'The Hofstra University freshman who lied to police about being gang-raped in a dormitory bathroom stall last month altered both the course of her own life and the lives of the five men who were wrongly accused.

But victims' advocates said they had no doubt that public anger toward Ndonye would discourage actual victims of sexual assault from coming forward.
"The defense in sexual assault cases is always that the victim is lying," even when that is not the case, said Lois Schwaeber, director of legal services for the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Has to be read in full to be believed. This Liz Jones woman is considered a bit of a joke here in Britain by the way. Excerpt:
'It’s official. Modern man is a wimp. A new book by an Australian anthropologist called Peter McAllister entitled Manthropology: The Science Of The Inadequate Modern Male has come to the conclusion that men are the worst they have ever been – the ‘sorriest cohort of masculine Homo sapiens to ever walk the planet’.
According to a set of fossilised footprints, prehistoric Australian aboriginals would have left 100m and 200m Olympic champion Usain Bolt standing.

You see? Women are now the strong ones in our society. Men no longer chase wildebeest across the pampas, and therefore have become hopelessly soft.

'ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- An all-male college in Atlanta, Georgia, has banned the wearing of women's clothes, makeup, high heels and purses as part of a new crackdown on what the institution calls inappropriate attire.
No dress-wearing is part of a larger dress code launched this week that Morehouse College is calling its "Appropriate Attire Policy."
The policy also bans wearing hats in buildings, pajamas in public, do-rags, sagging pants, sunglasses in class and walking barefoot on campus.
However, it is the ban on cross-dressing that has brought national attention to the small historically African-American college.'
Gee, I wonder if any of the many women's colleges in the US has a ban on their students dressing like men?

'A Grand Forks woman is accused of broadcasting pornography from the window of her home Friday morning, allowing the images and noises to be seen and heard from Lake Agassiz Elementary School.
When police Cpl. Dylan Schauer arrived at Nicole Altendorf’s house on the 800 block of Stanford Road, he found a still shot of a pornography video displayed on a television.
“We made contact with the suspect, who was not compliant in any way,” a police report states. “She refused to come out and physically resisted. She was finally extracted by force from her entryway.”

Report here (.pdf file). This report is extremely long -- 438 pages. Admittedly, I skimmed through it but I tried to provide some of the more intriguing excerpts.
“A Woman’s Nation Changes Everything” is work in the best tradition of those ideals. It flips a switch in our culture, sparking a collective acknowledgement of the interdependence of men and women today. With that switch we hope will come changes in the collective mindset of our government, business, faith institutions, our culture, media, and most importantly, men and women. Embracing these new dynamics and sparking new conversations is what “A Woman’s Nation Changes Everything” is all about.

'Though Pink Iron has been open to the female gym-going public since April, yesterday marked their official launch as L.A.'s premier women's only, full service health and fitness center created by Holly Holton, a certified personal trainer and globally ranked fitness competitor.
Holton came up with the idea after working for Gold's Gym, realizing that the market was primed for "a fun, motivating, and unique environment where women could sweat without having creepy dudes drool on them!" Sing it, sister!
But what if you don't live in Los Angeles? Actually, there are more than a few women's-only gyms across the country.
...
So if self-consciousness or dude issues keep you from busting a sweat at the gym, check your town for a female-only option. It might be just what the personal trainer ordered.'

'WATERLOO - Dealing with domestic and community violence is about facing issues of masculinity, according to Harry Brod.
That doesn't mean fighting against men.
"I always position myself as his ally, not his adversary," Brod said during his keynote speech.
Brod, a professor of philosophy and humanities at the University of Northern Iowa, spoke during the morning portion of the Safety, Accountability and Justice in Reducing Domestic and Community Violence conference. The event was Wednesday at Hawkeye Community College.
Brod also served as director of the Iowa Regent Universities Men's Gender Violence Prevention Institute and on the Iowa Governor's Task Force for Responsible Fatherhood.
In his view, masculinity plays a role in nearly all violence committed. School shooters often are bullied and mocked for not being masculine enough - which leads them to lash out - and husbands abuse their partners to assert dominance.'

By Wednesday night, Sinclair had not been charged with a crime, but Cleveland police are considering charging her with having inappropriately relations with a student and possibly sexual assault.
A Houston sex offender counselor says society tends to underestimate the harm that can come to teenage boys seduced by a female teacher.
Judy O'Brien says boys are likely to have skewed relationships with women well into adulthood and some will commit sexual crimes.'

'RENO, Nev. -- Ben Roethlisberger is seeking unspecified counter damages from a woman he says falsely accused him of rape in what his lawyer describes as a plan she hatched to seduce the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback in his Lake Tahoe casino-hotel room.
The woman alleged in a civil suit filed in Washoe District Court in July that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her at Harrah's in July 2008 after he lured her there under the false pretense of needing his television repaired.
Roethlisberger's lawyer, John Echeverria, said in a response to the lawsuit filed this week that the woman made up the story because she knew it was against Harrah's policy for employees to visit a guest's room without a work-related purpose.
Her violation of the policy "was a deliberate step in her plan to seduce Mr. Roethlisberger," Echeverria wrote.'

'SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Keithville woman is now behind bars after allegedly filing a false police report.
Shreveport Police arrested 22-year-old Olivia Green who now faces a charge of criminal mischief, after reporting back on October 8 that she had been abducted and sexually assaulted.
Police say Green originally told officers that she had been kidnapped from a convenience store on W. 70th St., back on October 5, by two males who then allegedly held her captive for four days, where she was also sexually assaulted.
Upon investigating, detectives soon learned that Green had lied and was never kidnapped or sexually assaulted.'

Via Marc A. Op-ed here. This one is worth responding to. It actually admits the near 50/50 data but downplays male victims based on injury rates, misleadingly. I see no comment page but a letter to the editor can be sent to northnews-at-northumberlandnews.com. I sent them a letter which is below the article here. But it might be good to have more. Excerpt:

'Before I get constructive, I have to take a few paragraphs to cite a reasons why this article is insulting towards many men.
First, there’s the “you are a good guy” dialog. This is presented in such a way that suggests Starling has some sort of empathy towards men. Almost immediately, it becomes clear that these words are not written in empathy nearly so much as a failed attempt to placate. There’s also the student/teacher metaphor used in the writing. This sets a dominating and oppressive tone towards men. Feminist should know by now that being oppressive is not effective.
