between men and women.
Last week she sent an e-mail to the women in the department, inviting them to an all-expenses-paid “extended lunch” that would include manicures. She advised them that if the men asked where they were going, to say they had an off-site meeting.
Some female co-workers forwarded me the e-mail. I was appalled by the exclusion of men. Since the department has both professional men and women, the supervisor should have offered everyone a free lunch in the conference room rather than pull such a biased stunt.'

“I’m very sorry for what I did,” Jacqueline Owens, 21, of 473 Arch St., told Judge Anthony Vardaro before he handed down the sentence during an afternoon session in Crawford County Court of Common Pleas. “All I’m trying to do is make my life better.”
...
“She had been raped,” Rowden explained to the judge before the sentencing took place. “When she reported it, she reported it as burglary-rape,” he continued. “It was more acquaintance rape. She had invited him in.”'
